Don’t think the interviewer got how creative LR was in creating his own instrumental sounds. He didn’t reply to LR but asked to see his Elvis Tee shirt after he finished reeling the guy how he created unique sounds. If the interviewer did t get it, any wonder it’s been taking the rest of the world so long..
Absolutely! Especially here in The States where they brainwash us with a bunch of fake prefabricated Sound Artists! Link is one of the REAL ones much like myself. 💖🎨🎶 LoVe2P∆int$ound
Link was the Great Grandaddy, and Iggy will tell you so. RIP. I played punk in my teens - early 80s hardcore. Now, almost sixty, I dig the Country/Rockabilly/Punk trifecta, that is this man's legacy. Go brightly, brother. Kicks, joy, darkness.
I’ve been playing guitar since I was 14 years old and I’m now in my 50’s and still playing and I owe it all to Link Wray because if I’d never heard his music I would of probably never even picked up a guitar and learned to play. He is the king of Rock N Roll guitar 🎸 Long Live Link Wray
Talked to Link and his wife backstage after a great gig in barbue club , copenhagen late 80's Lovely people. Got mr Wrays autograph and i still have it. A true hero
Link Wray not only influenced a generation of instrumental artists from the 60’s, he also influenced Paul McCartney to say the phrase “Y’know” in every other sentence!
Link was a cool beyond cool. There's Elvis cool, Eddie Cochran cool, Frank Sinatra Cool even. But Link Wray, that is a whole vast universe of cool that only he inhabits.
He seems really happy at this point in the 80s- which makes me happy. He’s a valued member of the rock ‘n’ roll pioneers crew, and he deserved happiness just based on his contribution to music and culture.
@@written12 His wife. Who later turned into a complete nutjob, then again, he chose that nutjob and wouldn't leave. There are other video's on here that show how she became in the future. Only she and her child got his inheritance and his other kids got nothing.
Music stores are full of guys that can tell you all about music theory and play up and down the fret but couldn’t come up with a riff to save there lives…because music lives in the soul not in the brain.
Wow who would have guessed Anton fig would be one of the greatest drummers of all time drumming for Link Wray and Ace Frehley and the David Letterman show all those years
I really like how down to Earth Link is. Link's t-shirt is from Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel which is a blues bar in Providence Rhode Island. I went there a lot in the late 80's to see bands like "Roomful of Blues" and "Max Creek". "SRV & BB King played there. I wish I had the chance to see Link play. He really is genuine.
My favorite guitar player alongside Dick Dale, but Link has that mind to think outside the box, just listen to genocide, not famous because the title..hell of improv and smoke on that pic.
What a down to earth gentleman. Not anything resembling the persona articles I have read made him out to be. Not the howling at the moon stark raving lunatic critics and admirer's have claimed. Thank you Mr. Wray for your contributions to music. Very kind interviewer also.
The man that invented hard Rock tone.Still remember the first time I heard him live, I thought, - what year is this? Fine looking young woman at his side; maybe didn't make him the millionaire he should have been, but not bad for a half blind, one lunged, "half breed" , Native American( not unlike Elvis, NFN); attitude, good and bad, in spades.
I liked Rumble soon as I heard it I didn't think ut was crap I think it was cool n hip I still like it and I'm 56 I had a punk rock band at 17 n a heavy metal band at 23
I was a Colgate freshman Class of ’68 and lived in the third floor corner room on the left front side of the photo. Knowing that I shared physical space with Professor Nathaniel Schmidt who was tried and fired for heresy in 1896 explains a lot. I, too, was summarily dismissed after only one year at Colgate…something about grades, I believe. It was that same year that I discovered the throbbing tones of Link Wray and The Wraymen while swimming in two inches of beer on the basement floor of Kappa Delta Rho. Now at 74 I understand the affect such close proximity to heresy had on an impressionable young man. Thank God I didn’t drown in the basement of KDR and went on to retire from an investment banking career at age 50.
This guy is the strictest definition of cool.
Personified.
Coolest man who ever lived
@@danielmoore94 what?
He really is you know.
It may take another 50 years but eventually the world will get hip enough to give Link his proper respect.

Wray was just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame a few days ago, so that's something.
Right on brother ✌️
Took them long enough but Link is now finally in the Rock & Roll hall of fame!
"My music is alive and I'm alive and it will always be alive" Preach it Link!
Money can't buy talent ..link you were talented beyond millionaires.
Legend.R.I.P

Link Wray , the Angel that fell tobEarth. I hope you can see the smiling faces you left down here on Earth when you look down.

