SuperM was created by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records in the U.S. This group features 7 of the best of the best when it comes to dance, vocals, rap and performance in Kpop. The members of SuperM are some of the absolute best from SM Entertainment's most popular groups. Baekhyun (The guy with the pink hair) who is one of the best vocalist in the industry and Kai who is one of the top 2 dancers in the industry are from EXO; Taemin (The guy with the blond hair) is the other top dancer in the industry with one of the most well respected solo careers and he is a member of the legendary group SHINee; Teayong is known for his dancing and rapping and Mark is the main rapper from NCT-127/NCT-U (Mark is Korean-Canadian, so he is the fluent English speaker of the group.); and Ten is the main dancer and lead vocalist and Lucas is a rapper and visual of NCT-U/WayV. (WayV is the Chinese sub-unit of NCT, so not only does Ten and Lucas speak Korean and English, but they also speak Mandarin. Lucas also speaks Cantonese because he is from Hong Kong and a little Thai because his mom is Thai. Ten also speaks Thai because he is from Thailand.) SuperM are considered the Avengers of Kpop because the group is so multi-talented, with some of the most influential idols in the industry, representing multiple nationalities and Kpop generations, who are poised to take over the world. The group debuted in the U.S. so that is why the song is mostly in English because it is meant to be their foyer into the U.S. music market.
Beakhyun has been chosen as the leader of SuperM. (Baekhyun is also the oldest member at 27 and Mark is the youngest at 20.) However, Taemin is the one with the most seniority in the group. Taemin is only 26 years old, but he debuted 4-10 years before any of the other members of SuperM. Taemin debuted as a member of SHINee in 2008 when he was 14 years old so he is a super senior member of the group. So, as part of the hierarchy of respect, Taemin is the one everyone looks up to. Which is rightfully so, because Taimin has earned the reputation as one of the TOP dancers and solo performers in the industry, as well as a member of one of the best Kpop groups, SHINee. Which, might be why Taemin was chosen to play such a major role within the group, and why we have seen him prominently featured in almost everything to do with SuperM.
It is said that the concept for SuperM is supposed to be like the Avengers, so, I see it as each of the members are a different kind of superhero that make up the larger "Avengers" group, just like how the Marvel Avenger members come together from all walks of life with all different abilities and powers, etc. to make up one big super group.
I think the concept of the group all stems from EXO's concept and stroyline. The members of EXO are all aliens from Planet Exo, and each of the members has a superpower that is specific to them. From day one, EXO's story has been that they were sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are thought to be caused by the Red Force. As a member of EXO, Baeknyun has the power to control light and Kai has the power of teleportation, so those powers are nothing new for them. However, the concept of superpowers is new for all the other member. So I think because Kai and Baekhyun are part of the group, at least their part of the concept is tied to EXOs storyline. I think maybe SuperM are supposed to be coming together to fight the Red Force and to prevent or stop them from corrupting and taking over the world, etc. But whatever SuperM's storyline ends up being, I think its all folded into EXO's larger concept and storyline, because, as members of EXO,, everything Kai and Baekhyun does ties back into EXO's story somehow.
And although NCT and SHINee don't have a backstory that has anything to do with being Superheroes in the same way as EXO does, I find it interesting that NCT and WayV have recently came out with songs called "Superhuman" and "Take Off" which both have sort of superhero type themes in their MVs, and one of Ten's solo songs was called "New Heroes". With what I know about SM, it wouldn't surprise me if this is something they have had in the works for a really long time and they probably have been creating ways to foreshadow things to come in SuperM that create connections between the members and their original groups. One thing SM has mastered since the creation of EXO, is how to tell a story and how to create a mystery that connects even the most minute details together to build an epic adventure for fans.
It has been speculated that SM may have been planning to create SuperM for years and songs such as "Superhuman," "Take Off" and "New Heros," for example, may have been specifically used to create a connection between NCT/WayV and SuperM and may, in the future, connect the storylines in those MVs to the story in SuperM. As you may know, SuperM's storyline is already connected to EXO's storyline, and I think SM may be working on expanding the story to its other groups, in the same way that "The Avengers" connects all the individual superhero's stories when they come together to form The Avengers.
Also, something to note is that SHINee's fan color is aqua blue/ green and NCT/WayV's color is green and -- although EXO's fan color isn't red -- red plays a big part in Exo's storyline (representing the Red Force). So that might explain some of the colors we are seeing in their teaser videos and everything leading up to this debut. One reason for the different colors might be a reference to those colors foreshadowing something within the story and it also might be a nod to their groups, etc.

you just witnessed SM Ent.'s biggest project yet - this label is known for stunning m/vs, visuals, songs, and so on, and in this group members from Exo, Shinee & Nct came together. this is basically a collab between the best of the best. a legendary group that sets everything on fire. SM has quite a history & all of the groups there are simply perfect.

