ऐसा ही एक विकल्प है आईयूडी यानी इंट्रा यूटेराइन डिवाइस. आकार में छोटे पेपर क्लिप के बराबर दिखने वाली आईयूडी कई आकार में आती है.
गोल और झालरदार से लेकर चार पैर वाली मकड़ी की शक्ल तक में ये गर्भ निरोधक उपलब्ध है.
भारत में सबसे ज़्यादा चलन में है, अंग्रेज़ी के अक्षर T के आकार वाली डिवाइस, यानी कॉपर-टी. ये प्लास्टिक की होती है और इसमें धागा निकला रहता है.
पश्चिमी देशों में इसकी मांग ज़्यादा है. इसे महिला की कोख में फिट किया जाता है. कंपनी और क्वालिटी के आधार पर ये डिवाइस गर्भाशय में क़रीब 12 साल तक रह सकती है.
