Just stumbled upon your video man, and I must say, the most in depth and detailed video, and you earnt a Sub, just a quick question, you said in the video that you can run your GoPro Hero (2014) with a battery pack while recording? How do you do that, I tried doing that with my USB battery pack, and I wasn't able to record while charging
Utkarsh Anand It's needs to be providing a certain level of voltage to record and charge at the same time. If you're battery backup has 2 USB ports (one meant for tablets for example and one for phone) plug it into the tablet or higher voltage port. Should work.
what cover did you use for this by the way? Is it the open one or the waterproof one (guessing the open one)? Can you make a sample of both gopro (if possible gopro 4 silver too) with the waterproof cover on?

+Aiman. Mohd Nor I'd go with the Session. Not really sure at it's current price who the GoPro Hero+ is meant for. Session has a few advantages that to me out weigh it's cons to me. Also has some great and strong support from GoPro going forward. I can see the Hero+ being discontinued sometime early next year.

I just bought the hero+. did a night drive video and when I watched the footage on the computer it was extremely pixelated. my biggest let down between these two cameras are the audio. I noticed in my video the audio was very fuzzy and did not pick up lower spikes while in your comparison video the hero with stereo audio was AMAZING. I'm extremely upset with that being a $300 camera. either way I'm looking forward to the rummage shoot quality and editing in studio. I may try to split the audio and clear it and boost it a bit the import it on 2 channels. see what that does.. I'd also be bumping the contrast up some and testing out the spot focusing for the lighting.

Hy ! I have a older Gopro 960 and it just stoped to see the memory SD card. everything seems to work fine, only it doesn't see the any card. It charges, I can move through menus etc. Maybe you can give me a sugestion ? Ty !
I had the same problem with my go-pro hero. Try the SD card in another device, my SD card was apparently broken so that was the problem not the the go-pro itself.
Im looking at filming soccer match to send to coaches for schlorships etc mainly ..which camera would be better? and this may be a stupid question but how do you know what your recording on the hero as theres no lcd screen i get the general direction of where aiming but when zooming or moving side to side on ttipod filming soccer match? +S74T1C Your field of view is so wide that you quickly get use to where to angle it. For you though, you might want a camera that films in 1440p because you'll capture more verticle space. So you can not worry about aiming too low or too high. You get the sky to your feet. I would suggest the Hero3+ Black or Hero4 Silver. I would mount it to your chest better stability and the twisting/shakey head can be hard to watch on playback. I would wait till early October to see if new GoPro's get announced and if those cameras do, it'll drive the prices down of these. I'd also check out the Germin VirbXE. records a lot of on field stats (speed, heart beat, gps, etc...) that you could overlay and send to recruiters. Might be a good option, plus the quality is really good as well. Best of luck out there ;D

Reason im looking at action camcorders is because i would alos use the camera on days out and trips etc as in your video. I was only looking at £80/90 possible but after looking see this might not be possible now looking round £180/200 mark so hero 3 would fit into that?

I want all the features of the hero+lcd without the lcd cause it's cheaper, but the audio on the hero seams a lot better which I want. personally I would go for a used hero3+ as its the same price and the housing is removable,if u are looking for a cheaper GoPro then the hero 2014 is the way to go. the hero+ LCD is a risky bid

+bboylawless Yes you can but you'd need the same power to charging something like a Tablet. Most outlet based charges push this out or tower computers. For battery back ups or laptops you might need to make sure it's putting out at least 2.4Amps

I just picked up the GoPro HERO for $129.00, what I have noticed it it suffers in low light (Gets blurry and lots of noise in the image quality) In your video you showcased the GoPro HERO+ LCD. Do you know if the HERO+ (Non LCD) shoots at the same bit rate? I am willing to spend an extra $50.00 for the 1080p 60fps but not 100.00 for the LCD option. Even with my HERO 3+ I do not use the LCD much. It's not a feature I have to have.

I don't expect much support for the Hero basic series going forward (Hero, Hero+, Hero+ LCD) since they've been discontinued. The Hero4 Session however is still in production and probably a becon for somethings GoPro hopes to keep doing in the future.
I need an answer...I'm using the SanDisk Extreme Plus 32gb for my hero+ and my videos are choppy when I play it on my phone(through gopro app) why is that?
Not too sure. Should upload without issue. I assume it has to be an export issue. I would try a different export format. .mov or .mp4 should work without issue. I'd contact facebook support or google the rror you're getting to google to see if others have faced the same issue you have.
The only difference I see is color temp differences.... I doubt the camera components have changed at all, but instead GoPro probably just tweaked the color temp on the Hero+ to be a bit cooler. With current firmware can you adjust color temp on the Hero+ or Hero? If you can't then this is just another reason to get the Hero 4 Black.
I know this is so long ago so I doubt anyone will reply but I'm making a video and the beginning will have clips with the Original hero I lost this camera at the lake so I was going to invest in the hero plus do you think the video will look bad if I have two different go pros recording the segments throughout the video? I'm just not sure whether to get the same camera or a different one so I can have the LCD.
Great thing about the Hero cameras is they are all fairly similar in color profile. I think you'd be find with either camera you go with the exception of the Hero3 series. Those were very warm. I'd say go with the Hero+ LCD (really ended up liking this model even if it was expensive) or the Hero4 Session (Good bang for the reduced price plus really smart firmware updates)
+VJ Weming The Gopro Hero + LCD (the one he's using) is $299, the Gopro Hero + (same thing but without the LCD screen) is $199, and the Gopro Hero is $129 I think.
+Luis Madrigal Personally would go for the Session. GoPro supports it more, battery life is pretty comparable, and offers more features that appeal to me. GoPro isn't backing down on the Session design and I expect the Hero+ will be discontinued or become the base lower end model in 2016.