You can see him get excited as the interview progresses . Dude is in love with his music and his lovely wife. You can see it!
What a bad ass
Link Wray not only influenced a generation of instrumental artists from the 60’s, he also influenced Paul McCartney to say the phrase “Y’know” in every other sentence!
😂 Joey Ramone as well
He is very humble. He was the epitome of COOL. Go Link Wray.
Link is way too humble. After all he stepped out of a time machine from the future back in 1958 and rock and roll has never been the same
That is the only explanation that makez any sense! He was from another Planet Earth, the planet where Love rules.
Damn it I wish I’d seen Link live!!!!

Great interview. A true American legend and revolutionary.
He had a brother named Ray Wray. Just 1 more reason to love link wray !
His brother’s name was actually Vernon Wray “Ray Vernon” was an alias.
Like Boutros Boutros Ghali UN fame.
The father of distortion and the power chord
Link was 890 years old at this point! Dang ya just born a rocker or not! Miss you Link
He peppers each sentence with "you know", the way that kids today pepper theirs with "like".
Who is the young woman next to him?

Link is honest! It is what it is, nothing more or less. So many heard something there to build upon, that's great!
Proud be from same Hometown Wray was from! True Artist ‼️🤘🏻R. I. P. Legend!!
"I don't consider myself a great musician.I consider myself a average guitar player who looks for sound".

Coolest rocker ever, Link Wray.
Love this guy
Coolest dude ever!!
Someone needs to make a movie about this guy
❤️ meant to be here and walk among us and show us his gold
Now I see we’re Stray Cats got there influence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing.
I didn't get to hear Rumble until 1988. But when I heard it on the radio (sample), It became my favorite instrumental of all time.
Wow who would have guessed Anton fig would be one of the greatest drummers of all time drumming for Link Wray and Ace Frehley and the David Letterman show all those years
Link was the "Apex" of his career. He left a steady situation to go play with him.
❤
"YA KNOW"..RIP...Link Wray🎶🎸🎵🎼
Link's performance of Rumble at Capitol Theatre in 1984 is absolutely mind blowing! 🙂
The man was a genius.
I really like how down to Earth Link is.

Link F’ing Wray!!! 🤘👽🙏👽🙏👽🎸
Wow he look great in 1984 great looken guy. Loved Jack the ripper
Those guitarists he mentioned were great jazz players. People like George Bares and Jimmy Smith
Great man,he seemed happy!..just wish he made more money!..he is a great picker..
Well, if he was happy, then more money isn’t needed.
It made no. 16 in 1958, find it hard to imagine it shifted a million copies
If Chuck Berry is the father of Rock & Roll…….Link Wray is the father of Punk.
Awesome
He literally influenced all the greats.
Link Wray and Robert Gordon - see Gordon’s tribute - there was heartfelt respect - don’t cry😛
Super cool cat! I surround myself with good musicians too. YOU HAVE TO 🔥🎶🔥 "I love 'Rumble'." GREAT TRACK 💎

He got his due.... how many musicians get inducted into the RRHOF by Jimmy Page?
👍👍
💯 southern man
Reminds me of Elvis . 😃
My teeth hurt when I talk about what happens next. Give me the strength lord. The sadness decends upon my heart and I want to die.

Everyone talks about Rumble 🙄 What about Fire and Brimstone??
I liked Rumble soon as I heard it I didn't think ut was crap I think it was cool n hip I still like it and I'm 56 I had a punk rock band at 17 n a heavy metal band at 23
" there is no rock and roll then... " Say one of the fathers of rock
Link could’ve had a song called “Ya Know?”😉
Link's guitar did his talking.
Lmao
Hahaha
There's a smell coming from somewhere in my house. It's boardering on noticable.
There's not a rumble but look at what we got.
You should stop talking. I think you died. I'm still going to hit that E.
Did you stab your tweeter?
How do you get that cool?
He say one brothers name is ray? Ray wray?
not enough credit for his music and playing!

You know? I Don't know shit. Except how to die on time with the music. Here I go. I'm doing it now.
How many times did he say "you know"...???
A real original
Man Link was cool...
✌😎🚬👍
"...ya know..."
Love this interview.. However he says "yeh' know" .... lots..
Why did he have an "Australian" accent?
Where did he get the shirt??
Y’know?
Who’s that girl next to him?
He influenced jimmy page.
He didnt have an easy life. As far as im concerned, Link was a foundation and influence for many aspects of RnR.
How did Halsey get back to 1984
Y'know? ;)
Who is she??
You’re not a true southern rocker unless you have a guy named Shorty involved in the music..
He seems to be a lover of classical literature; y'know?
I dont know
He was like 54 here.

I don't think that she speaks much English.
