The subjects either turned into zombies or mutated beyond recognition. After all, Dr. Smith decided to give up the case and sent a truck with barrels of virus slurry for disposal. But on the way, the truck got into an accident, the zombie virus got free and the appocalypse began
Woodlands, After the chosen one has been born; Fast forward twenty years later, the boy has grown into "The Chosen One" (The Chosen One) while his saviour becomes The Elder of Woodlands- a small riverside community in the country. The Chosen One learns basic survival skills, how to use firearms and how to cure people. He uses his skills to help his neighbours with their troubles. Very soon, The Elder tells The Chosen One to wait for him at the fireplace for a secret meeting. The Elder explains that winter is about to arrive and supplies are running out, and the settlers are now living off the family pets, though most of them do not realise it. The Elder instructs The Chosen One to collect resources from nearby locations. During one of his missions with a friend, Frank, The Chosen One was surrounded by zombies in a building and was unable to escape. Frank drives off without him and zombies close in on The Chosen One, which leads to him getting bitten and losing consciousness. He wakes up ten days later without turning into a zombie. However, he is left with deep bite marks and cuts on his left arm. After heading back to the town's Hospital and getting stitches for his wounds, he finds out from The Elder that some scientists from the Science Base, led by a crazy scientist called Smith, had captured and did horrible experiments on The Chosen One's mother, which in turn gave her son immunity from the zombie virus. He also reveals that it was him who helped her escape from the base. This gave The Chosen One a sense of hope for saving humanity and set him on the quest of finding the cure. Just before the winter, Frank steals all of the supplies and tries to flee from the Woodlands. The Chosen One chases after him on his Motorbike and finds Frank at the side of the road attempting to repair his broken down car. Frank tells The Chosen One that he was trying to bring supplies to the Woodlands before his car broke down, but The Chosen One points out that Frank was travelling in the wrong direction. Frank gives The Chosen One a bribe of 2000 Silver Coins if he lets him go, but The Chosen One refuses. This starts a fight and Frank tries to gun The Chosen One down with his Winchester M1912 shotgun, but The Chosen One quickly shoots Frank in the abdomen with a M1 Garand and cripples him. Frank retreats to his broken down car and begs The Chosen One to spare him as zombies close in on him. The Chosen One replies that he will cover him from the car, which is what Frank would always say when he and The Chosen One went on missions together. Frank tries to shoot several zombies, but is overpowered and gets devoured by the horde. The Elder then tasks The Chosen One to destroy the Science Base where the gruesome experiments were carried out. He hacks and unlocks the main door and carries out numerous trips to gather information about the goings-on in the base before its abandonment. The Science Base is infested with zombies, but The Chosen One eliminates them and heads to the final chamber where important documents were stored. There, he meets Experiment 626, a mutated zombie which has broken out of its enclosure in the base's reception area. The Chosen One kills the monster, then goes to the main computer in the chamber and triggers the self-destruct system of the base. The Chosen One dashes out and barely makes it out alive and the Science Base explodes and collapses into a heap of rubble. The base is destroyed and sealed completely and he is tasked by The Elder to search for more Science Bases in other parts of the country. The Chosen One bids farewell to the group and heads to Springfield, a nearby city.
