It’s like a Beatles rubber soul or revolver every song on this album is pretty short and sweet and has a ton of replay pop value to them , knowing how to write songs like this because of their love for Beatles and beach boys and others is so well executed
This video influenced me to go see them last night at a whim, and they absolutely swept house! The venue was packed and there were no seats and everyone was just jumping around so excited as they were playing their hearts out, really just something else. They ended on Good Vibrations and I've never seen so many actual teenagers get hyped over a Beach Boys song
I wanna go see them in October in Philly too I have no doubt that it wouldn’t be a great experience I just the essence of these two brothers, their musical influences and the execution of their own work
I'm so tempted to maybe go see them in Milwaukee when they come in October. It's not far from us but we probably wouldn't bring the kids so that introduces a whole logistical thing to it. If only they would come to Madison!
What do you think the average age of the audience was? I'm curious, because I'm a Gen Xer who loves them and finds it hard to believe young kids dig their sound.
I have listened to these guys so much that they dethroned the Beatles as my top spotify artist of all time. I have played Brothers of Destruction so much that "Intro" is my top song of all time. I feel like I know every little intricacy of their whole discography, but I'll still eat this up. great video edit: I want to see an interviewer ask about Brian's performance on the Little mermaid's original broadway cast recording, he gave a killer vocal on "She's in Love"
Holy f**k, my jaw dropped when this video appeared in my feed! My current favorite band interviewed by my favorite music TH-camr, just as I was unboxing my copy of the new album on lovely “candy floss” colored vinyl? COUNT ME IN!
No waaayyy!!! Absolutely perfect pairing, I can't imagine anyone better positioned to interview these guys than you Elliot. Their new album is absolutely perfect!!
I love how passionate Michael is about every single thing and has an adorable laugh, and then Brian is just so chill and happy to get a word in here and there 😂 love these guys, one of the best in the world right now
I feel like this video was made specifically for me, it’s insane. Been a fan of the lemon twigs since early 2017, and a fan of Elliot roberts since his first video
I haven't finished the interview, but these guys seem like very nice and bright guys. I've been going through their catalogue and it's been nothing but rewarding. Great duo. I have a feeling these guys will only being getting more popular.
Your video introduced me to the lemon twigs and I haven’t been able to stop listening to them since. There new album is so fucking prefect. I’m so happy for you that you got the interview. ❤❤❤
I'm going to see them tomorrow! (Jersey City!). Actually, Elliot, you're the one who introduced me to them! I found your review video a few months ago. So thank you! That was a great conversation. Really cool hanging out with you guys!
Me too! And I'm just back from seeing them in Jersey City! I hadn't heard of them a few months ago and now I'm a diehard fan. They were so great. Man, such.a great show. So tight, so full of energy and. such a lush sound. And you know what they closed with? "Good Vibrations!" I mean, talk about a bold choice! And they nailed it.
Thanks so much for the love and the detailed convo with Michael and Brian. It’s a special time to be here when these last two records. Timeless music, songs and recordings
Ordered my concert tickets last week after a many months of obsession after i saw your videos in January. Can't wait. They quickly have become one of my favourite bands, and hearing them geek out over "Keeping the summer alive" is hilarious and impressive at the same time
Absolutely fantastic interview, my appreciation for these guys grew so much throughout this conversation. Loved hearing them talk about the influence Foxygen had on them-that band might be over now, but I really love the way Rado took them under his wing and essentially passed them the torch. He's gotta be so proud of these guys and the creative peaks they've reached. I dunno it just feels really wholesome the way their legacies are intertwined. Got a lot more thoughts but I'll leave it there, you absolutely nailed it Elliot great job!!
im so fucking happy you found these guys, i remember thinking a few years back like damn i think he’d like these dudes and sure enough years later here u are interviewing them holy fuck!
Great interview Elliot! Love this band and love your channel, man. It’s really great. I just picked up the new album on vinyl and bought tickets for their show in Boston.
Elliot!!! You killed this interview! Thank you so much for the amazing questions you asked. You can tell that they felt very comfortable talking to you and enjoyed themselves. ❤
Excellent and well presented interview with a couple of very talented and grounded musicians. Their music videos add another layer to their art which is refreshing and entertaining. Great channel Elliot.
This was like the best hour and a half of my life. The lemon twigs have been a favorite band of mine and your videos are some of my favorite on here sooo when I say I gasped I’m not lying
OMG - world's collide! You're one of my go to channels on all thing Beatles and The Lemon Twigs are literally their heir apparent! Great interview. A Dream is All We Know is their Rubber Soul / Pet Sounds. How exciting is it going to be to hear their Revolver, Sgt. Pepper and Smile in the years to come!
What an absolutely wonderful long form interview. Very well done. Those guys don't seem to have a hint of pretentiousness to them despite all of their success which is so refreshing. I could have easily listened to the three of you talk for another hour and a half. Kudos to you for your interviewing skills and kudos to the brothers for making ANOTHER phenomenal album!