Honestly, I am just blown away at the talent level in this group. Each member brought their A game. And this song and MV production is top notch

since the group only debuted today Jopping is the only MV at the moment but if you want to watch/react to more stuff of the groups members you should totally check out NCT 127 - Cherry Bomb (Mark, Taeyong), NCT U - Boss (Mark, Taeyong, Ten, Lucas), WayV - Take off (Ten, Lucas), Exo - Tempo (Baekhyun, Kai), Shinee - Lucifer (Taemin)
Baekhyun (UN Village) and Taemin (Want) also have solo mini albums, while Taeyong (Long Flight) and Ten (New Heroes) have solo singles as well.
It's because of the amount of discipline and talent these kpop idols have... they can create any subunit with members from different groups and make it work. But Super M is comprised of the best (main) male dancers in SM so the live and dance performance should be super dope!

Anyway, this Jopping also the song that takes me back to Kpop after long time hiatus because I'm bored with kpop stereotype.

The one that caught my eyes mostly is Taemin, a member of SHINee group, compare to others his all body moving following every note, his movement unreal, his fluidity is in another level.
I watched many times of jopping, then "Supercar"-his Vroom-ing phenomenal, others can't do it lol..
One of his MV pop up on my screen is his solo "MOVE", Dang ..i fell in love with his musicality, so different than usual kpop, and SHINee wow..every rookies group need to learn what is STAGE PRESENCE means from SHINee, all their concert SLAYED, !
Excuse me miss, Picasso, Dynamite, Stranger, Lucifer, Sherlock...(the best concert is SHINEE world IV, Tokyo Dome) they delivered well of dancing, Their vocals are insane- singing without lypsinc amaze me and their expression/emotion showed on their performances. It makes me feel i was there in their concert..so good (now i kinda understand why they called Shinee is The Prince's of Kpop...). In this group, i can't say i have bias because they are one package of perfection.

They're literally all the most talented and popular members of their groups, and all have unreal stage presence. K-pop fandoms have a lot of disagreements, but when it comes to discussing best dancers, its usually a conversation of "Yeah, but after Taemin comes...."
All of them would have stellar solo careers (as Taemin and Baekhyun have already shown).
I personally think they have the best 3 dancers in K-pop currently in this group (Taemin, Kai, and Ten). Taeyong is also absurd.
You asked if they're singers or rappers. Yes. Everyone in this group is a legitimate triple threat (vocal, rap, dance). The guy with the grey hair that you said could be a rapper for all you know is definitely a vocalist, but we've seen him rap before if I remember correctly.
Its funny you said that it felt like we were watching an Avengers movie, because they're being branded as the "Avengers of K-pop" and they supposedly have a collaboration with Marvel coming up.
I don't believe any of them have contributed to the production/writing of this album, but Baekhyun, Mark, Taeyong have all written before for their groups. Taeyong and Mark write their own raps on about 95-98% of NCT songs.
This group has had some backlash against them because people feel like they're going to do this to the detriment of their groups. Not only that, Kai and Baekhyun are on tour currently with EXO, and were seen nearly collapsing due to exhaustion. Kai has lost a lot of muscle mass, and this SuperM tour is Baekhyun's third tour of the year, as he also had his solo debut this year.
So I'm not going to pretend that I'm 100% happy with this debut. But that's more out of concern for artists I care so much about. Unfortunately, I'm going to buy tickets to the concert tomorrow, as its unlikely I'll ever get another chance to see the members of EXO, SHINee, and WayV in America, as SHINee and EXO haven't come here in a LONG time and WayV is the C-pop division of NCT, so I'd be shocked if they had a North America tour.
Don't let that detract from the music tho. I think Jopping is legitimately the weakest song on their debut EP, and its a strong song. How could it have been any other way with a group this talented, right?

I've watched a couple of mv reactions to this song and I think this is my favorite reaction so far. Comments are very on point and give a little bit more feedback on the beat analysis and production aspect. I like the way you described it as if it's like a superhero movie quality production because that's exactly how I feel about the mv too after watching it the first time.

This is SuperM’s first music video, so to learn more about the members, you’ll have to see stuff from their original group (check out SuperM’s mini album for other songs). 4 members are part of the NCT mega-group (over 20 members split into different “units”). Check out NCT U “Seventh Sense” and “Boss” for Taeyong, Mark, Ten and Lucas. Two are from EXO- Kai and Baekhyun (dude with pink hair who sang that note). I would recommend “Monster”, and “Tempo” from EXO. And last guy, Taemin, is from Shinee. Many Shinee members are currently serving in the military, so Taemin is doing a lot of solo stuff.

To get to know SuperM and to better understand the story and concept behind "Jopping" you should really watch the behind the sense/making of video called "SuperM: The Story of Jopping." Its an official video on SuperM's TH-cam channel. its one of the best behind the sense Kpop shooting videos I have watched and it really helps to explain the concept and story behind the song and the group. Its well worth the 30-plus minute video. Please check it out, even if you don't react to it. :D
If you follow EXO's concept and storyline even a little, you would know that SM doesn't do anything halfway. When they come up with a concept for a group they go all in and even the most minute of details are used to tell that story. That is why SM Entertainment is one of the big 3 entertainment companies in Korea and around the world and it's why it commands the top spot. SuperM is specifically designed to try to help SM grab even more of the U.S. market. That is why their debut and all of their recent and upcoming promotions are focused in the U.S. If you notice, SuperM starts with S and ends with M -- SM.

