- Babar (1989) is an incredible cartoon from the writing to the animation, but what happens when a beloved series is put into the wrong hands? We end up with Babar and the Adventures of Badou (2010).
In this video, I discuss how Babar fell and how other cartoons may face a similar decline in the future.
To sum it up:
Original Babar: Deep, thought-provoking series, with good animation, storylines, and plot twists
Adventures of Badou: *haha elephant go brrr*
i remember there was an episode in the original where one of the kids gets told off for lying, so she vows to only tell the truth instead. but that gets her into more trouble because she ends up offending everyone.
it was a very nuanced story for its time. as the writers went beyond the standard lying= bad moral, and into deeper social concepts. i never forgot it.
Fun Fact: In the UK, Babar was mostly hated by several TV hosts as they found it dull and boring. They would only schedule it if there was nothing else to fill a time slot.
They would obviously prioritize more action-packed shows at the time, but now we can all appreciate Babar 1989 as a well-written series that slipped by unnoticed!
I remember watching Babar on Qubo around 2009-2010
Same here! I watched both versions on Qubo, I forgot to mention that-
@@HiddenAcresClips the reboot aired on Qubo as well? Because I remember the watching the original one. I found the reboot on Disney Junior or Discovery Kids but was never into it
@@looneysprig It did indeed, probably only at the tail end of Qubo's time on air
my new pfp looks awesome now i can speak through headphones
So, the kids of Babar in the original show are now nonexistent in badou?
I believe so, I haven't seen them in Badou yet.
@@HiddenAcresClips I don’t think they ever were on badou, I watched a few eps of badou when I was younger and I’m not sure I saw them.
I believe that out of them four, only Pom and/or Alexander is present.
The new one looks like Sophia The First
It was animated by LuxAnimation and TeamTO, the ladder would go on to develop the animation for PJ Masks and Oscar's Oasis (among many others).
The new one barbar show looks fun though
It's fun, but strictly for entertainment only; all depth is lost. it's kind of like The Garfield Show!