Springfield; After arriving at Springfield, The Chosen One finds Andrew, who is the doctor of Springfield. The Chosen One soon finds out that no one would tell him the second Science base's location without something in return. He helps out the Springfield's citizens, both saving lives and doing dirty jobs. He soon finds out from the people that the city's safety is in danger because of an eccentric and corrupt Mayor and other problems. Andrew also says that his daughter Ruby has been missing for a few days and tasks The Chosen One with finding her. The Chosen One then meets a ranger named Chuck, who was worried about Ruby's disappearance and thinks that she was already dead. He asks The Chosen One to look around the Radio Tower for her as she was last seen there. After searching for a while, he finds Ruby injured and hiding in a radio transmission building. The Chosen One brings Ruby back and as luck would have it, she knows a location to a few Science Bases, but will only give the information in exchange for help with the city's numerous issues. Ruby then tells The Chosen One about Springfield's Science Base- Science Base 2. Sadly, the Science Base 2 is no longer occupied by scientists and instead serves as a shelter for Tramps. The Chosen One asks for directions, and the Tramps say that information was hidden at the Science Bases top floors, which were so infested with zombies that access to the elevator that led there were restricted. After clearing the areas of zombies, The Chosen One starts to gather up information and connect the dots. Soon afterwards, Chuck needs an outpost built by the Gas Station so that he can scout the area to kill zombies. After building the safehouse, The Chosen One tunes into a radio (Chuck requested a radio be put in the house) and listens to a conversation of 2 unknown people talking about a guy called Rocket, and later mentions Chuck and plans to get rid of him with the entire of Springfield. The Chosen One goes back to Chuck and tells him about Rocket. The Chosen One and Chuck head to the Airport and Chuck tells the reason why Rocket hates him. It turns out that Rocket used to be a ranger like Chuck, and was also Chuck's best friend. However, he later fell out with him when Rocket sawed off his right hand to escape a horde of zombies and blamed it on Chuck. Rocket then descended into a life of crime and plans to build a nuclear bomb to detonate and destroy the city in order to kill off Chuck and take revenge. After a short scouting trip to the Airport, which was now captured by Bandits, The Chosen One discovers the nuclear device in a disused hangar already fully built. Before he knew it though, The Chosen One was knocked out with a blow by someone behind him. The Chosen One regains consciousness and soon realises that he was in a room that was deep under the Airport's hangar. The person who captured him, who turns out to be Rocket, beats him with his metal arm that he converted to a grenade launcher and interrogates him. The Chosen One says that Chuck sent him and Rocket hits him again with his metal arm and accidentally breaks the chair The Chosen One was tied to. Rocket does not realise this and leaves the room with a Bandit Chief to move the bomb to the Sewers for detonation. The Chosen One, who was feigning unconsciousness, gets up and uses a screwdriver to prise open the locked door. Afterwards, he escapes and relays new information to Chuck. The Chosen One then goes to the Sewers to disarm the bomb. After hacking the bomb's onboard computer, he unlocks the bomb and removes the fissile materials. However, Rocket soon discovers him and attacks The Chosen One, launching grenades from his arm while firing his MAC-10 with his other arm. The Chosen One soon defeats Rocket and leaves Rocket dead on the floor. The Chosen One returns to Springfield a hero (obviously) and Chuck thanks him for slaying Rocket. Andrew then tells The Chosen One that people were mysteriously disappearing in the night and rumours of a "Plant God Cult" were spreading around the city. The Chosen One travels to the Sewers and discovers the entrance to the Cult, which was hidden behind a bookshelf. The Chosen One pretends that he was willing to join the organisation and finds out more about the cult. The Cult members reveal a secret door covered in leaves and opened it, revealing a large mutated zombie plant (the Plant God) which appeared to be sleeping. The Chosen One heads back and tells everything to Andrew, who prepares a lethal poison to kill off the Plant God. Andrew fills the poison in a large syringe and hands it over to The Chosen One, who goes off to the Cult Base at once. The Chosen One waited till nightfall when all the members were sleeping and unlocked the hidden door with a stolen key. The Chosen One sneaks over to the plant to try and inject the poison, but accidentally kicks over a bottle and disturbs the plant. The plant rears up and tries to attack him, but is killed by The Chosen One. Afterwards, Luke, the city's car repairman and farmer, instructs The Chosen One to restore Norman's Farm- an old, abandoned farm overwhelmed by a zombie infestation. After clearing the area of zombies, Luke sows some seeds and the farm starts to grow crops. It now seems that most things were going well. The Mayor requests The Chosen One for help. The Mayor wants a Great Wall to be built around the city to keep out Bandits, Tramps and even Travellers. The nearby Quarry also has a major Bandit's base and The Mayor needs materials from them to build his great wall. The Chosen One heads to the base and strikes a deal with the Bandits to give building materials for the wall in exchange for money. The Bandits seemed oddly receptive to the idea of the wall and told The Chosen One and The Mayor's men to meet them at the Quarry at night. As night fell, The Chosen One and The Mayor's men arrived in a military truck and one of The Mayor's men hands over a briefcase containing the money. Suddenly, the Bandits start opening fire and The man holding the briefcase was killed. It turned out that it was a trap. After the incident, The Mayor ordered an all-out attack on the bandits. The Chosen One and The Mayor's men head to the Bandit's base using The Mayor's armoured car. The Mayor's men opened fire at the waiting Bandits while The Chosen One used the vehicle's Rocket Cannon. As a final blow to the base, the quarry's water was poisoned and the Bandit's base was burned to the ground. A few days later, news came from Luke that Norman's farm was on fire. The Chosen One rushes to the farm and uses Buckets of water to put out the fire, but the farm was damaged beyond repair and therefore unable to grow more crops. The Chosen One discovers discarded gas cans around the farm and realises that they were the same brand of gas provided by The Mayor to burn down the Bandit's base. The Chosen One lockpicks the safe hidden behind a map of the Great Wall in The Mayor's office and retrieves unscrupulous plans to build the wall and plans to silence Ruby, as she had heard small snippets of the plan to burn down the farm.
