- In this video, I play an epic chess game against @DanielNaroditskyGM. The game featured a new idea against his Jobava London Opening, followed by an incredibly intense battle.
Shoutout to @GMHikaru for the endgame commentary cameo! (originally streamed from / gmhikaru )

Eric out loud: “I have his course”
Eric internally: I know all his tricks
Eric: Hihihi
Oh no! My course! Call an ambulance....
but not for me....
Imagine playing so out of your mind that suddenly you just hear Hikaru analysing your game
Thanks for the laugh 😂
lmao that's definitely on of the description
I thought you were joking and then I literally saw Hikaru analysing
Was not expecting Hikaru's analysis, but wow that was a good game
Hikaru was wrong about the B5 suggestion, really glad Eric didn't play it. That move loses a pawn and certainly doesn't win the knight because of back rank mate threat. B5 throws all the advantage away and produces a draw.
Yeah same, unexpected Hikaru cameo was funny and good
@@BobbyFischer0000- Actually you are such a cute little baby boii who is so good and smart and mama is so proud of you🎉
@@BobbyFischer0000 "erics moves were easy to play" 🤡
@@EggemeyersHikaru does say about 20 secs later that "There is always b5 if he wants a draw as well" 5:08
Thank you for Hikaru, it’s like I’m watching “Rosen vs Naroditsky, director’s cut, blu-ray edition”
Ben Affleck doing the commentary on Armagedon.
Rosen vs Naroditsky was directed by: QUACK!
Eric is playing out of his mind recently. Love to see my man playing brilliant chess.
The power of playing classical otb.
Well, YT is mainly highlights.
As Magnus said.
However, I am happy for Eric
Eric: *thinks for longer than 1 second*
Hikaru: "Why is Eric so slow?"
Classic Hikaru
I think he was reading a comment from chat when he said that based on his inflection. (all though it's something he would easily say)
@@Dancindazedno he definitely wasn’t reading a chat. Eric was being super slow up 4 pawns in an end game lol
@@Gush27 how is it definite that he wasn't reading a message? that makes no sense, unless you have the full transcript
I feel like Hikaru's just saying that cause he believes Eric's got the win and just had to make the moves more quickly because of the timer
Hikaru is just stressing cuz he wants daniel to lose so badly. Does the same when magnus is playing against someone
Thanks for the commenting from Hikaru. That was a great addition.
when hikaru started commentating it showed much of a friggin engine he is the moves literally came off the tip of his head
Think a lot has to do with nerves, you don't want to throw a win like that because you want to play fast, especially cuz Daniel is tricky
just the tip
pause@@jettaeschroff6924
@@jettaeschroff6924Specially the tip
He’s insane
Such a treat to watch my favorite IM playing my favorite GM. The two nicest chess streamers.
Same exact sentiment here! They're both my favorite chess players/creators/teachers in general. Love what wholesome class acts they are and how much they truly adore the game. Wish we saw them play more often!
Big thanks to whoever edited that Hikaru commentary into this video!!!
It should be Jonathan Schrantz. He has two accounts, but vampirechicken is his more active one.
whomever* :D
I would have thought that was Eric...
@@64MilestotheGallon I'm decently sure whoever is grammatically correct. The verb is edited and the subject is whoever. Whoever only changes to whomever when it's the object of the verb.
Whoever replaces pronouns like he or she. Whomever replaces pronouns like him and her.
Correct: He edited that Hikaru commentary into this video
Incorrect: Him edited that Hikaru commentary into this video
The confusion is probably that you would say "big thanks to him" rather than "big thanks to he" if that was the standalone phrase, but since we have the verb edited and the pronoun is connected to the verb as a subject, we gotta let that inform us when deciding which pronoun to use.
@@oOPPHOo Thank you that is so enlightening.
Being up four pawns in an endgame against basically a super GM would feel like I’m down trying to not mess up and convert lol
Eric is such a kind and genuine dude, and when he sits down at the board he’s capable of just VAPORIZING people. So cool to see.
"I think that was a nice game overall" he says after randomly smoking freaking Naroditsky with black
Loved the Hikaru commentary!
Props to Eric on W but man, it always blows my mind how fast Hikaru can look at a board mid game and determine what the right move is. Hikaru started his opening sentence not knowing who was playing the match and by the time he finished the sentence, he knew Rosen was winning and what move to play.
