It's indeed Vedic spiritual celebration, including the primary VIVAHAM. It's sad, of late these Vedic rituals have been ignored to the most, except in few orthodox families, and become a place of meeting point for relatives to gossip high about their children settled in abroad and their frequent visits to foreign countries. These celebrations have become a get together point . This has to change and the importance of the function has to be detailed by the pundits to the members gathered. more importance is given to entertainment and food and spiritual involvement is conspicuously absent.

the gatherings to keep quite
and pay attention to the
Vedic rituals. Unfortunately
nobody pays attention.and

going on. Very sad gentleman.
