That must be rare. I have never heard one of these with that higher pitched beep. Sounds just like my First Alert SA76RS. My guess is this is probably from around the same time (1977). The ones I have heard also had the lower buzzing sound. I like that old Firex logo as well. In Canada these detectors were also labelled under the Nortron brand in the 1980s so I don't know if it was a Firex rebrand or Nortron made their own ones with the same cover. The covers on these detectors also have to be one of the oldest ever not to change right from the late 1970s right up to the 1990s.

The battery powered ones always had piezo horns, this is a very early variant, probably the first one of this design.
