I saw Static X three times in concert, and those are amongst the most physically draining experiences of my life. His concerts were a full body workout, and I know doing so now would likely kill me. RIP Wayne.
saw them earlier this year along with sevendust and dope. They still put on one hell of a show. i was in the outside of the pit, even just the outside, just waves of bodies crashing into you is a workout lol.
@lostandleftbehind that soundtrack was JONATHAN DAVIS from KORN, his first soundtrack, in the movie, most of the songs are sung by him. I love the movie too!!! Can't wait to see THE CROW reboot
Late Static-X frontman Wayne Static (Wayne Richard Wells) called the band's music "evil disco"... A mix of electronic beats and grooves w/ heavy metal, often called 'industrial metal'... 🤖 Wayne Static had been involved in music since the 80's, apparently having been in a band (Deep Blue Dream) w/ Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins... He formed Static-X in the 90's w/ Tony Campos (bass) and Ken Jay (drums)... guitarist Koichi Fukuda joined before the band completed and released their 1999 debut album 'Wisconsin death trip'... Static-X was one of the breakthrough new bands on Ozzfest '99 tour in the USA and MTV pushed the music videos for the singles 'Push it'... "I'm with stupid"... the album sold gold, then platinum. The band shared the stage w/ Pantera on tour and that was a huge influence on the 2nd album 'Machine' in 2001, which was recorded as a trio after guitarist Koichi Fukuda left Static-X and was replaced on tour by Tripp Eisen (guitar) and the album sold gold (half million copies) in the US w/ the singles - 'This is not' ... 'Black and white' ... 'Cold'... 3rd album 'Shadow Zone'... also saw Static-X fire drummer Ken Jay and track the album w/ drummer Josh Freese in 2003. Nick Oshiro (drums) joined the band for the tour and it produced the singles - 'The Only' ... 'So' ... 4th album 'Start a war' in 2005 marked a return to their original sound on 'Wisconsin death trip'... but guitarist Tripp Eisen was fired after being arrested on criminal charges... Songs from the album included - 'Dirthouse' ... "I'm the one"... Koichi Fukuda (guitar) rejoined the band full time and delivered the 5th album 'Cannibal' in 2007... w/ the songs 'Destroyer'... 'Behemoth'... 6th (and final) Static-X album 'Cult of Static' was released in 2009... Wayne Static met his wife Tera Wray in 2007 and she became part of the band's stage act... However, relations w/ bassist Tony Campos had deteriorated by that point. Wayne Static launched a new Static-X line-up w/ all-new members... but was forced to change the name after Tony Campos took legal action against him... Wayne decided in 2013 to use the name Wayne Static but still performed Static-X songs heavily in concert. His solo album 'Pighammer' was released in 2011 and was essentially a Static-X album. In 2014, Wayne Static was found dead after an apparent OD on prescription meds... His wife Tera Wray took her own life a year later... 😪 Tony Campos (bass) got permission from Wayne Static's family to use the name Static-X and reunited the band w/ Ken Jay (drums) and Koichi Fukuda (guitar) and began playing shows and touring again after the pandemic in 2020... Their new frontman 'Xero' on guitar & vocals took on the stage persona of the late Wayne Static, whose last work was released as new Static-X albums 'Project Regeneration'.
I remember when I found static x and started to really appreciate the band was only a few weeks before Wayne passed. A friend I told about the band called me up and told me he heard that Wayne was dead. I searched and right when I saw it my heart dropped. I was so looking forward to hearing more music from him. Anytime I would hear interviews with him he always seemed so chill. Such a normal guy. I think about him sometimes and I'll rock a static x cd. Never disappoints.
The upside to having a metal head father was being the only 8 yr old that knows every pantera song and growing up with bands like static-x, still a staple of my music listening.
My dad showed me Static-X when I was young as well, along with Megadeth, Dio, and Exodus. Nothing I love more than talking and listening to music with the old man.
Finally ! I love your reactions, and know you got to one of the most influentual bands for me ^^ You may want to check out "This is not" or "Black and White". "The Trance is the Motion" is also a good one, especially because their Bassist is doing backups really good. Thank you very much for this one !
so many great songs - dirthouse, bled for days, destroyer, push it, i'm with stupid, wisconsin death trip, black and white, cold, i'm the one. Wayne also went solo - static killer, assassins of youth
RIP Wayne...he was very cool dude, and I had the honor for meeting him in person outside his stage persona. Love this song, and I am 100% agree with @Quakers_trains here. Push it, I'm with stupid and cold are great songs also. Plus "So" is one of my personal favorite slow (ish) song from them. 🤘😎🤘
Check out Cold that was on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack and his version of Not Meant for Me from the same soundtrack which is written in the character The Vampire Lestat
@@TEXAS_SKOLDIER Forsaken is the one David Draiman from Disturbed did for the soundtrack because Jonathan Davis did the vocals in the movie but his record label wouldn’t let be on the soundtrack release so Jonathan got some of his friends like Wayne Static,David Draiman,Chester Bennington, and Jay Gordon to do the songs for the soundtrack release
the new "singer" zero is kinda neat in a way for the memory for Wayne Static. If you know of the band Dope you may know of zero's rumored identity Edsel.
This song was like their flagship! Need For Speed Underground was promoted with this song and it was very popular on the playlist of that video game soundtrack! The band was unique! They also were well known as the "Evil Disco" style with groovy and industrial metal! Sadly we lost Wayne, but the band still exists till this day! I m glad they still do it very good even with the new vocalist from Dope! Check the Black and White video! Still amazing like no other bands!
this griddiness in the voice your calling is the power of pure growl / shout / scream technique. fry vocal, combining with whisper, combining with pointing a note to sing. You create all three parts in your diaphragm. Nowhere else, because than your throat is gonna die.
This is perhaps their most mainstream sounding song. I read that the song is aimed towards those in the industry who tried to push Static X in a certain direction. No idea if that was their actual intention. Static X is certainly a fun band, I mean, their genre is called Evil Disco. 😄 The music is so catchy and dance-able and just makes you want to bop. That's probably why I like them and Babymetal both. The band was revived a few years back after Wayne died in 2014 and I think their new songs and performances are just as good as the original material. Many of the new songs use old and unused recordings of Wayne Static. I recommend "Push It" which is an old classic and "All These Years", which is one of the best new songs.