SuperM is a project by the korean company SM and the american company Capitol Records. So they had a huge budget. All the members are from SM groups: NCT, EXO and SHINEE. They came together to form SuperM aka "The Avengers of K-Pop". They actually have some sort of deal with Marvel. SuperM are debuting in America and promoting in America, very different to any other K-Pop group

Taemin is from shinee and he is the main dancer. He actually only started out as a dancer when he debuted. He didn't have any lines because he was considered tone deaf. Now he is one of the top solo artists in Korea and people often compare him to mj as the MJ of kpop. However, in his music and music videos he wants to get rid of that mindset that people have that men can't be feminine and sort of break those barriers as you can see a lot in Taemin's music video 'Move'. Check him out. He is great!

I’m late to this party but I need to say Lee Taemin originally of ShiNee, & a solo artist since 2014, is one of THE best I’ve ever seen. Not just in K-POP but in general. His stage & screen presence is unmatched. He’s often called King Taemin. I suggest you check out the Korean Air safety video SuperM did. It’s called Let’s go everywhere, & you can see more of that SuperM chemistry. Baekhyun (the high note) is an amazing vocalist & everyone in SuperM is very talented. I actually only knew Taemin but now really rate the other guys too.
So if you wanna get to know the members more, check out their original groups too. Pink Haired awesome vocal "Baekhyun" and Center/dancer with silver hair from helecopter "Kai" are both from group EXO. Taemin is the Michael Jackson dancer with blonde hair. He is from group SHINee. The other four, Lucas, Taeyong, Mark and Ten are all in NCT main group or subunit of NCT. You should definitely check them all out, they are amazing!!!

SuperM is under SM Entertainment. This is their debut. Jopping is the title track and they released a mini-album with it, just titled The First Mini-Album, and it only has 5 songs unfortunately. I wish it was a full LP! SM is specifically promoting them in North America. There are 7 members. 1 from SHINee: Taemin. 2 from EXO: Kai and Baekhyun. 4 from NCT: Taeyong and Mark who are in the NCT subunit NCT 127 (among other subunits), and Ten and Lucas who are in NCT's Chinese subunit WayV. SM's public announcement of this was met with fairly mixed emotions by fans of these groups. On twitter a hashtag of SuperM disband party was trending. There were excited fans supporting the group and members, and there were hateful fans against the group. Many fans were concerned about members being overworked and how it would interfere with promotions/comebacks of the groups the members are originally from. For instance, Mark is in every NCT unit except WayV and that's probably only because he's not Chinese. Taeyong is also frequently in NCT units/promotions and NCT 127 just got done with a tour when it was announced. EXO's members are starting to enlist in the military and fans want an album this year, especially with Suho (the leader) having to enlist soon. Baekhyun spoiled that EXO is working on a new album to release this year, but like last year it's pushed towards the end of the year, previously making fans questions if an album was even going to happen. SM said SuperM will *not* interfere with the other groups' activities, but personally I'm not so sure about that. I do support SuperM, though, and think it's so cool to have this group. It feels _historic_ to me, and I've heard other fans say the same thing! That was probably more detail than I needed to go into...
EXO has an overall concept of being from EXO PLANET and they have superpowers. Kai and Baekhyun are the two members of EXO in SuperM. Baekhyun's power is light and Kai's power is teleportation, so he's the one who teleported in the beginning. I'm still not sure what the concept of SuperM is overall other than being The Avengers of Kpop. They also have a collaboration with Marvel happening, which I have no idea what that means or what that's going to be. This is just my opinion, but I'm assuming it was fairly easy for SM to get an in with Marvel since EXO has a song Lightsaber that they came out with after Disney/Star Wars contacted them to promote The Force Awakens in Asia back in 2015. Anyway, they seem to be incorporating EXO's powers, which were also shown in Baekhyun and Kai's individual trailers.
SM isn't as good/open with releasing tracks that the members actually produce. It's mostly lyrics to some songs that are written by members. I do think they're allowing more freedom for members of groups (like with EXO's newest subunit EXO-SC), but it's nothing like SEVENTEEN or BTS, who from as far as I can tell pretty much have complete creative control. I could be wrong on that in terms of those two groups' creative control, but that's what it seems like to me.
You noticed the rapsinging! I think that's what people have been calling it. It's like instead of going into a full rap, many SM rappers 'rapsing.'

So Grey hair with motorcycle is Taemin(SHINEE member) yes he has M.J. moves because he is big fan of him, pink hair is Baekhyun part of EXO(main singer but he can also dance very well), Kai is that one who teleported(main dancer of EXO, also rapper, vocalist and he can do many things), 4:50 is Taeyong(leader of NCT he can rap, sing, dance he is super talented and beautiful), 8:35 is Mark(part of NCT he can rap and dance super good), also Lucas is rapper and he can dance well(part of WayV) and at the end that one who danced and jumped is Tem(part of WayV he can sing and dance very well).
