Overall Thoughts:
In this video, I reviewed and compared the Sennheiser GSP 300 vs the HyperX Cloud Alpha. Both of them are wired gaming headsets that are compatible with PC, PS4, and Xbox One X, basically anything that has an aux input. I got the Sennheiser GSP 300 and the HyperX Cloud Alpha both on sale for $80 dollars. They both come with a 2 year warranty as well as different colors that you can choose from. So right now there are a million gaming headsets on the market and it’s becoming a little challenging picking a headset that’s right for you. Now if you’re like me, you just want an overall amazing quality gaming headset that has great performance with a reasonable price. If wireless isn’t a huge concern for you, then these are probably 2 of the best wired gaming headsets under $100 and both of them shine and stand out in their own ways and I’m going to discuss some of the differences and hopefully this video is helpful and points you in the right direction.
When it comes to the design, both of them have their own unique look to them. For the Sennheiser GSP 300, it has a more laid back design with an all grey and blue where majority of the blue is on the top headband. On the right ear cup, it has a volume wheel that you can increase or decrease the volume of your gaming, not the chat volume. Now the microphone and 6 and a half feet cable are not detachable.
For the HyperX Cloud Alpha, it has sharp black and red finish with a nice sturdy headband that has red stitching around it and the overall design just looks and feels like a premium gaming headset. It had a 4 and a half feet long cable that has an in-line control where you can adjust the volume or mute the microphone. One cool feature is that you can detach the microphone as well as the cable and you can actually use your own 3.5mm aux cord which is very impressive.
As far as the flexibility, both of the can be stretched out quite a bit and you can twist and turn them with no issues. Now the only thing that both of them can’t do it swivel and rotate the ear cup all the way around. This is not a huge concern, just something to note. When it comes to comfort, both of them are extremely comfortable and you can easily wear them for hours with no discomfort. For both of them, your ears don’t touch anywhere near the drivers and both provide a nice stable and secure fit. What makes both of them very comfortable is that there’s not much clamping force and there’s not much weight on top of your head. So for comfort, I would say the Sennheiser GSP 300 and HyperX Cloud Alpha are equally comfortable.
When it comes to the microphone quality, they both sound absolutely fantastic. They both sound clean and have great details in the voice and impressive clarity. For the Sennheiser GSP 300, the microphone is about 2 inches away from your mouth and you can’t adjust it. Also, if you put the microphone all the way up, it mutes. For the HyperX Cloud Alpha, you can adjust the microphone and either brings it closer to your mouth or put it in any position that you prefer. Overall for the quality of the microphone, they both sound excellent and are pretty equal.
Now when it comes to the sound quality, I played games, listened to music, and watched movies and this is what I gathered. First off, as far as similarity, both of them have great detailed mids and highs with a nice tight punchy bass and great clarity. What separates the HyperX Cloud Alpha and the Sennheiser GSP 300 is the bass and clarity. The Sennheiser GSP 300 offers more clarity and less bass whereas the HyperX Cloud Alpha offers more bass and less clarity. The bass is not the type where your ear cups are going to rattle but it definitely has more bass compared the Sennheiser GSP 300. For example, if you’re playing a game and you throw a grenade, the sound will have more bass on the boom on the HyperX Cloud Alpha. For the Sennheiser GSP 300, if you’re playing a sword game for example, and you slice through something, it will sound very sharp and clean with the clarity. Another example is music, if you listen to rap, rock, or edm, the HyperX Cloud Alpha will sound better because of the extra bass whereas if you listen to music with a lot of vocals or instruments, the Sennheiser GSP 300 will sound better.

