I have watched many pattern drafting videos for shorts/trousers but this has got to be the least confusing one lol ! Thank you SOO much for explaining everything so clearly. I cannot wait to try it out.

Just come across you. I am a completely beginner and want to learn how to make clothes for myself and family. You explain each step so well and so clear. Can't wait to make these and more. Also looking forward to watching more of your videos. So glad I found you 😀
awww! I love this comment. I’m really happy you find my explanations helpful. Feedback like this helps to know what I’m doing right and what to do more of. I’m excited for you & cant wait to make even more amazing videos for you to learn from. 😊
Love the tutorial but I am a bit confused on how to calculate what extra space needs to be removed on the waistlines to make them fit after the darts have been drawn in. Could anyone explain how to work this out please. Thank you 🙂
Oh my days, a short pattern that address the booty at the back? Yes please!!! And you have such a talent for instruction! You were so clear and explained all the right things, thank you!
I've been sewing for 5years now....self thought, sold many many products....and still a pant fly was my greatest fear....now I just completed my first pants with a fly, like I'm blown away and I'm so grateful....love from Trinidad 🇹🇹
that’s amazing! I’m grateful it was helpful for you and I’m even more grateful for your encouraging words. I keep going for people like you. much love 🧡🇯🇲
Thanks for this, sis... I have the necessary supplies and will become a high waisted shorts making maniac during this lockdown. PS... still love my bags! Thanks for sharing.
If you have old portable sewing machine can you give one .I want to make like your ,very easy you make and perfect nice tutorial love it God bless .Thank you for a blog.
very useful video many thanks I still do have a question, as I am not very familiar with the notions - when you make the pattern, you said 'waist to tight' measure, but when you show how and what to measure there is no 'waist -to-tight' given/specified - would you please make a short note what this effectively is? many many thanks!
Amazing video thank you! I am wondering how this would work with a non-stretchy material how it would fit over hips while putting it on if the waist is already cut to size? Could someone please explain? Thanks!
Great tutorial! I'd like to make these out of stretchy material for my Halloween costume-- any tips on how to adjust the pattern besides negative seam allowance?
Wow, fabulous video and exactly what I was looking for!!! I love drafting patterns using my own measurements! Your instructions were so clear. I am curious though, what kind of fabric did you use? It looks like a woven. Is there any stretch in the woven fabric? Also, where would you build in the ease if it is just a plain woven fabric? (How many inches of ease would you add and where to make sitting and squatting comfortable?)
Great video...I love how you draft both the front and back together... its easier to understand. Can I make this for a child using the same concept or would it be different?
I really enjoyed your video, and I've subscribed to it. I have a question please, when you were taking your body measurement, hip, thigh and crotch you measured from your waist and after adding the band to it, the short is still at that length. Are we suppose to deduct the band width from those lengths, if not won't it affect the fitting of the crouch since it will be longer than it was measured. Thanks!
@SEW QUAINT. Also are we to measure from the band to the crotch or we deduct the band which can be 2 inches before we measure the crotch and full length?
Love the info but fyi the intro volume compared to the voice over is crazy! I thought I was going to blow out a speaker because I had to turn it up to the highest setting just to hear you and then the intro kicked in blasting out the phone
Hi! Thanks for this! I have been looking for a tutorial for a shorts pattern and this is by far the easiest to follow! I have one question. Is the waist to thigh measurement at 1:30 same as the length of the shorts at 0:47? So if you want to make the shorts longer do you extend the waist to thigh measurement?
hey! thanks for watching 🙂 I appreciate it. yes they’re the same and that’s definitely how you’d make the shorts longer. Let me know if you have anymore questions! 🙏🏾
Hey! Awesome video super detailed!! I love it 😻! Just a quick question do I use the same pattern if I wanna make wide leg short? Should I just extend the crotch and thigh line?
the side seam should be straight as possible. in professional pattern it is straight, most books are wrong it kept secret it took me 8 years to have a best pattern drafting formula for men's and women's shirt, pant and jacket.

SiMple and very comprehensive idea of màking short pants making!

Really detailed and interesting video 😍. I really wanted to see how you joined the pattern pieces to make the shorts. Do you have a video for it?
in what way do you mean join the pattern pieces?
@@sewquaint yes, the making of the complete shorts.

Can i ask if this method can i use also for kids size?
yes! once you have their measurements
@@sewquaint thank you so. Much

Add 1/2” allowance to all sides and 1/2” ease for a looser fit. You can always adjust it to fit tighter afterwards if you want that.
Can you do a simple elastic waisted shorts pattern? Thank you!
I’m posting that one in a few! 😇
Thank you for this
The bag thooooo
What’s the story with the bag 😻😻😻😻
Great tutorial! I'd like to make these out of stretchy material for my Halloween costume-- any tips on how to adjust the pattern besides negative seam allowance?
I would say use the elastic waistband shorts pattern instead. It’s perfect for stretch fabrics. This design is better for non-stretch fabrics
Here’s the tutorial for that th-cam.com/video/rX3ic_dxH1o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yXFy0buyXgZQlhsP

thank you! you can add about 1/4” of ease at the hips. Also, I used a non-stretch cotton type of fabric.
Hello😘 can you pls. explain well at 4:40 to 7:00 because that is the only thing i dont get clear..thank you so much😍😘😘😘
was about to ask the same question. 😅 i got a little confused on that part too, but the rest of the tutorial was easy to follow 😊

Great video...I love how you draft both the front and back together... its easier to understand. Can I make this for a child using the same concept or would it be different?
I believe you can use the same concept once you have their measurements. Try it and let me know how it turns out.
& thanks! 🤗
@@sewquaint thanks for the quick reply will try and let you know how it turns out 🙂
Hi. Could one extend this and use it for full pants?
Was testing out different patterns to see which works easiest me. Did you went ahead and add the half inch extra for the dart when you were cutting?
I didn’t but you can

Hello dear, please by thigh line do you mean thigh circumference? Wonderful video.
hey! yes, that’s what I mean. But the thigh line only represents a half of that.
When you measure , do u measure in inches and call it circumference
What if I don't want darts in my shorts?

thank you! I’m happy you enjoyed it. Extend the thigh line to meet the crotch line. You can let the crotch line stay as is.
Should my hip line be lower than my crotch line?
Nope. The hip line is higher than the crotch line.
wht if I want the shorts a little longer
hey! draw the thigh length to whatever length you want it to be and follow the steps as usual. I could do a video on how to do pants tooo
@@sewquaint So not a pant length but like shorts to the knee area
I'm sorry but could someone please explain further the reduction in the waist.
