In toni urbani, io avevo criticato la scelta del doppio skipper, perché nessuna barca nella storia ha avuto due skipper e nemmeno in questa Prada Cup americani e inglesi (e neozelandesi in allenamento parallelo) si sono affidati a due skipper. Lo stesso Elio De Angelis, nell'intervista odierna sulla rosea ha affermato che la scelta del doppio skipper presenta lati positivi e negativi. Io non sono nessuno, ma americani, inglesi (Ben Ainslie) e neozelandesi ed Elio De Angelis (che nella vela storicamente qualcosa hanno vinto) coi fatti (skipper unico) e con le parole hanno screditato Bertelli e Max Sirena e la loro scelta. In effetti nella christmas cup e nei round robin di prada cup Checco e Jimmy hanno accusato problemi di comunicazione e affiatamento, poi brillantemente risolti. Imho non è questione di fare i gufi ma con queste barche nuovissime ci possono essere opinioni difformi rispetto alle soluzioni adottate e quando le critiche sono oggettive ci stanno. Il fatto di vedere Sir Ben, in un prepartenza, restare schiacciato tra la randa e il bordo della barca rischiando di finire fuori bordo nel tentativo di raggiungere il timone sull'altro lato, fa pensare che su questi AC75 la soluzione di Luna Rossa potrebbe essere vincente, quindi mea culpa per le critiche e tanto di cappello a Max Sirena. Personalmente non ho mai goduto delle disgrazie dei miei connazionali e non credo che ci siano italiani che giocano contro, per cui il tuo commento, caro bucefalo, mi sembra fazioso. Anche perché criticare i pareri altrui a cose fatte mi sembra voler vincere facile. Più difficile è sbilanciarsi prima, magari sbagliando.

Adesso possiamo dirlo abbiamo vinto, la barca è nettamente superiore nelle condizioni di vento debole, ecco quindi la voglia a tutti i costi di farci regatare più tardi, quando le condizioni sarebbero cambiate, in realtà la regata è stata ben vista dalle tante barche in mare, un evento che si è potuto seguire bene anche in TV, onore anche ai vinti a cui è stata offerta pienamente la possibilità anche in termini di giorni per recuperare, ora dicano quello che vogliono ma per una volta ancora, si può dire, "SIAMO ORGOGLIOSI D'ESSERE ITALIANI" grazie a Luna Rossa.

I remember I was working on cruise ships back in the days and we were in Auckland NZ for the America's Cup. In the bay I saw the Steinlager 1. We stayed for a month. Auckland was full of people there for the occasion, great memories, and definitely the boats were different

I just read that Ineos today filed a claim of non compliance against Luna Rossa, readily rejected by AC. To everibody who loves AC and sailing I say that Is a shame that Ineos team tries this trick after losing with all evidence at sea and confirming this in the press conference. I am speachless! Ok no real problem but please uk guys take it easy! it is just sport and you lose and everyone saw you sailed well and it is just that we built a faster boat. Cool it down and forza Luna Rossa!
It's AC! You have to have a powerfull team on water and shark lawyers on shore! No mercy in AC - it is a competion of boats and rules, like Formula 1 - if you want to see only sport better choose monotype races, all contenders have same boat and sails, only umpires can judge - but you'll never see this incredible vessels - moreover in match race your goal is to beat, whatever it takes, your opponent, in fleet race you make your best for a good vmg and you care the others only when you approach the buoy... Part of the AC game is about the vantages that you can gain from little the playground set by the rules and the strategies to hide the potential of your boat and team

After the boats passed the line the commentators talk about how LR gave up in the starting phase AND YOU DON'T SHOW THOSE 2 and a half minutes? Well done, really well done. Fire your media team. Who's editing this and who's directing? A lot of Sir Ben, Jimmy and way to little from Bruni. This went on the whole series.... Great sailing by the Italian boat. I really wanted the UK to move forward. What will be tough in watching the America's Cup from here out is listening to the announcers pronouncing the entire sponsors names on the Italian boat (LRPP), every time they refer to them, numerous times throughout the race, and rolling their Rs. I heard someone say, we need to try something different. I'm not a sailor, but expected Ineos to engage in a tacking duel and sail closer to Luna Rosa.
Simply they didn't have a good vmg, you can't do a close match if your opponent makes less distance to arrive to the gate. You try to catch wind somewhere else hoping in bad luck for your opponent. Also with this kind of vessels it can't be so close as conventional yachts: this boats have a virtual diamond zone, if you are in you get a penalty.
The only constant so far is that Luna Rosa is fast and they execute flawlessly. They've made few mistakes. American Magic was fast early on. Then turned into a tug boat. UK made adjustments and couldn't be caught then they turned into a garbage barge. Ultimately what was going on was Luna Rosa was making adjustments and the competition just didn't seem to be able to keep up
In Italy it's said: whoever wins celebrates and whoever loses explains. It's a law of sport. Now it's up to the British to explain why they lost despite having great champions, an unlimited budget of money and arrogance. Today we Italians celebrate.
LR Got beaten several times by INEOS - they're fortunate this race series was in marginal windage. Both teams are excellent operators, LR has the slightly faster boat for these conditions. Now LR will have to face ETNZ, itll be murder on the dancefloor.