@@TheDandonianThat's why he's the GOAT of Bullet
Thanks! Such a great game, watching a replay, my heart was pounding for you!!!!
Thank you so much!
I’m genuinely proud of you Eric! So cool Hikaru jumped on!
What an awesome feeling that victory must have been! Great game, and congrats!
Classic game between content creators. Both of you play the Jobava, he's done a course, you have a new idea you know his course doesn't cover... Love it.
4:48 love how Hikaru instantly throws out "there's b5 here!" Doesn't seem to work well though, but the speed!
5:12 "there's always b5 if he wants to draw as well" .. yep, seems to be a draw, but wow that speed.
He mightve thought a draw was good enough for Eric, if he wanted it
@@andresv.8880 Yes, who knows, but just seeing b5 there in such a short time, wasn't on my radar at all. It's insane how they have these "instincts". To me b5 just looked stupid.
Nice win! I happened to randomly match with Danya on puzzle rush recently (I'm 1000 points lower than him and I'm on a free account so I only get one puzzle battle per day, so that was pretty crazy). Of course he destroyed me 41-28, haha
41 seems low for him when his 3 min record is 55
@@watchingyoutube5093It seems pretty normal tbh and within range for a bad attempt. On a bad attempt, I just chuck everything and only get like 23 and end with 1 minute still left, while my best is 35 and ended with the clock hitting 0. He probably still had time left or was not trying that hard
pics or it didn't happen
@@user-lp8vy4vn1t well actually it happened on stream! Check his playback from October 23, it was the first game in the video
Great vid. Fun twist in the middle!!
Very impressive ! Great work Eric :)
playing some guy named--
DaNiEl nAroDitzky
think i've heard of him Before😆
I somehow always manage to confuse GM Daniel Naroditsky with GM Rebecca Harris.
always nice to see eric do well :)
great game mr rosen, cool to see your decisions when he played a move out of your prep
Okay, now someone has to get Danya to do a comentary on Hikaru's comentary, then simultaneously on Eric's secret prep... How cool would that be?
I love when I’m watching you and I get a notification you posted. Idk whether to finish the video I’m on or start the new one😂
congratulations eric! Danya is a very tough opponent.
Nice win Eric!
Love the editting with the commentary by Hikaru!
This was such a fun video to watch, nice stuff Eric. You had me sweating too! Danya is no slouch that's for sure
You can just FEEL the "what zany gambit is Eric drawing me into?" from Danya's pauses at several points lol, love it! What a fun game, would love to see you two play more often! And give yourself credit where due, it looks like he's only beaten you around 85% of the time ;P
That was awesome man hard work paying off!! Great game
This is gold non click baity chess content... Unlike the other TH-camr IM..
What a great game Eric! Well played! Hikaru commenting on end game aswell!! Fantastic chess!
This was awesome to see live on stream
I'm looking forward for putting this TT on one of your channels.
Amazing game my man
Loved watching this game. Very impressive beating Danya in the Jobava
Congrats, man! Glad I watched it live!
That was amazing Eric
Eric, slick editing with the commentary by Hikaru - loved the game
Beautifully played!
Great game, Eric! Congrats!
Wow! Great job Eric!!!
what a game Eric ! WOW
You’re the best Eric! Great game
Well done Eric. Great win!
Awesome game!
FIERCE! Nice game, Eric!
Wow! Great game, Eric!
What a nice game Eric!
Great game!! Loved the addition of Hikaru!
Great job Eric!!
Congrats Eric! Close race
🎉 Great game! Go Eric!!!
It's honestly inspiring how you'll always try your hardest to find any advantage you can, even when you know a win is unlikely.
4:40 I WAS WONDERING IF HIKARU WATCHED AND AND BAM!! ERIC COMING IN CLUTCH🎉
Great game Eric, liked the inclusion of Hikarus insight!
that was stressful. nice win!
Great game Eric!
Very entertaining, especially the endgame! Now I need to see it from Danya's perspective!
Nice one Eric!!
6:59 i like hikaru's reprimanding-like "eric...?!" when he was hesitating lol
Great win!
You did so well to act like your adrenalin levels hadn't gone through the roof. Great result!
The (almost) silent assassin, great game Eric! 👍
Congratulations mate
Great game!
Danya is probably just happy to have his Jobava London sharpened a little more
Good game, Eric. I have to say that this Naroditsky fella has a future in chess if he keeps it up. Well done indeed.
