However she was killed in the explosion meant for Sonny caused by Alcazar which only caused Alexis and Carly to basically dig in and hide the truth even more until the fire!

I am yet to understand why people say that other characters were ruined so that Sonny could be a good mobster.....and why couldn't he be the lethal mobster with a heart of gold.....some men are just plain bad but there are others who do bad things for business but are still good hearted.

Ric was cast as the ne'er do well brother, instead of a more rounded character so that any of Sonny's acts would seem understandable or pale in comparison. All the women characters who fell under Sonny's spell. Why? A fairly distant guy with a repellant career. What if the show had shown several of the times Sonny murdered someone? What is some of those women showed some self-respect and stopped going back to him (ie. Brenda or even Carly)? I often asked this question back 20 years ago when I was a regular viewer. What if Sonny was played by a plain looking actor but given the same attributes? Would he be so popular? I don't think so.

Alexis, the one time strong, gutsy, and intelligent woman we met during the Cassadine storylines was turned into a woman who could hardly get one sentence out when she was with Sonny. Robin who was like a little sister to Sonny (his words) for the longest time was put into the enemy camp for many viewers. At this time, the viewership was divided between the Sonny/Carly/Jason camp and those who liked other characters. It was quite obvious who the writers (Guza and Korte) were writing for and against. A character can have multiple sides to their personalities (and should, if written well). THE thing writers should NOT do is write for and against characters in an obvious attempt to placate certain fan groups.
Sonny’s first act as Kristina’s father is very telling of the kind of parent he is, he uses her as a weapon to punish Alexis for lying to him, Steve test us all to see if Kristina can be spared a horrible death but don’t give her mother any sliver of hope or relief that she may be saved, he doesn’t relent even after Steve reiterates that Alexis is loosing her mind with worry because hey she lied to me WTF! He then goes into the room of a small child who doesn’t know him and is for all intensive purposes dying and introduces himself as her daddy, I'm suprised he didn't piss on her to mark his territory.
I don't know. I can see it a different way. First, just being tested could just give false hope. Hey we got 3 new people to test. That raises hope. Then you find out none of them match. How far is that drop? Is it even worth knowing? I don't see the need in telling her at that point. Next Alexis has been hiding who the child's father is. And she didn't even bother to tell daddy despite knowing her kid is dying. That would suggest to me that there is a whole level of dysfunction a doctor wouldn't get in the middle of. My kid is dying. And so I know the real daddy could be a match and he has a father and sister out there, so 2 more possible matches, yet I'm not going to tell the truth to get them to help. For a mother not thinking about herself, a call to bio dad would have been the first thing done. Think about when Lulu was sick. Laura reached out to her former captors, the Cassadines, seeking a match. Even knowing it could ruin her current life - her having to tell Luke - she reached out anyway willing to deal with the fallout as long as the kid was better. What you're saying about Sonny could also be said about Alexis. Especially, since the kid is dying and time is of the essence and yet, hmm, let me work on making sure Sonny has no parental rights before I do anything to get the kid well. Alexis is a lawyer, she knows better than anyone that if Sonny is so bad with a long criminal history and living a dangerous lifestyle, she can make an argument in Court about why he shouldn't have any parental rights. Think about and deal with that later. She's not exactly being the stellar mother here either. Then again, this isfiction. And in parts not even good fiction. Sonny tells the doctor no decisions should be made without his consent. Hate to break it to you, but being the bio dad doesn't automatically give you any legal rights or say so.