This is a single from their album "Shadow Zone." This is where Static-X put a lot more melody in their songs, mostly in the singles. That scream that he does throughout the song...that's his usual voice! I miss Wayne!
RIP Wayne. I was lucky enough to see Wayne w/ Static-X like four times back in the day, and have since seen them twice w/ Edsel Dope on vocals (whom does as good of a job as you could ever hope for). Wayne and Static-X will always be one of my go-to bands
STATIC X WAS AWESOME. PIONEERS OF THE MUSIC THEY'RE PLAYING. IM SO HAPPY TO HAVE SEEN THEM. I GOT AN AUTOGRAPHED PIC OF WAYNE STATIC. THIS IS A SONG WITH ALOT OF ANGER. THEY WONT CHANGE HIM. THAT'S WHAT THAT MEANS
Good stuff! 👍 Definitely bring more. I recommend "Bled For Days", "I Am" or "The Trance Is The Motion." This is evil disco, and I really feel the embodiment of it in those tracks. Basically anything from their album "Wisconsin Death Trip." Also do more live Muse! Hopefully the slightly older stuff 😂 Thanks!
Ohhhh...sweetie pie. Static X (and NIN) music helped me through a very difficult time in my life. I was married to a narcissist. It was like walking on eggshells all the time. Then he announced he was leaving the marital home. All those Static X layers came out and were ugly! RIP WAYNE!!!
He also said one time that how he keeps his hair up was with "the blood od catholic school girls" there was actually a hair product kalled just that, back when hot topic was still kul
Personally, what a great choice to start with. Static-X has been one of my favorite groups since I first heard them in a Target TV section in 1999. Wayne Static's death hurt me more than any other musician's passing that I have been alive for.
Static - X was my band growing up. Wayne stood out the most to me, I listened to the Shadow Zone album, The Only is a track from that. It was also in NFS Underground. I did listen to Korn, Disturbed and Linkin Park but Static X was it for me. Some many memories with this song. Wayne Static was a powerhouse or at least I thought. I am grateful that I grew up when nu metal and grunge was peak.
This song is featured in Need for speed:Underground 2003 and True Crime:Streets of LA which are popular pc games of early 2000s which bumped the popularity of the band by a huge margin
Haha One Of My Favorite Bands Growing Up. I'm 33 Now And This Was My Favorite Song In Need For Speed Underground. Which I'm Seeing Be Said A Lot. Love That.
I love love love Static - X. there are so so many great songs. You've got to start with their Wisconsin Death Trip album. Push It, I'm With Stupid, Bled for Days, Otsegolation, Fix, The Trance is the Motion. Their Machine album. Permanence, Black and White, Cold, Structural Defect, ...In a Bag. all great. If you get more into it I'll recommend some more off their 3 and 4th albums.
I remember Static X, System of a Down, and Slipknot all came out in the same year. I saw all 3 that year playing in front of dozens of people. Static X and Slipknot I saw at the same show. Out of the 3, I thought Static X was going to be the next big thing. System and Slipknot were zany and silly where as Static X was laser focused on stage and gave off the aura of a professional band who had been at it for years. Who knew they'd be completely eclipsed by the other two back then? Still they made a Hell of an impression on me and are criminally underrated. Their song "So" is still one of the most heartbreaking metal songs I've ever heard knowing Wayne, the singer, had basically given up by that point and was basically admitting it through that song.
Distinct and unique, one of my top 3 bands. Recommend my favs, 1 from each album: I Am, Structural Defect, Kill Your Idols, Set It Off, No Submission, You am I, Terminator Oscillator, Kamikaze, and probably Static Killer from solo Wayne
in high school in one of my classes we had to do a presentation with a song and explain the meaning behind it, while everyone chose rap or hip hop songs i was "the only" one to use a metal song and it was this one i chose hahaha
I can't believe I'm 19 hours late to my fave Static X song reaction. Where's my fellow NFS people at? Also Push it and Cold are other great songs by Static X 😊❤ RIP to an absolute LEGEND
RIP Wayne
he never lost his live performance intensity. bought tickets to see him in richmond and he pssed before the show
:3 I saw him live at the free Ozzfest, the supposed last Ozzfest. They were awesome! RIP FH Astral Realms 💀👻. Shalom.
Oh yeah, Need For Speed Underground memories.
Especially if you are at Dave and Busters or Round 1 and you have the speakers built in the seat
I spent so much time on that game on the Gamecube. This song is pure nostalgia.
I played that game a lot on the days of Playstation back in the day and I absolutely loved it 😊
This was -THE- song when I was racing in NFSU. I really want them to remake that game ngl.
Don't forget about ShapeShifter by Styles of Beyond feat. Celldweller
I saw Static X three times in concert, and those are amongst the most physically draining experiences of my life. His concerts were a full body workout, and I know doing so now would likely kill me. RIP Wayne.
i can attest to that, fucked my ankle up at a static x show, drank so much that night i was seeing triple lol
There was a distinct difference in being 44 vs 24 when I saw them. I did the pit for sure, but yeah … I didn’t STAY in the pit.
saw them earlier this year along with sevendust and dope. They still put on one hell of a show. i was in the outside of the pit, even just the outside, just waves of bodies crashing into you is a workout lol.
"PUSH IT" is another great STATIC X song 🎵, the one that was on the "QUEEN OF THE DAMNED" soundtrack is really good too
The song on the Queen Of The Damned soundtrack i believe is Cold
@lostandleftbehind that soundtrack was JONATHAN DAVIS from KORN, his first soundtrack, in the movie, most of the songs are sung by him. I love the movie too!!! Can't wait to see THE CROW reboot
The song they sang for Queen of the damned was Cold my friend.
@user-nr3sk8ib4w on the album was david, in the movie was Jonathan. Both great version. But Jonathan's better imo
@@beaconlee agreed
He sounded just like that live, the guy was great and a big part of the nu metal scene in the 2000's. RIP Wayne.
"Push It", "Bled For Days", "This is Not", "I'm With Stupid", "Cold", "The Only", are all great tracks by Static-X.
i don't know why but love dump was one of my favorites
skinnyman
Destroyer!!
Can’t forget dirthouse
Shadow Zone.
One of the best song from Need For Speed series! 🤘This brings back so many memories... ☺
The song from "Queen of the Damned" is called "Cold". Wayne dubbed his style of music "Evil Disco". RIP Wayne

