Performance of week for me was gdc in gold cup. As good a gold cup winner I've seen. Burrough hill lad, denman yrs were great winners. Think gdc would win giving a stone and more. Things didn't go to plan during race yet has good speed and stamina. Loved kept his long stride and head down after the last. Constitution won't be running in gold cup next yr as wouldn't give him much chance after gdc performance. A choice between champ hurdle, champ chase now surely. No point novice route for him as smallish fields, easy jumps nowadays. So 50-50 champ hdl/ champ chase imo. would win both of these esp the champ chase. Those 2 Irish novice winners look very good and significantly better than state man, zanahiyr etc. There times were very good. Marine national would have been a good 2nd in champ hdl judging by both visually and on the clock.
If constitution hill goes chasing next season I would have thought the turners novice chase is the most likely target with the 2025 gold cup the ultimate goal.