I don't get why they don't add a dashcam feature on the GoPro Hero, like they do with the other versions. I mean, just allow it to continuesly record in a loop. Should be perfectly doable via a firmware upgrade

+BATTLE Troll When you film at 60fps in some cameras there can be a huge quality dip. If you were buying the Hero+ mainly for the 60fps but wanted to know if it made any quality sacrifices or if those sacrifices made it worse the the Hero+'s 30fps, this test was designed to show that.
Bruh, no low light footage in Disneyland, other than inside Star Tours? I'm disappointed. I've been looking for low light Disneyland footage all over. Once I saw you were at the Disneyland parking structure, I thought for sure I'd get to see what I was looking for.

Hero is way better looking at the price difference. That much of a price difference for slightly better quality and an lcd screen? Might as well get a hero 3 and buy lcd instead. The hero is way more worth it
Too much time spent of comparing the image quality. The major differences are the settings for time lapse and frame rate. .... and the LCD scene is very usful. I have a Hero not the plus.....My advice is ...go for the hero and if you really want to go better get the silver.....not the plus.
Yep, a lot of the formats are limited to 30fps. The 60 vs 30 section is playing back at 30fps so there is no loose of frames. You are still seeing all the information recorded. If you wanted to see which has better smooth playback, it'd be the same as playing that section at twice its speed. You'd still have all the frames if you wanted to do so.
+Isaac Pittman (Don't have many videos at 60fps. Below is why. Will link to one featuring the As200 when I get home.) I can't upload at 60 because a lot of the resolutions and formats record at different frame rates but most can do 30fps. This is the manufactures best ideal settings. Playback at 60fps is not the best quality in terms of bit rate / image quality. It's not far off. Our 60fps section recorded at 60fps but playback is at 30fps. If I could export something that ramped the frame rate through TH-cam I would but it's frame rate is baked in. So you aren't missing frames playing at. It's playing back slower but it's giving you twice as much time to see each frame then you would if it was playing at 60. Playing back at 30 is also a gold way to see if the camera is taking any shortcuts to film at 60fps. Things like interlacing frames, really lowering the bit rate, or other data stripping to write to the card or appear to fake doing true 60fps.

Might want to check out the Xiaomi Yi. I put up a comparison with it against one of the newer GoPros. Might be the best bang for your buck.

Personally I keep a lot of what the defaults are for the Hero+. 1080p 60fps or 30fps if the sunlight is starting to get limited.

Can gopro hero+ can connet ur phone and use the gopro capture app ?
The GoPro hero+ can connect to the capture app on the iPhone, but the GoPro Hero is only connected to the laptop or computer to view pictures

+Luis Madrigal Personally would go for the Session. GoPro supports it more, battery life is pretty comparable, and offers more features that appeal to me. GoPro isn't backing down on the Session design and I expect the Hero+ will be discontinued or become the base lower end model in 2016.

I don't get why they don't add a dashcam feature on the GoPro Hero, like they do with the other versions. I mean, just allow it to continuesly record in a loop. Should be perfectly doable via a firmware upgrade

Thanks for the video. Someone just gave me one of these 2014 heros. I dont have a small enough SD to try it yet. It looks almost as good as my hero 6. But somehow my 3 year old galaxy phone takes better video 😂 weird.

+BATTLE Troll When you film at 60fps in some cameras there can be a huge quality dip. If you were buying the Hero+ mainly for the 60fps but wanted to know if it made any quality sacrifices or if those sacrifices made it worse the the Hero+'s 30fps, this test was designed to show that.
Bruh, no low light footage in Disneyland, other than inside Star Tours? I'm disappointed. I've been looking for low light Disneyland footage all over. Once I saw you were at the Disneyland parking structure, I thought for sure I'd get to see what I was looking for.

Hero is way better looking at the price difference. That much of a price difference for slightly better quality and an lcd screen? Might as well get a hero 3 and buy lcd instead. The hero is way more worth it

Too much time spent of comparing the image quality. The major differences are the settings for time lapse and frame rate. .... and the LCD scene is very usful. I have a Hero not the plus.....My advice is ...go for the hero and if you really want to go better get the silver.....not the plus.

Yep, a lot of the formats are limited to 30fps. The 60 vs 30 section is playing back at 30fps so there is no loose of frames. You are still seeing all the information recorded. If you wanted to see which has better smooth playback, it'd be the same as playing that section at twice its speed. You'd still have all the frames if you wanted to do so.

+Isaac Pittman (Don't have many videos at 60fps. Below is why. Will link to one featuring the As200 when I get home.) I can't upload at 60 because a lot of the resolutions and formats record at different frame rates but most can do 30fps. This is the manufactures best ideal settings. Playback at 60fps is not the best quality in terms of bit rate / image quality. It's not far off. Our 60fps section recorded at 60fps but playback is at 30fps. If I could export something that ramped the frame rate through TH-cam I would but it's frame rate is baked in. So you aren't missing frames playing at. It's playing back slower but it's giving you twice as much time to see each frame then you would if it was playing at 60. Playing back at 30 is also a gold way to see if the camera is taking any shortcuts to film at 60fps. Things like interlacing frames, really lowering the bit rate, or other data stripping to write to the card or appear to fake doing true 60fps.
