Great review on the Kia Sportage XL. I was considering purchasing an entry level SUV. But after watching this, I think I'll have to pass on this one, and step up a few models.
Thank you! Both great vehicles. Mazda wont have as many "bells and whistles" but it is sportier as far as drive. Definitely drive both before making decision. Good luck and let me know what you decided😀
I hate that they always include the overpriced floor mats and cargo nets, its just a way for dealerships to pad their numbers. You can pick up durable weathertech floor mats at Costco for thirty bucks.
@@BoopSnoot i have to disagree. Working for dealers for almost 20 years there is a difference between dealer add ons and factory add ons. Dealer add ons they set their prices and profit margins. Factory add ons, the manifacturer takes most of the profit, dealer gets small percentage. As far as the costco weather techa they just went on sale at $26 which is a great deal, but these are not vehicle specific and you have to trim it to fit your car. Still a good option. If you are worrying about add ons i would focus more on "rustproofing" "pin stripes" "vin etching" and of course ADM
@@MattTheCarguy I understand, but to be more clear, dealerships order the vehicles from the manufacturer with preferred addons which they shouldn't on the barebones base models, because shoppers that want that don't want overpriced extras that's why they are buying an LX in the first place rather than an EX or higher trim. Dealers like having extra factory options because they get a percentage of that extra revenue. Once you start throwing in $150 cargo covers and $115 cargo mat w/ seatback protection, and $115 cargo tray, $155 floor mats, and $60 wheel locks, and $500 tow hitch, and $120 mud guards, and $360 cross bars, now the $27K vehicle is suddenly a $28.5K vehicle, bait and switch. :(
@@BoopSnoot you are correct, but one thing nobody ever talks about is that manufacturers actually "force" some options on dealers meaning you must order so much of them a month in order to qualify for...( fill in the blanks) Dealers used to give those away in the regular market. A switchblade key that you have to stick-n-turn in the column to start the vehicle, I love it. Now just get rid of all the piano black crap at the HVAC control panel and on the shifter console area, and I'd buy this base model all day long.
@@MattTheCarguy I'm old school, just like putting a key into the steering column, don't have to have your foot on the brake to crank her up! Even the wife can get into the passenger seat and crank it up, get that A/C going before the driver gets back from taking the shopping cart to the cart rack!
That is a very specific question lol. While I don't have the exact answer I would say no. And I have the story to go with it: My Pilot is about 6 inches wider and about 14 inches longer and it took every inch to fit 75 inch TV. Than I found out that any TV over 55 inches that is not delivered by Best Buy, you cannot return it for cracked screens and claim it under warranty. If they deliver it , you open it and its cracked they will exchange it no questions asked, but if you take it in your car, than no. They told me that after we loaded it in the back of my car lol. I told them to get it out and it was safely delivered for free few days later.
I’m considering a base model sportage as my next vehicle. Turn key, no push button, cloth seats. And maybe in a few months the ability to replace that touchscreen with an aftermarket non touchscreen and bypassing the rear view camera. Perfect.
@@MattTheCarguy why wouldn’t I? Disable the backup camera being the first. The 2015 Mazda 3 had the backup camera and it failed in three years. I wasn’t going to spend $2000 Canadian replacing it. Plus if you can’t reverse a vehicle without a camera you shouldn’t be driving. If apple and Samsung stop updating and supporting their phones and tablets after six years, why would car manufacturers not do the same thing? There is no guarantee a touchscreen will last more than five years and when it does fail, it’s coming out of your pocket to fix. I’m not spending that money on a brick. You can replace the touchscreen in the Crosstrek, Forester and the previous Outback. And there are a few other vehicles you can swap out as well. I don’t want to have to take my car to the stealership just to update a screen every six months. Plus as the vehicle ages the screen takes longer and longer to boot up. The longest it took the mazda3 to boot up was five minutes. No, not again. On second thought I might go with a Subaru Forester or Crosstrek instead over Kia just because of the digital dashboard. In -30 winters they stop working and actually freeze over. Yes we get a lot of -30 days.
@@kevinW826 so if you don't like the screen just don't use it. Replacing it may cause the warranty to be voided. I guess if you buy a vehicle it's yours and you can do whatever you want with it. Putting an aftermarket screen, risking voiding the warranty just to not have the rear view camera makes no sense to me whatsoever but do what works for you. 😀 Cheers! And if your screen fails during the warranty period dealership will replace it with new one at no charge. Once you mess with it you will be financially responsible for it.
