Hope you all enjoy my performance of Riku from the official Kingdom Hearts Piano Collections. This might be the single most difficult video game piano arrangement I've ever played. But I am happy to say that I am a survivor of learning and performing Riku from the KH piano collections.
@@AKitchell Originally I was learning Working Together but I dropped it when I realized I had to cut a few pieces from the program I was working on at the time. I don't remember it being that hard. I worked on it for like a week and was already nearly at tempo... Granted, chords and jumps are one of my strengths at piano, not so much fast passage work, so maybe that's why...
Finally about finished learning this, I found it to be easier that it sounds for 95% of the piece, (still very difficult) but getting those LH chord inversions up to speed at the end was brutal.
I always felt like Finale ~ Working Together was the most difficult from the PC. I think once you get used to the trill in the left hand it’s not too bad. One thing I like to take note on is the modulations. I like them cuz I can differ the passages easier and it makes for a easier time for memorizing the runs. Masterful performance as well.
Thank you! I think it just depends on people's strengths/weaknesses. Originally, Working Together was going to be a part of my KH/FFVII piano concert so I was practicing it at one point. I thought it wasn't hard. I'm decent at chords, jumps and octaves so I was able to play the first few pages at tempo after just a couple days of practicing it. Can't say the same with Riku 😆
Good performance! It’s nice to see people still play KIngdom Hearts and Final Fantasy piano collections/piano operas. But I also think the piece was lacking in dynamics. It seems to me the mics are not catching the dynamics. I think it would help the channel in the long run to invest in better equipment. And some people may not realize the mics are holding you back in showing dynamics and they may think that the performer is the issue. I look forward to more performances. If you can play this then maybe try KH Piano Collections - Working Together.
Yeah these arrangements are amazing. They might not get a lot of views on TH-cam because of how old the arrangements and games are but they are a joy to play! That's interesting you say that about the dynamics... when I was first sat down to try the piano before recording the first thing I noticed was the lack of dynamics and color on the piano, which was unfortunate... The lack of dynamics you hear is actually the piano itself.
Your videos are always of such high quality! I love this piece, I think I first heard it on your livestream a while ago. I love how effortlessly you bring out the melody in front of all those other low notes, it sounds magical!
Love the new look of the vids! Love that side view of the hands, sounds amazing as always! Gotta relearn this one myself haha, I think it's finding a balance of rotation with this piece for the Right hand that's the most difficult
Glad you've liked the recent videos. I've been experimenting more with video work and editing. The hard part about Riku is just how uncomfortable that quarter note voice/16th note voice pattern is. It's so hard to play it consistently well.

Now, if you can, learn Kameoka's version of Working Together. It's a lot of fun to play once you get it down, but it's even harder than this one.

Cool to hear you've learned it! Keeping the 16th notes even and consistent is what I found so hard about this one...
Che bella questa versione di riku.... spettacolare davvero complimenti pagherei per la sentila dal vivo

@@iLikePiano ohh wow I would have never known. Thanks for explaining. It could also be the environment too like too small space.

Thank you! I love this arrangement a lot too. I just wish it wasn't so ridiculously hard 😅
Great job!

Sounds and looks great!! Glad to see you making videos again!

Omgggg!!!! You are criminally underrated! We must help this man. 🫡🤠🤠It reminded me of torrent with those quick left hand runs.
Thanks! Yeah I think there is some influence from the C-sharp minor Chopin etude
