the art style strikes similar as Momodora Reverie Under the Moonlight with further inspiration taken from Celeste. Definitely a beautiful art direction that fits the world it's presenting.
A lot of the art style in the menus and typography especially with the guns reminds me of Gunbrella - a MUST play indie that was super super slept on sadly. It's a short game like 6 hours with multiple endings but the world and story are fantastic with Sprite Art second to none! Really fantastic game using a Gun that's also a parasol/umbrella which you can use to float and fly and glide and ride zip lines. The physics are so fun and the guns are all fantastic. I played that game in 2024 a few months back and then saw a sale on this game for Switch and its similarities with Gunbrella sparked my interest. Gunbrella I'd give a solid 8 out of 10 only could be improved with more replay value aside from small story differences that are easy enough to watch cutscenes of on TH-cam and be happy with. Also could have used a few more weapon types and a slightly larger world. This comment wasn't supposed to be about Gunbrella but that's why I'm even considering Rusted Moss. The graphics here are a mixed bag but that mechanic in a Metroidvania is very tempting.
Oh nice, awesome to hear it's releasing soon. Played the demo some time ago, while the atmosphere is great and the grappling hook is neat, it's a bit too tough for my liking. It'd be fun to see how speedrunners play this though.
Really? This was the first traditional Metroidvania I've tried in a while that feel so easy and or slow that I got bored. The difficulty feels perfect and I am one to drop games because they're too hard a lot
@@nomorenames5568 It's been a while since I played the demo, so I might misremember some things. I think that it was tough for me because everything feels more sluggish than fun. The grappling hook's physics take a while to get used to, the black goo's timer to damage you is too quick, the one grapple per jump made it less swing fest fun and more of a strategic mechanic, and (at least in the demo I played) the charge jump requiring you to let go of crouch first before jumping also add to the sluggish feel. It's a lot of factors, but I think I just thought I wasn't having that much fun.
It's needlessly frustrating I hope they don't release it on console it's barely playable with KBM on controller people would riot. Priestess Freia is the point where I gave up such a shame this came had potential I thought.
Who would've thought adding a propper grappling hook mechanic would make the game 5 times better
It worked for Axiom Verge

Ah, that's why the art style looked familiar.
That's because it's from the same team that worked on Momodora 4.

Playing Meet Your Maker rn, can confirm that grappling hooks make everything better
Speeding along through the areas is fun as hell with the speed you can pick up from the grapple, it's satisfying as hell.
Thank you for spotlighting this! Looks right up my alley, onto the Wishlist it goes!
Had a blast with the StEAM demo, stoked for the full release
first time I've seen a positive 3MR by frost lol
dredge?

@@nomorenames5568 it starts off very easy but gets tougher later, for example the boss at 1:52 was a huge spike in difficulty
Sounds like a steal for that price. Fun!
Thanks Frost, bought it immediately and played it 10 hours straight. Look what you've done to me
Looks like this might be an interesting mix of classic Bionic Commando and Metroid in terms of gameplay. That's two good feet in the door right there.
Played the demo and all I wanted was more. Can't wait to pay the game tomorrow!
sounds rad, wishlisting this one, which I don't do that often
Seems neat. Might check it out.
I will so buy this it looks amazing.
another huge recommend from frost and such another add to my wishlist.
uuu think I'll be playing this
Anyone know if this works on deck?
This looks amazing
Metroid + celeste? Sold
Artstyle kinda reminds me of rainworld.
that seems like an amazing game that I will never touch
Dear verbal irrigation, are you getting direction from Yahtzee? Hah
Did this society not figure out how to melt down and recycle rusted things? Iron atoms don't disappear just because an oxygen atom hooks up with it.
looks good to me!
yay
Loved this game way better than vernal edge
Hehe
Violent Celeste
Good vid.
Kinda reminds me of super meat boy with how the game looks 👌 😏
This is definitely a game I will buy and abandon with frustration but still be glad I bought it.
Hmm... a story of the eternal war between humans and fairies.
It was all the humans fault, survey says:
Stole throne of glass’ story 😂
Level design look like Celeste

you can pull through just remember the layout and be patient, she is by far the hardest boss in the game especially since it's one of the earlier ones
So is this a sequel of some kind or why should we already be familiar with the story of the faey?
The grappling hook is too finicky, not worth the hours of effort learning the game as the story payoff is hardly worth it
