Great review, Jon! While I haven't tried a Karve razor yet, I did have a Rockwell 6S. I really didn't like the clunky feel that I got from the razor. Karve looks much sleeker and easier to handle. Speaking of handles, the Karve handle look great and functional. Thanks! Cheers! -Rob
Jon, thanks for the informative video. I'm a little biased because I have the Talbot soap and the WCS honeycomb brush. I've ordered the aluminum razor and await it's delivery.
I owned a brass CB and I wanted to love it as the guy who makes them is from my hometown. Unfortunately, couldn’t get consistently irritation free shaves from it. I used the A, B, and C plates. Sold it to a fellow wet shaver who loves it. Switched to the Rockwell 6S and seem to get more consistent shaves with it.
@@johngrinnell That is a very generous offer and I would love to give them a try! Shoot me an email at latherhog@gmail.com and we can figure out logistics.
Latherhog, no I’m not interested in the brass version. I want the stainless steel or the aluminum. I think I’m getting to get an ATT calypso, or Karve if I can ever find one.
I have a CB in brass 3.5' handle and D,E,G plates on it gives me great shaves. Only one issue i have, that why couldn't they put the year stamped on next to the pins! I saw a ealier reveiw and saw the year stamped on next to one of the pins, but on mine there is nothing on it! So it would be awsome if the CB Company could in the future put the year on the razor like Gillette did and the Rex does it!!!!!!
I simply could not wait any longer for the aluminum, so I purchased the brass. I hope it can compete with the Rockwell 6s though. Ever since I used my Rockwell 6s I don't want to use any of my other 15+ razors. I have high hopes, but so far nothing has given me a smoother close shave than the 6s.
The Rockwell is such a fantastic razor. The good news is that I find the feel of the shave between the Rockwell and Karve are VERY different. Has the Karve arrived? How has it been?
@@Latherhog I did get my Brass Karve with A,B,C SB plates. Now that I received the razor I am glad that the aluminum razor has been out of stock so long. I never would have ordered the brass otherwise. The Razor is absolutely gorgeous, feels great, and shaves like an S Tier razor like the Rockwell 6s/c. I agree with you 100%, they shave very different and I love both the Rockwell and Karve. I shaved with the Karve for about 4-5 days in a row, then I felt like a changeup. I then shaved with a Rockwell 6c, and it felt incredible as well. I trust both of these razors with my head shaves as well, and love them both. IMO, there is no better value on the market for razors than the Rockwell 6c and 6s. I recommend the Rockwell 6c to all beginning wet shavers, there is no better razor at that price point IMO. You also don't see stainless steel Razors beating out the Rockwell 6s at that price either. It generally offers a superior shave at a lower cost, even after the price increase. I am so glad I ordered the Karve CB, it will always have a place in my shave den. Amazing !
Thank you for a great 👍 video! I'm very interested in the Karve aluminum razor since I already have the brass version. I also have the same soap (Talbot) and the WCS honeycomb brush. Great minds think alike. Keep up the good work. I'll be waiting for the comparison.
Great review Jon! Glad to see how much you enjoyed this one. Love the format and spotlight.
Thank you Ruds, obviously this review wouldn't have been possible without you loaning me the razor ;)
I've really been looking at upping my razor game. Great video, very informative.
Gerard Gustilo Karve is doing some outstanding work!

Thanks for watching Rob! I agree that design-wise the Rockwell is a bit more clunky, but definitely still a solid shaver.
Great review, Jon! My CB Brass has been a great razor for me, but I look forward to trying the aluminum one day for the lighter option.
Thanks a lot HD, I hope the aluminum ones are restocked soon!

Thanks for watching! Sorry to hear that the Karve didn’t work out but it sounds like you found a razor that works for you.
Latherhog - all good, thanks. I enjoy your reviews, keep it up!
Nice review, gorgeous razor!
Erik Lawson Thank you for watching!
Absolutely do the Brass version! Also it would be awesome if you could do a video on any of the Ikon razors
Thanks for watching John, I don't own any razors from Ikon but I'll see what I can do!
Latherhog I actually might be purchasing a set of them from a friend. It would be my honor to have you shave with them.

Thanks for watching Mohammad!
I’ve been trying to buy one of these for months. There’s always sold out. I think I’m going to give up on them. Good video LH, keep it up 🤠
John Vigil Thanks for watching! Sorry to hear you’ve had no luck scoring one, have you tried the brass version?

If you're still looking for one, I hope this comment reaches you in time. They're back in stock RIGHT NOW.

I didn’t know the older models had the year stamped on the head!

Thanks for watching Keith! Looks like we're gear twins :) Which handle and plate do you have for your brass Karve?
@@Latherhog I have the 3 inch and the 3.5 inch handles with the B,C, and D plates, I use the B plate most of the time. Thanks.
I also like to use the Gillette silver blue blades.

Ciao, Keith.
Hai poi comprato la versione in alluminio??
Sono tentato anch'io (ho già CB in ottone).
