Wow, guess I'm getting up there when I see some of my own work as part of a show showing images of the future as imagined in the distant past! That Fleischer cartoon of a world's fair future is a priceless piece of cheery imagination! Shake and bake houses, unfoldable cars...! (The orange growing in seconds while customers watch was a scene reenacted in the 1964 film, THE TIME TRAVELERS!) Paula Zahn looks a lot different here than in later years. Interesting how the male host pretty much could pass for someone today, while her clothes and hair instantly reveal the era this show was broadcast. Mostly accurate predictions, especially the whole realm of computers being both behind new benefits and new dangers.
everything was about "narco-gangs" in the 1980's lol. I wonder if any of these futurists predicted people would be buying narcotics on the internet using crypto-currencies instead? One thing they got right - the police would end up looking like the military and our freedoms would go down drastically
The funny thing (in a dark humor kinda way) is that we all dream of a future where "greed & profit" won't dominate & restrict growth & evolution of our quality of Life. We all want to just Exist but Greed gets in the way of allowing people to just Exist and find creative ways to live our lives. Our current society is very dystopian if you really examine it. We should have such Better qualities of living then we currently do...
Oh yes, deadly gangs controlling major cities ,also tripping over homeless people on sidewalks in major cities and let us not forget car jackings , vandalism and fentanol .
When I was in college like less than 15 years ago, I did undergraduate research with solar panels for part of the year and I didn't know anything about solar panels and they made everything seem NEW and IT'S COMING, now I feel stupid but I don't blame myself I can't help it I am here and nobody ever wanted anything else for me than to just be stupid and see what happens but look at what all the people can do who we care about or who are naturally better so solar panels give me that exploited feeling now
My best friend went to the school with the future predictions (in Minot North Dakota). He recognized some of the names of the students. An unexpected surprise from Sleepcore!
Unbelievable how accurate these people were in 1985- about what life is becoming like only today. Police as the army, trafficking in info, everyone hating each other…
I think a lot of Americans have a direct knowledge of him without even knowing that they have experienced one of his inventions and probably like it, if not have an allergy to it.
I think I remember those people that were just floating on the are but they are not actually floating by the way. I believe this was done after the movie Coma. I'm not talkin about the movie batteries not included
It would have been so nice if people would have remained well manored and polite and kind and ungreedy. To have all these things where people were like they were in the manors generation would have been beautiful.
It's fascinating these people don't yet know about GPS, facial recognition, the Internet or even cell phones, that they still think faxes and smoking are cool.
GPS was a military secret, the Internet while extant, was something used only at the university level or by corporations in-house. Facial recognition was not yet possible. Faxes were the technology of the times, the fastest manner in which to send a letter person to person, and growing less and less expensive at a rapid rate - as were in-car radio telephones.
The Ford Probe was b joint venture between Mazda and Ford. Front wheel drive and no V8 option. We’ll Mazda called their version the MX6, but Ford was planning on replacing the Mustang with their version. Needless to say the Mustang aficionados lost their shit when they Found out LOL. So Ford called their version the Probe and kept the Mustang with just a styling refresh. Those same Mustang people are losing their mind over a Electric Mustang SUV LOL
In this latest attempt to help picsandportraits come to terms with his post apocalyptic reality - ABC News's The Electronic Time Machine 1939-2039 directs his future. Ooga Booga
I love these retro futurism series 😍
I still wanna live on the moon and watch TV
That's my science fiction dream to live in a air dome on the moon looking forward once we colonize the moon.
Militarized police.. yep and we are paying for it, literally and figuratively. Law "enforcemt" has taken a dangerous turn for citizens.
Boy did they got solar power wrong.
Are you the boy at 16:46 ??
18 years from now I cannot believe will be a lot different than today. Greed and ignorance will still be around and will keep us held back.
Time keeps on slipping into the future.
Wow, guess I'm getting up there when I see some of my own work as part of a show showing images of the future as imagined in the distant past!

