Phat ice LOL. Good thing you had a quantity of those Blue Ice shorties. More concerning than thin ice is crusty snow which sometimes makes it easy and other times is treacherous. Nice video, great lead !
I'm an ice climbing noob, how do you gauge if it's safe bc to me that looks sketchy but I'm assuming you have a high degree of confidence if you're putting your ice screws in it
I have quite a few years of climbing experience, which helps with reading ice conditions. This climb alone I’ve done more times than I can recall, in all sorts of conditions. While that won’t prevent me from getting hurt, it does help with my risk/reward decision making.

How to make an easy climb feel hard 101: crusty unbonded snow/ice. I’ll take thin ice over that any day! 🙌🏻
This looks so fun! Just curious what camera did you use?
I use a GoPro Max 🤘🏻
Nice work, Matty 😮
Thanks Doug! Hopeful we see ice conditions improve over the next couple weeks!

@@MattyBowman that makes sense, thanks for the reply and the video!
@ anytime! Hope you have a great season!
Rating? I think the camera really skews the angle at times.
It does - it is normally rated as a WI2+ but I think in these conditions it is climbing a bit harder/more mixed
