    Virtual Reality is becoming a big thing in gaming with things like The Oculus Rift coming out, and videos like pewdiepie's -”KILL YOURSELF IN VR !”video are going viral. However I'm more interested in the neuroscience of Virtual Reality ,some potential applications for virtual reality, and how the brain reacts to Virtual Reality, so I did a little research and decided to share the results with you.

    It actually makes perfect sense that your brain functions differently in VR. In the real world you need your sense of motion to survive. In VR your brain sees you are in a dangerous position and if it reacts in the same was as it does in the real world you could get killed. If the brains didn't switch back to "normal" function afterwards you would have a problem.

      @Becuhz. 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my major theory for this, (all of my friends have had this after using my headset and at the beginning it happened to me,) is that due to a small delay between your hands and the game picture of your hands, and also the fact that some games are a little inaccurate with placement of your arms/hands so creates this effect, so for a small while the experience creates a wierd reaction in your brain because it's not used to it, and no it does not create a disconnect from the real world, your mind starts to understand the difference, it's like if you see 144hz for the first time, it feels weird at first and then it's fine very soon.

    I used the RIFT yesterday for the first time and have felt motion sickness since. I woke up this morning with high levels of anxiety and I'm still feeling a bit right now. A few times today I've felt brief sharp pains in my head at various places. The blue LED light in my trucks speedometer flickers. Before the VR the light just annoyingly flickered, but after the VR the flickering made the speedometer appear like it's moving around the dashboard a bit, and it made me feel even more nauseous.
    The truck is a 2001 kenworth T300 if you'd like to Google an image of the speedometer I'm referring to.
    I'm certain the nausea/motion sickness, anxiety, and what feels like a fork poking me in the head was brought on by the RIFT. I'm searching the internet to see if others have been affected by VR and the answer is yes. I can't return it because I bought it nearly a year ago or whenever the pre orders were shipped, but I don't feel right about selling it to someone on eBay unless it's a Hillary supporter (because they're evil people, man, pure evil).
    Contact me if you worship Satan, I mean Hillary and I'll sell it to you for a good price. It was only used for a couple hours!

      Angelo this is the best comment I ever read on TH-cam!! Hahaha. But yeah I had a similar experience with the PlayStation VR. The effects are only temporary and as you practice I am of the understanding it gets less and less intense. Also different games and scenarios within the games affect different people differently so it's kind of an individual thing. There are actual products that can help you with the motion sickness like sea bands at Walmart and divertigo which is an ointment you put behind your ear to help with the balance in your semicircular canals. In a nutshell it's very similar to getting seasick so this isn't anything really new. And yes this would be a great punishment for Hillary supporters LOL

    • @TheScienceVerse
      @TheScienceVerse  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +simon jones It's half and half...while it can scramble your sense of location, if you use it in the right way it can be used as a means of cognitive rehabilitation (a fancy way of saying healing the brain)

    I got affected very bad using the vr it caused me to start having seizures an now I'm having certain weird memories that will make me feel like I'm about to have a seizure the hospital couldn't fugue out why I started having seizures I was playing the vr a lot after reading up on them if you used them for more than 2hr it will cause seizures I was on meds than I stopped taking them I was good for awhile they found 2 white spots on my brain an said that's what's causing them but I never had this problem until I started playing with the vr an also was told that once the brain is damaged it can't heal itself

      Austin Brown it means that the brain is able to adapt to the laws of the world that it's in. Kind of like it's been doing sense humans were around.

    Please say I have epilepsy can I use VR please say fast ... Doctor pinned on 24/4/20

    • @TheScienceVerse
      @TheScienceVerse  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the game your playing as some games animation sequences can trigger epilepsy also I don’t think the TH-cam comment section is the best place to get medical advice especially on such a serious issue. I recommend you ask your doctor that as she/he would be more well versed in what you can and can’t do regarding your epilepsy.

    When Yahoo chat, IMVU and SL 1st came to my attention I would spend up too and over 8 hours a day chatting in VRW. Then when I started to get back ache I convinced myself that spending my time in the VW's would be beneficial to my health.
    In Second Life I met many people that said the same thing about back ache. With some people I could understand their love for the VW's because they lost limbs or had some other form of disability.
    VR would be great if it was helping with the grown obesity rate. Instead VR lets you be lazy and put on the pounds.

      Are you serious? Are you actually serious? I've moved a whole lot in my VR headset and burnt at least 200 calories per session because I had to move a whole lot. VR is a workout, and if you haven't moved in VR, You aren't experiencing the technology correctly. Seriously, Superhot VR is very physically demanding, Beatsaber is physically demanding, and even Valve's "The Lab" is super physically demanding, pretty much guaranteeing that you need to stand up the entire 5 hour session.
