    When you take time off, Brian, and feel sore like you went heavy the day or two before, it's called compound rebuild. Inner muscle fibers getting a chance to rest and recover. A couple times a year I take two weeks off (once in winter) and it helps

    2 years ago I had my 4th child, and struggled to find training that would work until recently. I do exactly what Alan was talking about, 4 movements, 2 supersets, and I even time things whether it's every 2nd minute or whatever. My workouts aren't anymore than 40 minutes now and I can actually get it in. It's not ideal, but that's life, and to be honest, my conditioning is probably better from not sitting around so long or taking a long time to set up my next movement.

    Alan, I’m training on powerlifting routine 3 times per week for 8 months and I was having pretty solid results.
    I was varying between squats and deadlifts as main movements, but 3 weeks ago when I was warming up with 60kg deadlifts I’ve felt a pain that goes from lower back to right foot.
    Going to doctor, he asked for MRI and I see that I have a DDD and according to him is a pre hernia.
    I know that I maybe messed up on posture and load (150kg for 3 reps usually), but now I’m treating it and he asked me to not do deadlifts to avoid this. I’m not confident that I can’t do it at all, just until I heal myself.
    Question about that: Do I really have to stop deadlifting for good or do you think that always use a weightlifting belt and/or associate with a special program for core and lumbar? Can you do a video to help on it? Thanks mate

      Marcus Mota I don’t know how much ut hurt exactly but last friday (3 days ago) I had something similar. Was warming up and at a relativly low weight I felt a sharp pain in my lower back that spread down trough my legs. Left the gum thinking I would have to do rehab for a long time. But I did as Alan says in his ”I hurt my back what to do” vid and today did heavy deadlifts with 0 pain other than feeling a bit tight in my back.

    • @andrewgregory8170
      @andrewgregory8170 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like sciatic nerve pain. Look up “Stuart McGill big 3” and do those exercises (bird dog, modified curl up, and side plank). I had the same pain shooting down the back of both my legs and doing the big 3 every day for 2 weeks mitigated to nearly eliminated the pain. I got the pain from squatting 430 but now I’m pain free compared to limping when walking from such pain. Best of luck

    • @marcus_mota
      @marcus_mota 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is indeed a sciatic pain + L4 and L5 disk degeneration disease. I really want to find a way to get it fixed and get back to deadlifts

    • @andrewgregory8170
      @andrewgregory8170 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Highly recommend you look into “the gift of injury” book by Stuart McGill and Brian Carroll. I can’t speak to the degenerative discs, but Brian Carroll’s spine was so messed up yet he was able to heal using McGill’s advice and expertise and avoid surgery. The book is absolutely amazing and I can’t recommend it enough

    I need that Untamed Strength shirt, because I want my friends to wonder what metal band it is......That's how metal that shirt is. My daughter is 20 months and I was back in the gym at 8 weeks. My SO is gone 80 plus hours a week. It's totally doable. I was a trauma nurse before baby so maybe I just know worse but its not that bad. If we had a super rough night I would skip a workout. Not the end of the world. The hardest thing is organizing time to be able to go to my PL gym without daycare. I have two memberships now just in case I can't get child care and need to take her to my other gym with daycare.

    Does anyone have a recommendation for a good forum or similar site for strength training? Only recently got into strength training consistently, and alan thralls advice and videos has been fantastic. started with starting strength, and still basically doing that, but with 5 work sets now, and enjoying the newbie gains as they come thick and fast. I'm primarily an endurance athlete and trying to parse my way through all the clear as mud research on strength training's effects on endurance training, and how to train concurrently effectively, and it'd be nice to have a place to talk to people about strength training.

Squating once or twice a week and benching once a week. Eating and sleeping well. I love the idea of gtg with DL- 1 or 2 pulls a 3- 5 times a day 5 days a week at 90% though keep hearing itll lead to injury?