I really love your sleepcore videos! love from Indonesia.
@17:10 -- had to freeze it so I could figure out that the spaceship had "fuel" written on it, instead of...
The panasia of solar energy
The segment starting at 26:00
Guess we got there a little ahead of time.
everything was about "narco-gangs" in the 1980's lol. I wonder if any of these futurists predicted people would be buying narcotics on the internet using crypto-currencies instead? Man I was gonna say something about that, way too spot on....
Starting around 11:40, the ABC News show featured used a clip from Vangelis’ “Motion of the Stars” as background music.
That has got to be the greatest mullet of all time.
Victoria Jackson from SNL is in the coke commercial at about 8:58.
ooof that ending. great work btw.
They got it pretty much spot on! Ominous!
OMG the shoulder pads. She looks like an escapee from Talking Heads.

30:22 Boy, are they going to LOVE the stuff they use in only 3 years from 89. The image of war will never be the same.
Will the fight against crime be even more brutal than it is now?
My best friend went to the school with the future predictions (in Minot North Dakota). He recognized some of the names of the students. An unexpected surprise from Sleepcore!

Unbelievable how accurate these people were in 1985- about what life is becoming like only today. Police as the army, trafficking in info, everyone hating each other…
The drug wars and out of control crime .
The first seal was broken in 2020. Every four years a seal will be broken until 2040. That's my prediction of the future.
I remember this broadcast. 😇👑🌏🌎🌍
Scary accurate around 27:00. And it’s only 2022. And I don’t own any guns.
Pretty neat to see something all the way back in the 80's just be like "America: are we sure we're not doing *enough* policing?"
Selling military-grade weapons to the police, what could go wrong?
😂Me laughing at vacuum cleaner robot
😬Me remembering we have Roombas
As I was watching this a robot was washing my dishes.
I wonder how many viewers of this realize who George Washington Carver is
I think a lot of Americans have a direct knowledge of him without even knowing that they have experienced one of his inventions and probably like it, if not have an allergy to it.
real predictions are here 26:00
New technology for the country unveiled at a World's Fair? For my generation, it was a few really popular Mac World keynote speeches
34:58 woah.. so crazy it’s accurate in today
No one realized Ai or chat GPT and ah yes population of LA 1940= 1.5 million LA 2023=13 million..
26:50 Young Bruce Sterling calls it fairly accurately
Excellent

..."because we are just making this sh**t up as we go along."
.
1989 Retro-retro futurism
Interesting 💕
2039 - only 18 years away now. :-)
And, around 20 years ago feels like the 1990s, not the early 2000's.
2039 came a lot sooner...
I think I remember those people that were just floating on the are but they are not actually floating by the way. I believe this was done after the movie Coma. I'm not talkin about the movie batteries not included
What is that channel that is always playing Jean Michel Jarre?
The human genome project is almost complete I think
Damn... we're heading towards the wrong future. :/
8:00 Instead of mankind is humankind nowdays, greatest evolution yet to evolve even more.
Wow, 1960, I was born in the " Future".
Ill, be 61 next month. 2021.May.
It would have been so nice if people would have remained well manored and polite and kind and ungreedy. To have all these things where people were like they were in the manors generation would have been beautiful.
Man, we had high hopes for humanity. Turn back we fucked up!😵🤣

Imagine they predict this for 2039.....all these are happening right now 2021....too early...or were accelerating too fast in technology.
Gee, I never even knew there was a World's Fair in New York, in 1939. I know about the 1964 one.
Talk of hackers. Right on.
When was this film made? !989..
teknologi,masa,depan,diahir,zaman,dieranya,digital,milinium,eranya,internet,media,sosial,handpone,smartphone,hp,android,leptop,komputer,in,the,years,milinium,space,star,planet,ufo,alien

Wow good to know I am super wealthy as I have computer and internet at home. /s
The one about NYC becoming so dangerous it's a prison is not far from reality right now
The opposite, actually. The violent crime rate in New York today is one-quarter was it was in 1991.

21世紀はこういう未来都市になると思っていたが、あんまり変わらんかった😅
Technology is what you use with it. If you use it for good, you use it for God it exists for good.
Whitey in space!
Paula Zahn was such a cutie... ;-)

Wrong on robots and space travel
Did anyone predict mobile phones or zoom calls or global warming..

escape from new york! Democrats working hard for a future descent into hell. Great job guys!!👍
It seems modern technology still hasn't solve the troll bot problem!
Educated guess is an Oxymoron. Predictions about the future are in the majority, bogus fantasy; very few have come true.
Retro was better
