TSLY Fumbled the Bag Already

  • In this video, I wanted to talk about the reality of TSLY ETF. The truth is, TSLY (along with TSLA stock) has been dropping significantly lately, and putting a lot of investors including myself in the dividend trap. Will it continue to drop, or rebound back to heightened levels? I guess we'll find out soon enough!
    Let's hope that TSLY will at least keep paying out its monthly dividend going forward because if it suspends the dividend, we're frankly all screwed.
    I go over what my current TSLY position is looking like and my plans to hold TSLY for the next few months or even years.
    Let me know what you think!

    🤣🤣🤣🤣 same point of view as every other youtuber. The whole market is messed up right now. Tsla is down so, shocker, tsly is also down🤦‍♂️. Maybe just buy and hold just like most other stocks/etfs. Everybody is scared when the market is bearish. Just be patient and collect your cash in the mean time.

    TSLY and several stocks have fallen lately. The stock market fell a lot last week.
    Remember, TSLY does not hold Tesla stock, it does calls and puts on Tesla, but does not hold any stock in Tesla. Is TSLY risky? Yes...so if you don't like risky stocks, don't buy them.
    IMO, Tesla will recover and especially in this environment where EV Cars are becoming more popular than in the past.
    The market is looking a lot like March 2020 where stocks tumbled. Recovery took a while and now here we are again. Expect the market to eventually recover, and my advice is to not panic sell...you'll regret it.

    Honestly, I'm not discouraged at all. These ETFs are built to profit from volatility. There's been plenty of that for TSLA this month. What all these YieldMax funds have in common is that they are going to ride on the underlying stock's performance for NAV appreciation. Bad time for TSLA right now and maybe for the next year. But, long term, Tesla is likely to remain a beast and I expect there will be times we'll get moments like this. I've rotated some out into others like PYPY where I see a higher near term upside for the stock. Right now, due to DCAing, my TSLY position is only about 3% underwater. That's something the dividends can crush over a year. That's kind of my strategy DCA to keep my cost average as close to flat as possible. If I can do that, I'm good with $0.40 per share or $0.80 in a given month. Then rotating to the funds tracking stocks that are doing better. I expect NVDA to close the year strong. Rotating back there. Also into the Defiance funds - QQQY and JEPY - because I like the diversification of that strategy versus the one stock.

    Seems like less volatile stock would be better for this strategy of options. Aply and Nvdy and Msfo are doing much better. Tsly is too much of rollercoaster ride that mostly goes down.

    • @timmoore9736
      @timmoore9736 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It would appear you have not looked at any stock charts. At the beginning of 2023 it was at about 8. It has risen about 6 times, and fallen 6 times, and is still above entry point at the beginning. It is volatile and that my be a fair reason to stay out of the way. On the other hand, the distribution which is coming from options is based on the volatility of TSLA, not the price of TSLA. As TSLA becomes more volatile, option prices rise. As option prices rise, the distribution will be higher. The primary purpose behind the process is to provide distributions, w;hich, if you are using DRIP, buy additional stock. And APLY, NVDY and MSFO right now have high ETF prices and lower distribution - which means that they acrete fewer shares each month than TSLY - which has a lower price and a higher distribution.

  • @timmoore9736
    @timmoore9736 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Not to pick, but TSLY does not give a dividend - it distributes income from the options it places. As you noted, you have an unrealized loss; and if it goes up and you hold rather than selling, it will have an unrealized gain. Mine is in a ROTH and I intend to sit on it. And in the meanwhile, when TSLY distributes, my DRIP buys more shares than it would if the price were going up. Is it buying enough shares to stay even? No, but that is not why I bougt it... it is a long term game.

    Tesla AI is where the real money will be and is leagues ahead of everyone else. You have to factor in Starlink also with every Tesla vehicle automatically being connected. There is a lot of things going on behind the scenes with Tesla that nobody is really talking about. Robotics, Solar, AI, etc. Everyone is talking about the vehicles but Tesla is much more than that. I see it being a juggernaut in the tech industry in which most of the population will go, "Where the hell did that come from?"
    My opinion is that Elon Musk has a vision and Tesla, Starlink, and his recent buy of Twitter are all linked together in it.

    Got to love these videos where people don't know what they are talking about. TSLY is down 13.89% this year and these clowns say it's garbage, yet even their beloved SCHD is down 8.15%, and Realty Income is down 22.65%. Yeah, the market is down. But you guys selectively decide which ones to bash. Very dishonest. I'd avoid most of these jokers on youtube unless you want to be poor.

I plan to hold these shares until the price goes back up to over $14 a share until then I will capture their monthly dividend payments and put them in to more stable dividend king stocks like coke pepe MO LEG then when I sell the TSLY stick I will put the profits into kings as well

    When the principal drops that significantly you might break even if you're lucky but most often you lose

    You haven’t been trading or owning dividend stocks very long but they tend to seesaw the problem with this type of stock/etf is its not a stable dividend and probably never will be because of how they operate

    • @timmoore9736
      @timmoore9736 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      When using DRIP, a stable but low paying dividend will buy way fewer shares than an etf which has a much higher distribution - which in turn buys far more shares of the etf. It is meant to be a long term gain (as in, the old "buy and hold".
