    Love this. I make wool dreadlocks. and with my odd ends and stuff I make needle/wet felted balls, I use a similar method by ripping fibers piling them on one another putting them in a sock, tiying it off and throwing it in the washing machiene with my clothes for a week after each wash I unwrap the sock squirt on hand soap and tiying back up. Then allow to dry and felt with a needle to makes sure its super tight so my dog has a 100% natural ball thats bio degradable and not going to destroy the planet. going to start experimenting with different designs so very excited to watch more of your videos, really don't understand why you have 41 thumbs down!!!!! x

      Thank you so much for your lovely comment!
      I'm sorry of the delay in getting more videos on my channel - I've been busy doing tv shows, project sheets, trying to build a studio shed (which will make it easier to film videos) and helping my brother and family move back to the UK, but I am working on more (even invested in a proper video camera!)... which I'm hoping to upload over the next month or so... promise! :)

    Well, as an early birthday present to myself I have just bought a new video camera so it won't be long before I'll be adding new videos to the channel... woohoo! =D

      Deborah Camp Thanks Deborah, sorry for the late response but so glad you liked the tutorial...I have builders in at the moment building a studio in my garden so that I can move out of the dining room (woohoo!). Needless to say it's been somewhat stressful for the last couple of months with not a lot of time to focus on youtube. I will, however, be getting stuck into producing new videos as soon as I'm set up in my new workroom! :)

    Very good tutorial on the felting part.But to truly create the poppy, I would have appreciated seeing how to sew the black ball into the center.

    • @Projects4Crafters
      @Projects4Crafters  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Tee Bee Hi Tee Bee, Sorry I missed the sewing part out of the video - I was focussing on the felting and thought viewers wouldn't be interested in watching me sew the centre into the flower.
      For anyone unsure of how to finish the poppy... I used transparent thread to sew through the felted flower, into the black ball centre, working my way all the way around the flower until I got back to where I started. I hope that helps!

    Interesting tutorial, I really enjoyed it and have already ordered my roving so I can attempt to make the beautiful flowers. Is the Filz Fix solution available in the US?

    • @Projects4Crafters
      @Projects4Crafters  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dot Owens Hi Dot,
      Filz-Fix is available on Amazon in the UK (www.amazon.co.uk/Filz-Fix-1-Piece-Solution-Wet-Felting/dp/B0032OPV0A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1464002380&sr=8-1&keywords=filz-fix+1-piece+50+ml+solution+for+wet+felting). I'm not sure if it's available on Amazon in the US though.
      However Esse Essence of Nature (esse.co.il/en/product/filz-fix-filz-fix-faster-wet-felting) sell it and they do offer international delivery. You can also purchase it on eBay for delivery to the US.
      Hope that helps! :)

    Thanks for the video. My question is...once you have finished this, can you now adhere this poppy to regular fabric, says skirt? If so, how? Can you needle felt it onto the skirt, or would you sew it??

    • @Projects4Crafters
      @Projects4Crafters  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I would sew it, Angie, to make sure it is securely fixed. If you needle felt it onto ordinary fabric you might find that it comes away too easily. :)

      Hi Joy, I'm not sure if you can get Filz-Fix in the States. I will check with the manufacturer and get back to you on that one. However, there are UK suppliers that will post worldwide. :)

      Hi Joy, I've checked with the distributors and I'm afraid they don't sell to the States at this time. However, you could try Rainbow Silks (www.rainbowsilks.co.uk/) who are based in the UK but do stock Filz-Fix and also ship worldwide.

    Where do you purchase Filz Fix or what is it made of

    • @Projects4Crafters
      @Projects4Crafters  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Renee,
      The Filz-Fix Solution contains ionic and anionic tensides which helps speed the felting process making it a lot easier on your hands.
      If you're in the UK you can get it from Amazon.co.uk (www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=filz+fix) and if you're in the US you can get it from Amazon.com (www.amazon.com/Filz-Fix-Part-Wet-Felting-Set/dp/B004QTXID2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1488285158&sr=8-1&keywords=filz+fix).
      Alternatively there a UK stockist (RainbowSilks.co.uk) who I believe either stocks it or can order it in for customers who is happy to ship worldwide.
      I hope that helps! :)

    Hi thank you so much for sharing your beautiful flower with us. Can I felt this onto a bigger piece say a jumper. Would I need to felt the jumper first or would it stick to a wooly jumper without the need to felt the jumper first. Please help, I'm making Xmas presents this year (skint)it would be fabulous to disguise my rather mediocre knitting skills. Thanks Stella

    • @Projects4Crafters
      @Projects4Crafters  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Erefuro, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If you want the petals to be free I think you'd be better off either sewing the felted flower on when attaching the petals to the centre or turning the flower into a brooch by sewing on a brooch backing. If you're happy for the flower to be a pattern in a felted article eg a scarf, bag or jumper you can lay the fibres on your pre-felt etc and felt them all at the same time. This way the whole flower will be 'embedded' in the base article. I hope this helps. :)

    Why not felt centre ball into poppy base?

    • @Projects4Crafters
      @Projects4Crafters  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Claire, I personally prefer to wet felt the petals and centre separately as I find it easier that way. When dry, it only takes a few stitches to attach the centre but I suppose it would be just as easy to needle felt the petals onto the centre ball. I'm not sure how easy it would be to wet felt the centre into the poppy base though. If you give it a try do let me know how you get on though! :)

You can get it off Amazon as a set (www.amazon.co.uk/Filz-Fix-Part-Wet-Felting-Set/dp/B004QTXID2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502979852&sr=8-1&keywords=filz+fix) or on it's own (www.amazon.co.uk/Filz-Fix-1-Piece-Solution-Wet-Felting/dp/B0032OPV0A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502979852&sr=8-2&keywords=filz+fix).