Q: Do you like more bass or clarity?
A: I like both.
Get the Alpha S. They have bass sliders on both sides
The bass sliders in the Alpha S just change the size of a hole in the top of the ear cups. Not enough to justify the price difference.... but the 7.1 surround might be.
@@foreverrockinout nah gsp have way better sound according to the other 10 reviews I've seen
@@Crazy_killer-qm8ju lol, they're open back headphones so of course they will sound better.
Sennheiser wins. You can just turn your bass up on the Sennheiser :/
why does this guy got so little subs he deserves a whole lot more, his production quality is basically the same as million sub youtubers
I use the GPS 300 for a year now. The comfort is not very good but sounds is great. Just get the hypx
they are very comfort for me
how the gsp 300 earpads durability??
I ended up going for the Sennheiser GSP 600 I can say those GSP 300 is better then the Hyper X Cloud
Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time and effort to review these headsets and I hope you're doing well my guy!
Basically,Senhiser never uses extra EQ on it's headset that's why it is more clear than the alpha.
Senhiser kills it.
I have had Sennheiser over the years. They have a "house" style. The detail and frequency range is there when you want it, but Sennheiser lets you actually listen for it; you engage with the music. The sound isn't pressed on you regardless. That usually means less boominess, which to music lovers is colouration of the sound.
In truth, your ears will adjust to wearing any decent set of headphones. I'd usually take the Sennheisers, but the aluminium contruction, detachable cable and the fully adjustable mic on the HyperX almost convinces me. I'm holding off for a few months, though. HyperX are bound to include a 7.1 adapter soon.
@@Radio4ManLeics whats your advice between those or the turtle beach stealth700
@@sami507-m8 Turtle beach headsets have good sound and mic, but they feel pretty cheap for their price. Hyperx Cloud Alpha is the better choice for so many reasons, don't bother with cheap ass Sennheisers for gaming.
@@Radio4ManLeics They make great reference style headphones, which appease audiophiles but not necessarily impress common listeners. A neutral sound signature is generally boring for most genres, unless it's classical or jazz. That's why most people prefer bass heavy headphones for casual music listening.
I bought the Turtle Beach Élite Atlas pro. They were a nice lookingvheadset and had rave reviews. They looked well built and were comfortable. But I returned them to Amazon next day. It was a nice upper register but the bass was muddy and coloured. I wanted something I could use off the PC for genral listening. These weren't it. Ok for gaming, but not for me.
This is a very informative video: thank you sir.
Everybody trippin about the GSP 300 mic position. I can adjust mine just fine. Not as adjustable as other mics tho
I'm testing GSP 300 and Hyper X Cloud Alpha side by side those days.
Here is my opinion:
Comfort: GSP300 wins EASILY. Way lighter than HyperX, I just forget about earpads, and headband is a minimalist weigh. On the other hand, I feel so much HyperX on my head, and headband is not smooth despite people say.
Sound: Well, on this point I can't make a decision. GSP300 is more sharp, WAAAAY better dynamic range but it really lacks personality, sound is flat, too much flat. Firing gun, you don't really feel the power in your hands, it's like firing an airsoft.
The HyperX is warmer, better bass and vibrating stuff, but lacks of dynamic range, it's harder to differenciate sound sources, but it maybe a little bit too boomy. Firing guns and stuff like that is a real pleasure with Cloud Alpha, you can feel the power !
Quality / Durability: On this point, HyperX seems to be better. GSP300's plastics seems to be really good, but I emit doubt about long term usage while I can certify HyperX will stay good after several years.
Bonus: I really like micro mute mecanism and sound volume adjustements from the GSP300. But once again, I emit doubt about long term usage of these mecanisms. But I don't like HyperX little box on the cable.
Speaking about cable, I like HyperX one, seems to be better quality and longer !
About the MIC, I made a test with a friend, he preferred GSP300's one.
Well.... I really can't make a decision.... I think I'll sendback those two and get a better headset, merging all the best features from these two. Maybe Hyper X Cloud Orbit S ?
Let's get to 1mill.
HyperX Cloud Alpha is extremely good for PS4, PC, mobile gaming, music etc. In my opinion, it's better than Steelseries Arctis Pro and Logitech G Pro X.
which one?
@@zahitemremetin606 HyperX Cloud Alpha.
Do you think that the HyperX Cloud Alpha S is most worth when compared with the non-S? ps: it would be for FPS like CS: GO. Do you have a recommendation? Maybe another headphone?
@@fusion4478 Hmmm, Steelseries Arctis Pro and HyperX Cloud Alpha is really good for CSGO. You can get the wireless if you want or the gamedac one for Steelseries Arctis Pro. I'm enjoying HyperX Cloud Alpha tbh. It had good sound too.
@@fusion4478 Check out Beyerdynamic MMX 300 2nd Gen and Sennheiser PC37X. I'm personally using the GSP 300, it's a pretty solid option as well. I played R6 Siege on these and they do a good job at Siege IMO, also music and movies are really enjoyable on GSP 300.
I watched this whole video in 480p...... I watched again in 4K and i definitely heard a difference
Really?
Seenheiser seem to win on every department, but that thing about getting mic closer on HyperX is a plus.
Nope, they lose out on quite a bit:
1. Mic quality
2. Bass accuracy
3. Mid accuracy
4. Comfort
5. Durability
6. Appearance
7. Portability
8. Noise isolation
9. Leakage
10. Mixed usage
I'll be happy to explain any of those points.

