You inspired me to take off range mod and try reload mod. That plus saving the speedy boost to find other DDs are great tips. I dusted off my Regolo and a few games with purple numbers later I can say your advice is amazing and I had been playing this boat all wrong up until now.
I play legends and have never played the pc version, but the way you breakdown these games and strategies is phenomenal. Can’t wait until we get this ship in legends
Question: what about playing range mod but _not_ AFT? That's how I've set mine up. I can instead put those four points into the two consumables skills plus preventative maintenance while still getting that 11 km range.
Really looking forward to these reviews now! I found the low gun range on in the lower tiers (5-7) actually helpfull, not being as outspotted that hard you can go dark very quickly after exchanging fire. Maybe I just had a lot of luck though :P
I think a 1-point skill which is heavily under-estimated on Regolo is the +30% flood chance. I don't think you need BFT in Regolo or AFT for that matter, but the little bit of flood chance once you've killed one or two DDs helps to make a 60% Flood chance on a torp belt become a 75%. It's the small things which can flood a BB to death in late game.
I think the idea of giving the Italian DDs decent torp range is that they're supposed to be sorta meh at using their guns vs. cruisers and BBs (due to the low range), so the decent torps are your anti-BB weapon. I think the Pan-Asian CLs have a similar concept; they have really good torps that can't hit DDs, so they have guns that are supposed to be good vs. DDs. Now, do things actually play out like that? Not really. And IDK why Alvaro has the same torps when it has actual range and normal smokes to farm with guns from. Also, how do you play this line vs. DDs that outspot you in the opening minutes of a match? Feels like I eat shit from the entire enemy team if I ever try to keep pushing in to counterspot early. One other thing I like about salvo weight vs. ROF is that with more 'discrete' salvos I have an easier time walking my fire onto target. If I've got 1-2 salvos in the air at a time I can more easily track where I was aiming for each one to adjust the salvo I'm firing. With a firehose you can't really do that. Range mod is bait because if you tank range mod, you might as well play a French/Russian DD.
@@nlb137 un against dds that out spot u , he did mention in the vid and u can check it out again that u use the speed boost to push into dds out spotting u or use the speed boost to run away fast enough so that they cannot detect u anymore? U can check it though
opening of the match you do not solo push to try to outspot dds, you need to team up with a sub or low conceal dd and back them up with this crazy gunpower. later game where dds have at most 1 helper behind them you can afford to commit on them like i do in both games in this video. early game you support something, if thats impossible you farm a bit and wait to see how the game players out caps are only worth about 40 points/minute you dont have to suicide for that spotting and getting a kill is worth more than having a cap for 3 minutes

After almost getting schooled by an enemy regolo with the dpm build I decided to change it back lol. Same with the atlanta, i got schooled in my IFHE atlanta by a TGG atlanta in ranked. If theres one thing i hate, its being out DPMed
Well i guess i'm a smoothbrain with my regolo rangemod full smoke build no conceal lol. I can still surprise DDs with islands and all so whatever, smoothbrain ftw, here we glue the left click and shoot 24/7
have you unlokced the secret sauce for the T9 and T10 Italian DD's? Caus i liked the line from t5 to t8. Very easy for me to play. But I absolutly hate t9 and t10, play very differently than the rest of the line.

Yeah I found the grind totally sucks. I've only had 5 games in this so am not really qualified to talk about it. It does seem a very interesting ship because it's obviously pretty unique. The main problem is I guess Sansonetti it kinda mandatory on this if you're not taking range mod and I just prefer him on my Venezia since it's one of maybe my favorite ships in the game. I was also semi-curious why you don't go with the 'recommended' captain build which looks like it's not totally stupid. I mean, the 2 point skill to buff the consumables might make sense right if, as you say, the consumables are so important.
it's fine without sansonetti, honestly not as good on regolo as ven or colombo or lauria, just nice as it lets you DEFINITELY not need to take range mod. having 4s extra smoke and 3s extra speedboost isnt worth it to me compared to 10% dpm from FB or 5% dpm from BFT
I love the powercreep that makes no real sense. Italian ships are better than US and Japanese ships while having no real world basis.. 10 years from now they'll be out of ideas for new ships so we'll get the Somalian navy that'll have the best ships in the game.
I wouldnt play this ship only because I don’t have Sansonetti. A real shame most of the Italian ships are almost unplayable without him and he is no longer available. Idk what kind of crack WG balance team is smoking with these kind of decisions.
Future Regolo buff to get that speedboost to 60 iirc is nice!

thanks. yes, at low tier the bad range is fine because there is no radar. having low range in tier 10 is horrific. 11.5 is just enough tho
Uh sure this is one of the powerful dds but the rest of the line is suffering cause of the no range ...
if you're able the special commander helps

it is certainly more chill to farm like that, once you accept that open water you'll never outspot a dd you are free to farm
