I had a sticky yarn problem and I found that running an empty shuttle close to the heddle first really helped. I would slide it down to the woven work to clear the threads The extra step wasn't that time consuming and I was actually able to speed up my work. New subscriber!! Thanks for the tips.

I use a pick up stick to do this... it's even better as the end is tapered and there's no slot to catch threads. I've woven a mohair scarf.. warp and weft and it took a wee bit longer, but turned out great.

I really appreciate your comment about using paper to separate layers of your weaving as you roll on the front beam. Normally I only do that on the back beam and cover the knots going onto the front beam with a slit cardboard roll or short length of brown paper... but I can see how irregular warps with bumps could distort one's weaving.

I used to do the same (back beam only) but realized that the knots on front were causing issues with my warp tension. The carboard roll idea is fabulous!

Just found your video and feel more confident weaving with fuzzy yarn. I appreciate your style of teaching. Anxious to see your other videos. Extra paper on the front and back is a great idea. Thank you.

I'm so glad you enjoy the video! I raise Angora Goats so working with mohair is something I needed to master. It may be slower but the results are gorgeous!

Wouldn't it be nice if there were caps to slip onto the leading ends of those stick shuttles to keep the warp threads out of them? Thank you for this video. I am trying to help a non-weaving friend who wants her first project to be a mohair scarf! I think this might change her mind to something with less sticky threads.

Caps would be brilliant! I do love mohair and raise Angora goats that produce it but for a first project she will need quite a bit of patience. Good for you sharing the weaving love!
