I do a bit of fishing off the coast here in Rayong. I see many anglers in close near the land catching small fish on small scraps of bait and usually throwing them back. I go out as far as I dare and use some expensive fresh bait , usually prawn or crab or even Tuna. I sink the hook as deep as possible and wait! Amazing how it works! I usually get a 'big fish' that takes all the attention of the village when I return! Hi Dan, yet another interesting couple stories, as most times your comments spot on, what needs to be understood by foreigners is Thai culture is very different to there’s regards relationships, the word “love” is rarely spoken in most Thai families so the word means little to them, it is just that “a word” a big red flag for me would be as soon as a lady said “i love you” by the way it’s usually followed by “because you have a good heart” the reason for that phrase is obvious,,, summing up ! any money you give/spend on them today is forgotten by tomorrow your not buying “love” your only renting it!!

First of all, a divorced woman with a child from previous marriage is not good for anything but enjoyment and sex. From any country. It sound's like she is getting him emotionally attached. Re Christian Filipina, the vetting process is (from experience) simply a phone interview. Sure anyone could BS their way through probably but at least you know someone from the agency has directly spoken with & verbally confirmed their status & intentions.

Great video. As far as the story goes I would continue the relationship if it makes the guy happy but if indeed at some point she starts asking for sponsorship or bulk payment he should end it. When it comes to long term relationship they are challenging all around the world; in the USA almost 50 percent of people get divorced and many of the remaining live in quite desperation. And in my experience most attractive women look for a guy who is wealthy or at least has a lucrative career so Thailand is not that different. I suggest that for holiday travelers they should stick to the 1-3 day rule and have fun with several ladies. As they say if something looks too good to be true it usually is.

This woman was most likely a freelancer. She's hustling on her own and what she's offering is sex. In order to find her own custommers she uses dating sites. Obviously she can't do this forever (because she gets old and unatractive or even sick) and eventually needs to find a long term partner. I guess some custommers have the potential to be this long term partner for her. welp I wasn't planning on it (mostly on 2nd) but in my home country met a Thai and since this happened 6months ago, we see eachother 1-2min and max 3times a week, with at least 1night sleeping at my place! so far I have not invested much, but if it ends I'd still say it was worth it! only thing you can't get back is lost time, but I know risks

I also recall from cultural training in the US Military while stationed in the Philippines that very often ' bar girls' are past victims of rape at the hands of relatives or local neighbors and in their culture that makes them 'tainted' (Almost untouchable) so no local guys would consider marriage with them. Forty years ago, I was completely played by my now ex-wife who is a native born Colombian. Emotionally, I never really recovered. Five years ago, a native born Dominican woman who is the same age as me, attempted to use me much the way Dan often describes in the Thai woman stories. I escaped that one, but almost fell for it. The thing is that it really is not a victory. My heart became so hardened I would never believe again that a woman loved me. Both of these women had already come to the United States, where I live. But how sad, isn't it? If you meet a good one and don't believe her fully or need twenty years of "proof" before you can really trust her. You are cheating yourself. I don't go to bars, I forced myself to get used to zero alcohol beer, I don't have any problems with these low quality woman. I don't look for woman in bars and I don't date woman in Thailand who have tattoos all over them. I won't ever get married as there is no need but more importantly foreigners are often cheated with having to hand over money for the bride and though this is a traditional thing most Thai's don't give much, girls who aren't virgins don't get hardly anything. If you find girls in bars, or meet a girl who wants to go to bars then she is no good.

In Thailand, like any other country. There's no such thing as "unconditional love". We should have healthy boundaries, healthy expectations and reasonable conditions in how we want to be treated in a relationship dynamic. In Thailand, it's crucial to be honest and set the conditions early on. However, it's her choice when it comes to complying or not. Guarding our wallets to begin with, will weed out a lot of the women we DON'T want to deal with long term.
If you're going for the purpose of finding a wife, you're already behind the game that only savvy players, and the emotionally secure win. If you can't get a young girl for a loyal wife in your own country, why are you a magical thinker in other countries?

Inexperienced me dated a girl with kids once. I feel that she & her extended family could kinda tell that I developed protective feelings or concern or consideration for those young’uns: both fathers uninvolved, one of them straight-up missing y’know ? She STILL tested me with “I think I’m pregnant” when my visa was up, though. (She sent me the doctor’s lab results as a document attached to an email once I was in the USA: results: not pregnant.) I'm 61 and my Thai girlfriend is 30 and gorgeous. I met her online and we've been together just over a year. She works super hard in a hospital and has never been near the bar scene. Because she has a hard life, I've offered to help her financially, but she has always refused. Is she playing a long game, hoping for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? Possibly, but there is zero evidence of that. So far, she has been wonderful. So, can it be done? I think so, even if the odds are long. Although I'm sure Dan will remain skeptical! Lol!

