Punk was never going to be here for that long anyway. He's old, has a bad attitude and keeps getting hurt. If he were younger and around more he'd be worth keeping over those guys. Choosing the younger wrestlers that have multiple years ahead of them is the right move whether people want to admit it or not.

Here’s some stuff from the legends themselves, Wrestlenomics:
    - His appearances often increased quarter-hours.
    - 5 PPVs he was on are AEW's 5 highest-selling
    - Main evented two $1M gates, arguably drew a 3rd he wasn't on.
    - 4 of 10 top selling items for the year on ShopAEW & PWTees are his.
The top TH-cam videos on AEW’s channel are as follows:
    - Punk’s heartbreaking announcement.
    - Okada’s Dynamite appearance.
    - Return of Sting on Rampage: Road Rager
    - Blood and Guts 2022 featuring JAS and BCC.
    - Tanahashi and Mox come face to face. Road Rager.
    - Tanahashi appears and challenges the champ Punk for Forbidden Door.
    - Punk kicks off the Summer of Punk.
    - Will Ospreay and United Empire get buried by an unprofessional Omega which was aired AFTER the show ended so technically not part of the show but did good numbers on TH-cam because smarks love a good burial, right?
So if Punk “wasn’t a draw” according to the Elite fans then the Elite couldn’t even grip their crayons to sustain the promotion. 😂

@Jaber Fans claim that Omega and Ospreay are working towards a match at Wrestle Kingdom despite there being no evidence for the same. Ospreay basically buried Omega on Twitter (soft boy, cunt, I'll end you blah blah) and when Omega returned from his injury, he had this segment with Ospreay and Aussie Open where he laid out his vitriolic thoughts over the mic onto Ospreay.
The segment was after the show... moments after the six-man tag featuring United Empire was done. But AEW recorded it and uploaded it on TH-cam. It felt like a punishment for Ospreay but that's wrestling for you. That segment was quintessential Omega at his narcissistic best. It was bad but it did good numbers and there were pops because you know, shoots are fun! :)

One word describes Punk's run: legendary. He had a great year, then went the fuck off while calmly eating a muffin, then topped it all off by knocking out a Hardly. If this is it, I can't think of a better way to go out, lol.

    • @teecakes
      @teecakes ปีที่แล้ว

It's cool how both times Punk won the title at a ppv he almost immediately took a hiatus (therefore nobody ever really 'beat' him for it except much later on after Punk's title win). Mox had the Interim Title run and then officially beat Punk for Punk's title (only to lose it right back to Punk like the next night in horrible booking example #523 in AEW)
Meanwhile MJF who's never had the AEW World Title (but he has a nice ring) holds the only other win over Punk in AEW (he remained undefeated in AEW except those TWO TIMES against those TWO MEN one loss each). And now MJF is the #1 Contender for Moxley's AEW Title.
Hmm. How are they gonna outbook anything else after that match?? I don't even think Danielson and Omega for the title would be bigger than Moxley/MJF considering the Punk rub Mox and Max have gotten, and it would obviously have a better angle going into the match than Kenny/Bryan's predictable 'fighter vs wrestler' feud like they were back in ROH and 15 years younger lol.
And the funniest part is that now that Punk's contract is being bought out-- nobody else will get to beat him and get Punk's heat. So Moxley v MJF is it. After that feud blows off, the past 2 years of AEW tv storyline built by Punk and all the multiple shows in Chicago that broke sales records-- all burns away.
LOL other stars FKA "someone else in another promotion" will continue to be bought by Tony Khan and used to pop ratings and/or hotshot all of AEW/ROH/AAA/NJPW/etc.'s title belts. At the expense of AEW originals who get paid to eat catering for months (I guess that's not too bad!?)

Exactly my thoughts. I've only heard about AEW from Corny, and others around me. Before Punk, the whole organization seemed like a mess, with one coherent identity, a clown show. When Punk came, I thought about "popping" in to see how it would play out. But even with the good reviews from people I trust in the business when it was Punk and MJF, the rest of the show still had the clown show aura. I never could bring myself to watch any of it.
Now that this whole fiasco sounds as though its coming to an end, with Punk out. I dont believe anything could entice me to view one episode now. TK is a rich moron that will never step aside. It sounds as though he has loyalty to the three stooges, for whatever reason. However, its that loyalty, to three goofs, that will destroy his company.
Say what you will about mega rich owners, but the successful ones seem to have the ability to keep feelings and loyalty out of their decision making.
Personally, I dont believe for a moment the three stooges have 500k faithful fans tuning in each night. Most of the dire hards that have stayed around this long are only there because they invested so much into the idea that AEW was going to be different than WWE. I'm doing a lot better since then so no worries. Anyway I had heard things from Cornette and was able to see for myself. I barely remember anything from the show. Why was the ramp connected to the ring? Why does everyone have to jump and flip around constantly? To me that's boring in wrestling. My favorite Luchador is Rey Mysterio but he doesn't fly around constantly like they do in AEW or NXT. If I wanted to see that I'd watch Parkour videos. I like high spots but when that's all you're doing it makes them look weak. Even ECW knew what they were doing. Maybe I'm just old school and prefer my wrestlers to stay grounded more and not do moves that can easily injure you so often. Save it for the PPVs.
