Thanks, Tim! I saw your note in the JW Group on that other service. Sweet looking boat! I'm down in the Atlanta area, where it's still a lot warmer, humid, and with very light breezes... trying to be patient as our sailing season approaches! I'm grateful for your simple video, and hope that you will not hold yourself to the standards of others! Post what you can, when you can. The only thought I'd offer would be that holding your phone (?) horizontally will produce a lot more screen coverage for most of us... Again, thanks, fair winds, and all the best to you and yours. (I switched to my iPad, which delivered a more satisfying watching experience, but would still recommend landscape mode over portrait mode, FWIW. 👍👍)
Thanks Chris. I truly don't worry about holding myself to others standards on these. Just giving a shout out to Steve, since he really does a nice job with production! : ) YEP! I remember that horizontal orientation thing immediately after shooting in portrait : ) I've got to figure out a way to get in that habit! Hope you find lots of time to enjoy on the water this season!
Thanks for sharing your experiences with the Navigator in a way that is easy to understand. Having taken a couple of unwanted "swims" on Lake Erie when I was in my thirties, I can only imagine what that must have been like in your neck of the woods! I am having a Navigator professionally built, completion this Fall. It will have the same rig as yours. I wonder if you could share information on the "bendiness" of your yard. It seems to have a lot of bend. Have you by any chance done a standard test for bendiness that might shed some light on this?
Hi Luis. That Yard is made out of Yellow Alaskan Cedar and was originally even more bendy!! I ended up adding a fiberglass sleeve to stiffen it up. I have a vague recollection that I tested it before and after adding the sleeve, but that was 10 years ago and I really don't recall. I'd suggest reaching out to John and asking about that. The Navigator is a great boat, especially if you want to stay out of the water!! ; ) Reef early, and figure out what sail configuration works best for you in heavy weather (if you ever get caught out). I'll regularly sail when Sailflow says it's blowing 20-30mph and I feel comfortable and safe when properly reefed. I've settled on a double reefed main, with the jib stowed and the mizzen eased, but not flogging for heavy weather. Make sure you have at least 2 reefs in the main. I think some have 3 reef points and I don't think that's overkill. That's got to be exciting..waiting for the final product! I'll look forward to hearing/seeing your adventures

Thanks Tim good video, what are you using to film it with?
Hi Pedro. I just purchased a Pixal 6a phone and filmed with that. One hand filming and one hand sailing : )
