Hello 50skid, I agree with all your cleaning techniques and assembly methods and lube points for the most part. Having been a Lead Tech and Manager of a couple of "Big Brake Safety Center" shops (based in Denver) around the Mid & South West, I was also taught to lube all the points you have done (even more) sparingly than you did. And to use Moly anti seize (also sparingly) on every threaded fastener that attached the components, not just where the rotor rides on the hub. I learned that the majority of squeeks came from the sharp edge(s) of the pads themselves, once they wore down past the factory's chamfer(s). I found that sanding/filing a slightly rounded edge of the pad's sharp edges would eliminate those squeeks. A little touchup once in awhile would then keep the noise at bay. The same goes for motorcycle's disc brake pads. Thanks for an informative video. cheers Boots Langley La Mesa, Ca
Wish I could say the same for Wisconsin corrosion. Love that you are working on the E83 (Since I own one). Once again, excellent video. The fuel filter on this vehicle is different from other vehicles, would love to see one on that (since i have to do that now). Thanks again.
If you are using genuine brake pads with fitting kit then clean the Caliper and carrier so it’s spotless and dust free and fit without grease on contact surfaces apart from slides (use silicone grease) if you use oem aftermarket pads then use grease lol 😂
Hey 50s kid, I’m an having an issue where EML pops up and my car is not having full power all these lights pop up and idle goes up and down rapidly. I’m getting a code p16a7 but I got my cats checked and they are not plugged up , I also cleaned my icv and still happened. So my only option would be a bad throttle position sensor? Let me know thank you
Hi, what disc and brake pads do you use ? I put on my E46 320d Zimmerman disc and ATE brake pads , discs are twisted, but ATE break pads are very good.I read in BMW forums , that recommended to use only OEM discs.I'm the biggest fan of your videos
Hi, OEM discs are ATE. You should use a brake set one brand(disc and brake pads), that is the best practise. Before you put a new disc you should be sure that a wheel hub is perfectly clean as on this video. I changed my brake set on ATE one year ago and I have no issues
When you get OEM you have only BMW logo on item and you pay for that logo, that is the difference that you pay :) The first time I hear that Jurid manufactured OEM brake sets for e46.
Never return the brake caliper, without opening the bleed screw. For old and contaminated fluid returns to the ABS block and destroys the brake with rust. The brake fluid and hydroscopic, and should be changed every year or every brake pad replacement.
Nobody replaces brake fluid every year or pad replacement. Dot 5 and 5.1 are not hygroscopic but not compatible with all cars so it’s important to know what you are working with first.
Hi 50kid. I ve seen ur DIY video (many many episodes ). And this perticular one is extra long due to too much detailed explanation . I kind of understood why u chose to do this way( for new viewers and ur effort to give them more info) but viewer like me , it's too long and loose interest. This is my opinion.

This guy knows how to teach, how to make a video, and how to refurbish x3 brakes. Bravo.
Best brake video on TH-cam
Thank you for taking time to explain in detail how thing are done. Keep up the great job.👍
excellent vid. Lots of useful tips including caliper compression and fluid level advice. I have done E 39 and will attempt on my E83. Thanks so much!
Great tip to use a wood work clamp to compress the piston, works well, personally I used the way shown @15.30mins, thanks a lot dude
hi there 50skid just say that when you push back the brake caliber you can open the fluid cap of the tank that all so stops damaging the seals
Absolutely brilliant informative video.
Thank you for taking the time to make this👌🏼

Can't thank you enough for all your videos!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Love your channel Kid, can you do an episode on what parts to get at junk yards and what to buy new? Id like to hear your take on it. Thanks
Front brakes only have a single pad wear sensor which is on the driver's side pads. There is not one on passenger side.
best how-to period.

Not sure it's "complete" without the e-brake shoes, springs, and new brake pad sensors.
If I need new shocks too would you suggest changing them at the same time?
So you don't have to bleed the brakes
Great job Jason!

Had to do the donkey kicks with both my 3 series and x3 lol
When the rotor is not coming out you need to use the rubber hummer
Can also use this tool.
OTC 6980 disc puller.

Hi,but price on ATE and original OEM form BMW dealer is different.OEM is more expensive.I read on internet "Jurid" are OEM.Which one is true ? :)

Nowodays those cases are more complicated, look at photo in this thread :): www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=72&t=1697737
I used Zimmermann for my wife’s E83 five years ago (50,000 miles ago) and they are holding up fine.
Great video.
Forgot how to reset the brake pads light after replacing pads
With a bmw scan tool or INPA
Is goot screwdriver actually :)
You did something wrong with the paint of your cas as visable at 51:27 ;)
Six Smellimeter Bolts.

Here in scotland that is the way you should do things, but rust would prevent it from resealing, so new calipers..

you forgot to paint them red!@!!!
I am YoYo, please read your email, waiting for your reply.