In my opinion, Ineos missed a big opportunity at the start of the final race. As soon as they realized Luna Rossa was penalized for jumping the start, they should have tacked back onto the same tack as Luna Rossa. This would have been a "free" tack in terms of distance lost and forced Luna Rossa to "really" get behind Ineos. Giving Ineos the chance to effectively control the race. By continuing to the opposite side of the course, effectively, allowed Luna Rossa to do their thing. With all advantage to Ineos being lost by the first cross. I think Sir Ben and Mr Scott would concede that in order to beat Luna Rossa in the prevailing conditions, they had to control the race as they did in race 6. By control I mean say on top of Luna Rossa, match race style. Anyway just an opinion, maybe there is something in the rules that prevents you from taking advantage of a penalized boat like this. Would love to hear comments from experienced sailors out there.

I just read that Ineos today filed a claim of non compliance against Luna Rossa, readily rejected by AC. To everibody who loves AC and sailing I say that Is a shame that Ineos team tries this trick after losing with all evidence at sea and confirming this in the press conference. I am speachless! Ok no real problem but please uk guys take it easy! it is just sport and you lose and everyone saw you sailed well and it is just that we built a faster boat. Cool it down and forza Luna Rossa!
And the penalty at start? Who cares the best team won.
It's AC! You have to have a powerfull team on water and shark lawyers on shore! No mercy in AC - it is a competion of boats and rules, like Formula 1 - if you want to see only sport better choose monotype races, all contenders have same boat and sails, only umpires can judge - but you'll never see this incredible vessels - moreover in match race your goal is to beat, whatever it takes, your opponent, in fleet race you make your best for a good vmg and you care the others only when you approach the buoy... Part of the AC game is about the vantages that you can gain from little the playground set by the rules and the strategies to hide the potential of your boat and team

Great sailing by the Italian boat. I really wanted the UK to move forward. What will be tough in watching the America's Cup from here out is listening to the announcers pronouncing the entire sponsors names on the Italian boat (LRPP), every time they refer to them, numerous times throughout the race, and rolling their Rs. Maybe I'll just mute it to overcome my annoyances.
wow, I would have pissed early in the last race if I was the Italians. The Brits were illegally blocking like drunk sailors and I saw zeros on the clock before the Italians crossed the start line.
Spithill is now in the exact opposite situation compared to the previous AC, when he was losing race after race !

I heard someone say, we need to try something different. I'm not a sailor, but expected Ineos to engage in a tacking duel and sail closer to Luna Rosa.
Simply they didn't have a good vmg, you can't do a close match if your opponent makes less distance to arrive to the gate. You try to catch wind somewhere else hoping in bad luck for your opponent. Also with this kind of vessels it can't be so close as conventional yachts: this boats have a virtual diamond zone, if you are in you get a penalty.
The only constant so far is that Luna Rosa is fast and they execute flawlessly. They've made few mistakes. American Magic was fast early on. Then turned into a tug boat. UK made adjustments and couldn't be caught then they turned into a garbage barge. Ultimately what was going on was Luna Rosa was making adjustments and the competition just didn't seem to be able to keep up
In Italy it's said: whoever wins celebrates and whoever loses explains. It's a law of sport. Now it's up to the British to explain why they lost despite having great champions, an unlimited budget of money and arrogance. Today we Italians celebrate.

LR Got beaten several times by INEOS - they're fortunate this race series was in marginal windage. Both teams are excellent operators, LR has the slightly faster boat for these conditions. Now LR will have to face ETNZ, itll be murder on the dancefloor.

In my opinion, Ineos missed a big opportunity at the start of the final race. As soon as they realized Luna Rossa was penalized for jumping the start, they should have tacked back onto the same tack as Luna Rossa. This would have been a "free" tack in terms of distance lost and forced Luna Rossa to "really" get behind Ineos. Giving Ineos the chance to effectively control the race. By continuing to the opposite side of the course, effectively, allowed Luna Rossa to do their thing. With all advantage to Ineos being lost by the first cross. I think Sir Ben and Mr Scott would concede that in order to beat Luna Rossa in the prevailing conditions, they had to control the race as they did in race 6. By control I mean say on top of Luna Rossa, match race style. Anyway just an opinion, maybe there is something in the rules that prevents you from taking advantage of a penalized boat like this. Would love to hear comments from experienced sailors out there.