HyperX just released the Cloud 2 Wireless not so long ago.
I'm pretty much sold on the Sennheiser GSP 300.
I bought the gsp 300 its awesome in terms of sound quality and the microfone(best in the segment). But in less than a year the earpad just tore up the inside part revealing the cushion. The earpad is not fully leather, just the part that touches your ears.. the other part(closer to the where the sound comes of) is a very very thin rubberized fabric.. Very disapointed with the quality.. i also have a audio-technica m50 that i had been using for 3 years and the earpads are still solid cause its completely leather.
I have one, I would really recommend it for anything really; gaming, music, movies, videos e.t.c. for me they are still in perfect condition and I've had them for about 2 years.
@@rodrigorc4752 Also had that problem, would be okay if the earpads can be easily replaced....but since its a weird ass shame it's not

@@babrielle Yes it is actually. The audio is a bit lacking in bass but other than that pretty solid. The mic is pretty good as well
Bit of a non-committal review bearing in mind the question in your title. Besides that, thanks I enjoyed your review. I picked the gsp300 18 months ago, have just replaced the pads as the ear one split. £20 so not a great cost, cheaper than replacing a whole headset. No other issues so far thankfully.

I've been thinking between these two, but on the same time, I care much for a wireless headset (already used to one but it's broken now), and I've been thinking about the Razer Nari, so how does it measure up to both of these in terms of sound quality (don't care much for the mic)?
Who s the best headset for the bass Razer nari or hyper x or sennheiser?????
i just got the hyper cloud x's cheap, excellent headphones.
great video and informative! Your in-depth comparisons was helpful!!

Whoever sees this coment, go for Sennheirser GSP, the sound is far superior, the 7.1 from HyperX is trash/fake.

Which one is better in over-all quality and which one is best for sound quality?
I game a lot so it would help if i can hear the enemies footsteps and a better sound quality.
And i also listen to music and watch movies a lot so i need a better sound quality and others. Noise cancellation would be nice but its okay if it doesnt include one. (I already own a cloud stinger and the sound quality feels so great and the mic is kinda okay but i already gave it to my dad for work/a little bit of gaming)so which one of these is great
Hyperx Cloud Alpha or Logitech G PRO X or Sennheiser GSP 300 or CM MH751 or Hyperx cloud stinger?

I can def confirm they are the comfiest headset I have and that's between the cloud 2 and astro a40's, the astro a40's arguebly best sounding but that's because I use the astro mix amp, but Def consider the gsp 300 cause they are still great and alot cheaper than the top 'premium' headsets

I really want to pull the trigger on the cloud alphas but I’m reading that people are having cross talk problems where people can hear the sounds in the headset through the mic. Has anybody had this issue with these?
I think thats because of the on board soundcard isn't great enough , if u have a good motherboard sound card , then that shouldnt be a problem. Would work too if u have external sound card/DAC

Good and detailed review. Great
Having a headphone with very high clamping pressure is very important to me. Why there aren't filters to search headphones with high clamping force? If you know gaming headphones with extremely high clamping force please tell me.
Wow that's the first time I hear someone actually searching for high clamping force. I disliked my hs70s cause the clamping force was too high and it'd give me a headache after just a couple of hours. But even if that's something that you'd like I can't recommend them to you cause the battery quickly deteriorated and after just 1 year it wouldn't hold any charge and even though the building quality is seemingly great they broke after just 2.5 years.
But enough of me ranting let me actually help you out. I use a very comprehensive site called "rtings" to look for and research headphones. If you go to their table tool you can filter them by almost any criteria you'd like including clamping force.
good video dude
The cloud alpha has terrible crosstalk between the headset and the mic. My friends can hear everything that comes out of my headset through the microphone..... even when the mic is muted. I would not purchase if you plan to use the attached microphone.

I personally prefer the Hyperx Cloud Alpha's mic quality, as the boom mic with the pop filter makes your voice sound crisp.

Not really, because it's kinda bad for gaming. Tbh, their ANC headsets have okayish sound quality. They're only really good for their audiophile headphones.

Cloud alpha doesn't work with entry level motherboards, had to buy the surround version with the amp/sound card.

I have big ears so on which headset the ear caps are bigger?
If you have big ears and large head don't get GSP 300, if you only have large ears then it should fit. But avoid this headphones, they are poor quality and the sound quality is lackluster. Microphone also had background noise.

My GSP is dead after 8 months and you need to speak louder, now I'm gonna buy the hyperX, don't know which one yet

I've had my Sennheiser G4me One for about 6 years. It was pricey, but it's the best headset I've ever had. Every time I try another one it doesn't sound the same even though every one swears by it. But, the earcups are gross and falling apart and I need to put my old friend to bed. I bought a Cloud Flight and it's not bad, but the volume is permanently stuck on full blast. The volume wheel doesn't even work! For $95! Apparently there's programs you have to install that may or may not fix it and you have to jump through all these hoops.
