I'm a security guard at a mall and I always look the other way when I see dumpster divers when I'm the only guard on site. If the businesses throw it away they shouldn't keep people from taking it.
If it is on garbage, trowed away, it is garbage, anyone should pick it!! Its no longer property … what a mentality!! Donate is better than put it on garbage it is very selfish atitude and mentality…
Thank you. A lot of stuff thrown away should be recycled if not caught by a dumpster diver. I hate that people just toss everything into the garbage. And it's great that people can make money by diverting the stuff from a landfill. 😊
The lids are not only cherished by canners but crafters use them to make various ornaments. But the best part of you finding them is you kept them out of landfill. Like all the rest of your found treasures. Many Thanks.
'This' is my favorite scrapper channel!! Mike doesn't have a shy bone in his body when he approaches the dumpsters, and he jumps right in and rummages around inside looking for treasures like the Tazmanian Devil.
That's the best way to do it. Sometimes people will hide stuff for some reason. This is the best time of year to go. Businesses are cleaning out old inventory and they often throw it away as a tax write off.
Back in the 60s when I was a little girl(loving, the grandma life these days! ) there where still honest to goodness dumps - stuff wasn’t buried on a regular basis ever. My Mom and dDad would go to the dump and dig around. There was a lot of nasty stuff but there was also some true treasures. Furniture, tools, antiques, all kinds of good useful/sellable stuff. Lots and lots of scrap metal. Fun times!!
Don't think those are lids for standard Ball/Kerr type canning jars. Looked like for the medium sized pickle jars. Maybe Mike could take a few minutes to check if they fit Ball type jars or not.
So much Stuuuuufffff, your enthusiasm is boundless. You go for the little stuff and after that anything large is a bonus. Thanks for preventing all that needless landfill
10-15 years ago, I was a property supervisor for 6 different apartment complexes. I had a couple of guys that scrapped for me. They would show up and haul out old appliances and water heaters from the the buildings as needed along with all old brass hardware, locks, everything metal. They had an old truck and trailer, A normal week was 1 or 3 frigs, 4-10 dishwashers, 2 or 3 stoves, and several hundred pounds of assorted metal.
Can we scrap electronics for cash here or have we. Got to give it to the council for free.? I haven't got enough to take to the scrappy to find out but I could get enough if I could sell it!😉
Oh man Mike!! I just love your videos!! You're so funny! You're such a hard worker!! You not only make my day better... but you make thousands of people happy 😊. Stay safe ❤
Sometimes truckers are forced to throw away damaged cases that have perfectly good product in them. I once had a pallet of brisket that was refused by a consignee because the boxes were crushed and my dispatcher just told me to find a dumpster and toss it. I ended up seeing a church van in a Walmart parking lot and asked if they wanted it all. I helped load it into their van and kept a brisket for myself. They were appreciative for the 500lbs worth of meat.
Wow! best scrapper Ive seen. When I found you I did a binge watch & am finally up to date. I love your dialogue and antics. You keep me smiling. May you always find "good" trash.
Mike ! Mike! Mike! Thanks for taking us along! Aw man that knee bang made my old knee hurt !!! I appreciate you so much! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work!!!!
The StarWars scene when Luke and Hahn are stuck in the garbage compactor always comes to mind when Mike's really getting after it. And as any real scrap man knows getting after it is the only way to be successful in this line of work. As my big homie Gates says, "big steps, move in silence." Keep getting it Mike, JunkinJakeJones
Love it when you find alot of good, easy scrap! You definitely deserve the fruits of your labor. I always enjoy your videos. Scrap on Mike. Stay safe 🙏 ❤️
One time I found a whole butt load of keys in a dumpster. Between the mountain of keys and a couple brass fittings I also found I filled up a 5 gallon bucket. That was a decent turn in.
Awesome video man I've been watching all your older videos also I really like when you mix the dumpster diving and the curbside together you find some pretty awesome stuff but most you make me laugh a lot thanks for the laughs
Thank you Mike for keeping those batteries and ballasts out of the dump, along with the wires and anything that would have otherwise ended up in a dump or landfill.
I am one of your followers and I love your channel. All of your videos mix vitality, effort and love at the same time. I really liked and appreciated it. Good luck.
Well done Mike. The person that chucked the lids in the bin isn’t the brightest person. They could of got a few quid and done some recycling. Unreal what folk throw away. Glad you are taking advantage of numpties Mike.
I saw this to check it out. Your funny & having a great sense of humor too! You got some very interesting stuff & I like the part you heard a peeping nose& BAM!!
I have only watched 2 videos from your channel and I can’t believe how much stuff you find. It’s amazing how much of that stuff you pull out is not meant for trash dumping and it pleases me dearly to see you pull it out and scrap it properly, keep up the good work Mike!
What is scary....there is just so much more that just gets tossed into the landfill...UGH!! I find my share of stuff. This guy Mike....LEGEND of SCRAP!!
Happy weekend Mike and Laura, Your the king of the lids ! Those monitors are touch screen Point Of Sale systems. The screens with the credit card readers could be a part of a restaurant where the staff pit in their orders. I still have a few of them when they modernized the casino pit area. Nice scrap run tonight. As for those locks they might been in a hardware store and discontinued the locks and Cheaper to toss them out.
Would LOVE to see an in-depth video of what you do with all the plunder AFTER the dives. Like do you sell the good stuff or do you bust it all down to components and sell for scrap or what?
Depends....on the size of the jars that they will fit on. If they're not standard canning jar sizes like the wide mouth or regular mouth. From the video they kind of looked like the size you would find on the medium sized pickle jars.
@@donaldcadwell3911 That is what I am thinking too. But, I reuse all jars and so do my Amish friends up here nin northern mo. They would love for me to work a deal and get some cases of them lids. Shred steel is what, $.03/lb right now. And shipping ups would be cheap. Right price and I might snap them all up!
Hey Mike, Why don't you try to sell all those lids. I'm sure you'll find a lot of people that can their own veggies, sauce and so on. Nothing better than a great deal on lids. That's what they have to buy every year. Take care and be safe.

I turn scrap metal into precious metals, Gold and Silver! I have dove into dumpsters.....not like Mike does!! WOW man!! You are a legend!!
I do the same with the motherboards ( Platinum Group Metals ) found in all electronics .
Praise be! Perfect timing and just what a lazy Saturday afternoon demands. Thanks Mike!
Your dumpster diving agility is amazing. All those lids in the trash is angering. Love seeing you salvage them! 👍👍👍
sell them to someone who likes to can and make stuff in mason jars. sell by the poi d
The beeping and then the explosion... scared my cats with my laughing! 😂😂
As a canner, I would be in tears to find so many lids
Not too long ago we couldn’t find lids! Now i pick some up anytime i see them.
@@rosie9714makes me wonder why they were thrown out.
I would check where they were manufactured. I try to stay away from places that like to add lead.
As a crafter I would have struck gold finding those lids.
All those lids makes me sad canning lids are expensive

Thank you showing your grabber. I fix myself one. I have a grabber but it does work for heavy items.

This guy's got enthusiasm
All those cases of lids can bring a lot of money to sell. Probably more than scrapping them. Canners would be so happy with those lids.
Yes they would. Not so much if they're made in China.
For sure canning lids got real hard to find ! Sell them suckers

last year there was a lid shortage, this year Mike is finding them in the trash.