COTS; Ruby reveals to The Chosen One that another Science Base was in a distant city, The City of Sun and The Chosen One travels there. He soon finds out that the city is controlled by the military and access to Science Bases were limited. To get to the Science Base 3 he must help regain the army's declining authority in the city. The city is in disrepair and arguments start between three main factions- The Army, The Cutters and the Blue Gang. The power-hungry leaders start taking advantage of The Chosen One's strength. The Chosen One succeeds in stabilizing the situation by slaying a Dune Worm which was drinking from pipes and using up the city's water supply, destroying a super robot that was made and piloted by The Chosen One's friend, CJ, who later betrayed him. The Chosen One later goes on to eliminate several other bosses like The Killer, who was part of the Cutters. He later restoring necessary sources energy and helping the military gain control of the area. The Chosen One is forced to kill Phoebe, former scientist who acted as the Cutters' spy, but in doing so he saves Thomas - another scientist. Thomas instructs The Chosen One to save his colleagues from the Cutters' grasp. After fighting his way through the treacherous Science Base 3 and freeing Thomas' colleagues, the Chosen One decides to travel with Thomas to Northtown - where he can finally begin creating the cure.
Northtown; In the snowy Northtown, Thomas introduces The Chosen One to Adam, a fellow scientist. It doesn't take long for them to realise that Adam is actually the Chosen One's biological father, and Joan, Adam's daughter, is the Chosen One's sister. After this touching reunion, The Chosen One doesn't hesitate and start working on the cure. Their efforts are slowed down by Smith, the crazy scientist who wants to dominate the world. The Chosen One helps out the citizens of Northtown with different problems and assists Joan in preparing a "plan B" in case the cure can't be created - a spaceship that could travel away from the zombie-ridden world. But it doesn't come to that, because Adam succeeds in producing the cure using his son's blood. The moment of triumph doesn't last long - Smith kills Adam and grabs the cure for himself. The Chosen One swears revenge and the war between Smith's army of bandits and peaceful survivors is set in motion. Thomas organises a mobilization - The Chosen One tries to recruit new allies and gain the necessary equipment. The final conflict ensues in Smith's castle, where the Chosen One finally defeats the crazy scientist and his modified marine monster - Octomander. The cowardly Smith will do anything to survive - turns out he saved Adam by turning him into a half-zombie and kept him as his trump card. The Chosen One is given a choice: Let Smith go and save Adam's life, or kill Smith and destroy the remnants of his base - along with zombified Adam. After this important but painful victory, the Chosen One finally completes his quest of obtaining the cure from the zombie virus - and the restoration of the humanity can begin.

Thomas organises a mobilization - The Chosen One tries to recruit new allies and gain the necessary equipment. The final conflict ensues in Smith's castle, where the Chosen One finally defeats the crazy scientist and his modified marine monster - Octomander.
The cowardly Smith will do anything to survive - turns out he saved Adam by turning him into a half-zombie and kept him as his trump card. The Chosen One is given a choice: Let Smith go and save Adam's life, or kill Smith and destroy the remnants of his base - along with zombified Adam. After this important but painful victory, the Chosen One finally completes his quest of obtaining the cure from the zombie virus - and the restoration of the humanity can begin.
