They just won international competition Nov 2023. They are #1 in the World. Amazing sound, music, expression and visual communication. While this video can not convey how good they are, their wall of sound would have blown away everyone at CGT. This is the first time in the chorus’ 69 year history to win the coveted international gold medal. Not only did Lions Gate win the contest, but they were also the first chorus in Sweet Adelines history to receive a perfect score in any category from the panel of judges.
If only the audio could do them justice. I have heard this chorus live in person and the audio didn’t even scratch the surface of how good they are and what is thrill it is to hear them live.
I love how all the people commenting that it sucks could not do what these ladies on daily basis. As someone who was part of a sweet Adeline’s it takes A LOT of practice and hard work. They are also second in the world for the best chorus among sweet Adeline’s. And have continuously placed in every competition they have participated in. Those who believe they could do better should try to hop on a stage and do what they did because it is hard work and not everyone is willing to put in the effort! GO LIONSGATE!!!

They probably sounded pretty good. Couldn’t tell because the audio was so bad.
How long did you try? The volume was a bit low at first (hard to know the right levels on an entire chorus), but the sound engineers fixed it eventually.

Has nothing to do with the sound system - this poor barbershop choir is a terrible choir without a good tone quality, blend, balance, or talented singers. Embarrassing.

Lemme guess -- you're one of my BHS brethren who got pissed when the Society dropped the male requirement.
Unless the venue is built for it, it is very difficult and time-consuming to mic an entire chorus. Especially one that big.
@@BrendtWaters Perhaps you weren't aware - but choirs do not use amplification. For television, microphones would be used to enhance, not amplify sound. And this is from me - someone who has conducted national award winning choirs and worked with several CBC classical music technicians over a fifty year span. Please get you facts right.

Bad audio better have some better equipments for thr vocals talented people deserved to be witness around the globe. Anyways I got goosebumps the moment they sing altogether

I don't need to do my research - because they fall right to the bottom of the pile. There are literally thousands of better choirs in Canada. This choir is NOT one of them. And if this choir has been together for years - they should have much better tone quality, a much more stable blend, matching vowels, quality arrangements...the list goes on and on.

WHOO HOO Lions Gate! You killed it! I had goosebumps! SO good to hear barbershop again. What an amazing opportunity to bring our craft to the world! The story of sisterhood is heartwarming. I had the same experience with my chorus. It is a lifetime sisterhood.....even if no longer singing like me.

@@tammysullivan9065 I happen to judge national and international choral competitions, and have had four national titles awarded to my choirs. So don't tell me about knowing good barbershop when I hear it. The group from Vancouver is low rank amateur and wouldn't even win a competition against Canada's high school choirs. So trade in your ears for a pair that works.

Why don't you listen to the women's choir Elektra from Vancouver to learn how it is done. The choir your "friends" sing in - you know the one where some do handstands and then others holding their legs split their legs open and sing through their crotches is the worst choral experience/performance I have ever witnessed. So Tammy Whine-ette, educate yourself about Canada's choir scene, and be honest about the crap you are writing, or don't waste other peoples time with your ignorance.. Do us all a favour please.

The lack of diversity is not due to lack of effort. This organization of amazing sisterhood is welcoming to all women of all ages and races. Getting the diverse singers there is the challenge. Feel free to check out your local Sweet Adeline's group if you're interested in joining. xo
Barbershop choirs are ALL white dominated. It is a USA artform and we know the USA is full of racists.

All of these CGT videos are so badly mangled in their audio...like only the judges mikes were working? WTH? So deeply disappointing as instead of sounding like a professional team did this...instead, some poor high school in Podunk, Nowhere...did it...not having access to sound engineers, good equipment...or a history of shows being done all over the world of the same brand so flawlessly for years! Absolutely sucks...robbing these contestants of their moment in the sun...actually makes me angry knowing how important it is to so many contestants...and how transformative it can be to how they approach their lives.
And there are those religious people who r sure women are not allowed to sing.

Something is wrong with microphone quality or they’re just not good! Most of choirs singing are sounding real bad so I think it’s the microphone lol

Update ....just checked out their other videos...I don't think the audio quality impacted the performance. Sorry to rain on all you well wishers but they probably couldn't even book a gig at the legion. If you found that breathtaking you're either depressed or hearing impaired.

I can't even watch the video again to try and find something positive and root for them but it's just 2 awful.

The auditorium has some of the worst acoustics I've ever heard, and the sound recording is really poor. Not up to professional standards at all.

This show is an embarrassment...why is this show emulating the American version which is pure trash and bullshit. This show has nothing to do with real talent. I am ashamed to be a Canadian. I watched tonight's broadcast for about 15 minutes and vomited four times. What a pile of crap.