Hikaru's cameo was also a pleasant surprise.
Excellent!
Well played Eric!
Great job Eric
So the only thing keeping Eric from becoming a GM is his mind... Just play outta that thing, get on outta here mind.
Does that make top players mindless
Zen mind is op wdym
@@sk818factory5
Truly thought-provoking
@@sk818factory5 Extramindly i think is the technical term
Dude it’s a 3+0 blitz game.
You are an excellent chess player IM Rosen. Would love to see a push for the GM title, it would be the most incredible content.
Love to see it
Nice game Eric 👍
Priceless mimic - when stress turns into happieness!
Would love a Danya video on the opening at least. But huge congrats. Sick prep
Nice vid with the overlay from Hikaru. GGs on the game!
good games on the game? lol
Let’s go Eric! Incredible win! If you ever get nerves facing a high rated opponent, this is yet another game to think about. You beaten Magnus, Hikaru, Danya, Dubov, you can beat anyonen
@BobbyFischer0000 It's still a fact that he has beaten the people listed, isn't it? Not many people in the world can say they've beaten guys, causal or otherwise.
@@BobbyFischer0000lmao this guy saying he couldve beaten danya
@@BobbyFischer0000 im garbage at chess lmao but hey im not the one making claims for being able to beat a near super-gm. if youve done it before then talk your shit ig ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@BobbyFischer0000 as another 2000+ rated player who also plays OTB I understand what you’re saying. However, it is a fact that Eric Rosen has beaten the top SuperGrandmasters in chess games. Besides, we’re just here to support him and build his confidence, and if you’re just here to break him down then you can leave.
nice game, nice win!
Nice one Eric
Wow! Coming for that GM title, I know you can make it!
I know he said he doesn’t want to put the work in but the way he’s been playing lately makes me wonder if maybe he should.
He does seem to be on a good roll those days, but the GM title is very far away for him. He needs something like 150 rating points in classical (plus the norms, of course). That's unlikely to happen. It's not like he is a 15 years old up-and-comer. You don't just gain that much rating when you are 30 and have already been playing seriously your whole life.
There will always be some enthusiastic youtube comments about it any time he does well, but it's not a very realistic goal.
@@andeolevain I don't know that it's unattainable. It would be a considerable amount of work, and given his workload producing content, I would agree that it may not be super realistic.
He is playing very well, though. I wouldn't count him out based on his age.
Even Hikaru said that of the popular streaming IMs, Rosen has the best chance of making GM.
@@andeolevain There are plenty of players who are IM's for many years before getting the GM title later in their lives. Pia Cramling is one example, who became a IM when she was 20 and GM at 29, so for Eric I do believe it's completely possible.
@@user-ik7jl7ft6y Eric is already older than Pia was when she became a GM, and he is still 150 elo short.
To me this shows just how good Daniel is. Every fucking move has some series of tricks behind it so even when you're ahead there are landmines everywhere
It always feels so good to get your comeuppance. Good job duder!
Nice job!
nice play by play from Hikaru. well played!
nice win!
Nice one!
You seem so calm!
Eric beating a Top 10 Blitz player and Top 3 Bullet player is otherwordly. Congrats, Eric!
He's beither of those things. Naroditsky doesn't break into the top 50 for blitz
@@pairot01 He is very very likely Top 10 for online blitz chess without increment, the same goes for bullet. With increment he himself admits that he isn't on the same level as the top players though.
@@pairot01solid argument, unfortunately you typed “beither” which completely invalidates it :/
@@BobbyFischer0000 I know, man, I got eyes. 95/100 Danya wins
@@pairot01 danya is absolutely top 5 in 1+0 bullet and arguably top 3. The only two players who can usually win a bullet session with him are Hikaru and Firouzja
A nice win by Eric over Danya. Very cool that Eric out-prepared Danya in the latter's favourite Jobava London.
Beautiful endgame strategy! Towards the end I was up to 150 just watching ha. GM Rosen incoming soon!
Excellent
Three of my favourite people in chess!! What a moment
What an excellent example of prep paying off!
Eric’s humble, witty commentary with his solid moves make me fill with joy whenever he plays a good game. I think all sports can benefit greatly from silent, dedicated success rathet than drama and mediocrity. Kudos to Eric!
Well said
Ahh, this is where this move has been coming from. I had several people push c5 like that against me yesterday.
What a game!!!