I am 40 now and was 19 when the song came out. Listening to it gives me flashbacks, really good times. Everything seemed so untroubled back then.
Back when shows were like $10... the good ole days!

Alot liked static x. Not just metal heads. There was a place for anyone good on the radio
STATIC-X - PUSH IT
Love this band thanks for the reaction! Nobody does Static X. Seen them live like 20 years ago. Such an amazing show! They killed it! RIP Wayne

Met Wayne in 2001 at a music festival. Was a great guy. The show was one of the most energetic ones I've seen.
I've seen static X probably 20 times in concert, met Wayne a couple times an was a great guy. Their shows were always full of energy. Great reaction ❤
Wayne had a one-of-a-kind voice, his lyrical tempo and annunciation was so compelling!!!
Check out Cold that was on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack and his version of Not Meant for Me from the same soundtrack which is written in the character The Vampire Lestat

QotD soundtrack is still one of my favorites of all time.
"Push it" and "I'm stupid" oh she is getting closer to "dig by mudvayne 😂😂😂😂
Static x destroyer is another really good one
God I've been waiting for someone to do some Static X. Thank you & please do more!
I saw Static-X at Ozzfest back in '07, before Wayne passed, and they were awesome.
the new "singer" zero is kinda neat in a way for the memory for Wayne Static. If you know of the band Dope you may know of zero's rumored identity Edsel.

