The funniest thing about David Lucas to me is he's the exact polar opposite of former regular Melissa Eslinger. Big man and personality, performing and improv chops to the nth. And an almost total lack of writing skills. Melissa Eslinger had some very clever writing that was ill served by her horrendous nervous breakdowns and zero control of the stage. The world of comedy is vast. Ideally, an Eslinger deserves to hone her craft in a writing room, and Lucas should just be let loose on a skit show to do what he does best. Sorry for my trolly comments a half hour ago (too high), but Lucas getting praised for that awfully bad minute is the last thing he needs to up his game. Pandering is oddly like feeding a young plant vinegar instead of water.

It’s cringy a lot of time. But I guess he used to not have as much of an ego, or he was like, friendly? I gotta go back and watch more old ones because this show was way more enjoyable than recent ones