41:37 Brian’s “little acoustic thing” live makes me feel like I’m ascending to heaven. I hope he never stops. Would have loved to see it Should Have Known From The Start live. Such a vibe. -Lily from Jersey City 😊
I've been listening to the Lemon Twigs for around 18 months and it's been a terrific journey so far! It's just a shame that their music isn't as huge as it deserves to be. This is by far the best interview I've seen with them. Good job, Elliot!
I've been OBSESSED and also worried that I had set my expectations too high for the new LP. What a gem it is. On the shoulders of giants they surf, harmonise, dance, sing and captivate us. It's so weird being 32 and feeling I just played one of the best records I've ever listened to.
I saw TH-cam comment refer to them as Lemon and his brother twig and that is how I shall too Also shoutout to you you are the person who got me into the twigs and I have fallen in love with their music
I don't know why I've been sleeping on these guys. I heard a song of theirs several years ago and wasn't totally impressed, so I filed them away in the "maybe I'll check them out later" section of my brain. But I listened to their new album today and holy shit. I've been missing out! Now I have a whole catalog of music to go back and explore, so thank you for that. They're very clever and charming and remind me a lot of how artists used to be in the 60s and early 70s before music became so infected by cynicism. A more innocent time I suppose.
Favorite youtuber talking to my favorite modern band! ❤ Lovely to hear you guys nerd out over beach boys and beatles, i love how earnestly obsessed these guys are with what they do.
A well done interview. Elliot knows his subject and the brothers know theirs AND everyone is relaxed. The Lemon Twigs very unique sound owes a lot to their enjoyment of analog technology (but it's mostly due to their tremendous talent). Hope to hear the Mellons open for the Lemon Twigs if they ever tour the US West Coast.
Great interview! Love to hear that they mention about of Montreal. Their early stuff are amazing. This album and last album are so great!! I always play those album when I drive. They improved pop music with their magic.
Beautiful interview. I love the songs they played, the technical aspects, the recordings, the albums, everything. And I hope the Lemons do their version of Now and Then with the bridge, even if it's live! Greetings from Argentina.
They guys are incredible. I listened to Everything Harmony it based on the review and I can't stop listening to them. I feel sorry for the rest of my music question, its being ignored.
Awesome interview! They seem like really cool dudes with good vibes! Enjoying the new record a lot and I agree with them on Now and Then. RIP to the bridge.
I love the shoutouts to early Of Montreal albums and MGMT's second album! Also such great Beatles talk. I agree that the Beach Boys doc wound up as a retread of many others. I think 'Endless Harmony' might be the best one out there since it does go a bit into 70's and 80's more than any others I have seen
I found out about the Lemon Twigs from your video, and last night I saw them live for the first time. The show was in a really small venue, I was standing front row, and I had such a great time! It makes me so happy to see that you got to speak with them, and this video is such a treat! Amazing job and thanks for introducing me to a new favorite band!
Great video! 'Church Bells' also reminds me of some Cleaners from Venus / Martin Newell solo stuff. I gotta think they are familiar with that stuff which is also clearly influenced by the same source material

Man, what a great interview! I love your channel so much and finally got into the lemon twigs a few weeks ago and now I'm almost as obsessed with them as I am with The Beatles haha. Love from Germany
I’ve never heard of The Lemon Twigs but this was an interesting watch and I will def check out the album. I was struck by what they were saying about ‘Now and Then’… I love the track and my favorite part is that Paul didn’t include the original bridge. That was the worst part of the demo for me, not to mention that the lyrics wouldn’t make sense now (we‘ve already lost them.) The new bridge is my favorite part. With the slide guitar, the strings, and the old Beatles harmonies, it’s overwhelming. Good interview.
These boys have been mastering their craft for so long now, this album feels like they seriously reached expert level songwriting, performing and recording. It sounds effortless. Obviously they tried and spent the time to create such a beautiful album, but the magic i think is the fact it sounds so natural and effortless and timeless. You see a ton of bands now days trying to embody the past, and it comes off as tryhard or corny, and sometimes you can just tell it’s something new, it’s hard to actually nail it. But these two cats have really time traveled and it’s an insane flex how good and easy they make it seem. My fav album this year for sure. Definite beach boys vocals, melodies and harmonies everywhere, also Paul McCartney arrangements and symphony type parts, lotta baroque British stuff tooIt’s not like they’re ripping off history, more like adding to it. These kids are amazing, been listening to them since the beginning and the growth is insane. Cheers to the Lemon Twigs.
I was there at their live stream of the album drop on bandcamp today and said in the chat "Gee I sure can't wait for Elliot Roberts to release a video about this album!". Was not expecting this...
Great interview, loved your questions, been loving these guys since 2017 and many of your questions I've been waiting to hear the answers to for a long time
The random HD shots of Elliot reacting and blinking are so comedic to me
Gotta change it up every now and then lol
The hair game in this video is off the charts.
SERIOUSLY!!
"But I was so much older then."
"And I'm younger than that now."
Nice Byrds reference. Or, uh, Bob Dylan reference.