One of my favorite bands of all times. Listening to them since 4th grade like 20 years ago.
Yes! Love Static-X! Evil disco! Rip Wayne. I’d recommend Push It, Destroyer, Dirt House, I’m with Stupid

The entier Shadow zone album is my favorite album. I still say that shock metal died with Wayne Static. R.I.P wayne 🤘🤘❤️
Yes! Ray finally get to experience Static X. RIP Wayne
Wisconsin Death Trip and Shadow Zone are peak nu metal, Shadow Zone is my go to gym album
yes! they’ve been my favorite band since i first heard them on the radio back in ‘99
Awesome reaction to one of my favorite bands. Wayne is so underrated as a singer probably because his life was cut short, man I miss his voice alot.
New viewer, love the stank face you made as the riffs were kicking in. Subscribed

Cold is one of my all-time favourites from Static X
The late 90s/early 2000s was a hell of a time in rock music. Definitely check out Adema if you haven't.
please more static-x!!!!
They were so amazing!
I LOVED growing up listening to this kind of music! I was 13 in 2000 and this was right up my alley.
He was even better live. And stoked that this is the first time you're hearing it
they always invoke this bittersweet nostalgic feeling in me because i used to hear them all day long in my teens
"Love Dump" my life long favorite ❤ miss Wayne always.
My favorite by Static X is “This is Not”. I guess for me it hits close to home 😂
FINALLY she's listening to the EVIL DISCO!!!!!!!
I love this band. They have some bangers like Destroyer and Push it. Every time I listen to them I just get waves of nostalgia.
На этой музыке мы росли ! Ходили в компьютерные салоны в 2004 году и везде звучал Nu metal ! Крутое время в России, когда люди выдыхали после 90х.
Ohhhh...sweetie pie.

Hell yea, Static X! RIP Wayne, you're forever missed!
Glad I got to see them live ages ago.
RIP Wayne. The singer of Dope, Edsel is filling is as Xero, their current lead paying all respect to Wayne. Static X is and will always be Evil Disco!
Welcome to the sounds of "evil disco". 😊👍👍👍👍
Imagine driving with 300km and take corners with a 100 and engage the nitro 6:09
RIP Wayne Static, I was lucky enough to see them on the Wisconsin Death Trip tour and they were amazing live.
Stingwray is still my favorite of theirs.
i love wayne and miss him dearly was able to see them live before his passing they were all amazing live look up Static-X Dead Souls
One of their all time greats in my opinion is 'Goat' it's killer! I love it!
This song and skinnyman were unlock key memories from my childhood nfs underground and most wanted
So glad I got to see him play live. RIP WAYNE.
This song is featured in Need for speed:Underground 2003 and True Crime:Streets of LA which are popular pc games of early 2000s which bumped the popularity of the band by a huge margin
The only time I recall actually being upset over a celebrity death.
I love that song 🤘🏻🤘🏻
defenitly my best live shows ive seen
When she said his voice sounds Dope I cracked up 😂 if only she knew what the current lineup holds…RIP Wayne you are still awesome 🤘
Wisconsin death trip album is great
Haha One Of My Favorite Bands Growing Up. I'm 33 Now And This Was My Favorite Song In Need For Speed Underground. Which I'm Seeing Be Said A Lot. Love That.
Like far too many times before and since, a great talent that has left us far sooner than we would have liked.
I love love love Static - X. there are so so many great songs. You've got to start with their Wisconsin Death Trip album. Push It, I'm With Stupid, Bled for Days, Otsegolation, Fix, The Trance is the Motion. Their Machine album. Permanence, Black and White, Cold, Structural Defect, ...In a Bag. all great. The song Kill your Idols is a real banger. My favorite on that album
Static-X -Cold 👍👍👍🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is my first time... And i have to say his vocals. First. Time.
One of the best bands from 2000s
Literally all of static x is great
The music video in this song absolutely screams late 90's turn of the millennium Matrix era vibes.
I’ve been listening to static X since I was a baby
Skinny Man by these guys is another great one! Brings me back to NFS most wanted which was by far the best soundtrack in the series!
nice choice. this is probably their best overall song.
I agree with most of the comments. You want "rolling" (more like unstoppable momentum) you want "Push It".
That bass though
:3 I saw him live at the free Ozzfest, the supposed last Ozzfest. They were awesome! RIP FH Astral Realms 💀👻. Shalom.
in high school in one of my classes we had to do a presentation with a song and explain the meaning behind it, while everyone chose rap or hip hop songs i was "the only" one to use a metal song and it was this one i chose hahaha
I can't believe I'm 19 hours late to my fave Static X song reaction. Where's my fellow NFS people at? Also Push it and Cold are other great songs by Static X 😊❤ RIP to an absolute LEGEND
This song was my first introduction to Static-X after this I was hooked you should react to I'm The One off the album Start A War.
Wish I had gotten into Static-X while Wayne was alive. RIP.
Push-it, cold, Black & white
All good other Static-x songs to try