I actually have met a real, honest, loving and caring Thai woman, but it is her mom doing the dirty work. Without going into much detail, I’ll simply say that I am wise enough to see this happening from a safe distance, but just be warned that the nitty gritty can be done from another angle-Mom, and even if your girl cannot recognize it. I dont really understand the "long game". If you want a relationship with a Thai woman then it's clear that you are going to support her financally (becasue you earn 10x or 100x more than her) and she's taking care of her family too so you also indirectly support her whole family. That doesn't mean they just use you for the money but they also wouldn't be with you if you had no money. Finding a wealthy husband/boifriend is basically securing their future because the Thai goverment does nothing for those women. If they are old/sick so they can't work anymore and are also single then they are done, rip. So if they make you fall in love with them and they spend a long time with you, isn't that what you want? I mean lets say she pretends to love you for 10 years then you probably had 10 amazing years... what's the problem? ^^
Agree. I think one needs to take the perspective of Thai women who don't have the career opportunities or social welfare of women in the West. The pension in thailand 600 bht is a joke.why wouldn't they want to have a loving & financially secure relationship including squirelling away some money for a rainy day. Cheap Charlie's shouldn't be looking to settle in Thailand & expect female company.
Out of date perspective or one which only applies to village life. The girls pulling tricks are not making 10x less than the average mug trawling Pattaya, the experts make very good money. Do the math, a top class bargirl can pull a bunch of ladies drinks & a barfine plus free food of course, at least through dry season most nights- call that the retainer. The real money ALL comes from remittances & 20-40k is normal ballpark EACH LDR. It's not unusual for these girls to successfully juggle 3 at a time while always keeping an opening for the inevitable eventual required replacements. That's before any are stupid enough to throw a few million on a house.
Another point is that the only reason to be keeping a woman financially is she's mothering your children, actively. I agree that the guys you mention are in effect long term renting a GFE- there's nothing real going on. ''What's the problem''? well we can only fix ourselves. The best cross cultural relationships are business focused. If you both work on building something together & both pull similar weight, that's a foundation for a meaningful relationship & if it succeeds or fails it's not one party taking advantage of the other.

Too few details to really offer any advice. We don't know how old he is, how old she is, where in Thailand she is from etc etc. I'll say this to the author though; you can talk all you like about how you'll react if she moves in for the kill on you, but until it happens, you don't know how you are going to react in the heat of battle. Like Mike Tyson says "Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the face". It's no different to getting into a fight, witnessing a crime in progress, being at an accident scene etc, you don't really know how you'll react 'til it happens. Bear in mind, if she has got evil intent (which we don't know yet), she's not going to spring the trap until she sees signs she's got you on the hook. You can try all you like to hide the signs that you've lost your nuts for her, but when it happens, she'll know. The you who hasn't yet fallen for her will react very differently to how you'll react if there's deeper emotions involved. Like I've often said in my comments, once emotions become involved, seemingly simple things like saying the word "no" or just walking away become the hardest things you'll ever have to do in your life. Prepare yourself for that. Best thing to do is watch for red flags and hit the 'eject' button immediately, because by letting things slide you're only letting yourself sink deeper into the quicksand. But, I'm not hearing anything in this story that worries me yet (apart from her being Thai) although I'd like to know ages and where she's from originally. Above all, just remember this; these women eat 'Players' for breakfast.

A wise friend once told me never commit or spend more than you are able/willing to walk away from. Build a house buy gold and live the life and enjoy the experience and culture and if the shit hits the fan you can cut and run without doing your ass. Its when you over commit its hard to let go or walk away. I have a house in the wifes village and if she wants its and not me then i wont loose sleep over the house.

The majority of all relationships are "monetised" in some way and it's the guy who provides. It's the same with most Thai guy/girl relationships. Re Christian Filipina, the vetting process is (from experience) simply a phone interview. Sure anyone could BS their way through probably but at least you know someone from the agency has directly spoken with & verbally confirmed their status & intentions.
It's an expensive, paid service & that's how it can afford to pay many TH-camrs to tout it...mostly on Philippines TH-cam channels of course. Dan was reading out their usual sales blurb

As far as the story goes I would continue the relationship if it makes the guy happy but if indeed at some point she starts asking for sponsorship or bulk payment he should end it.
When it comes to long term relationship they are challenging all around the world; in the USA almost 50 percent of people get divorced and many of the remaining live in quite desperation. And in my experience most attractive women look for a guy who is wealthy or at least has a lucrative career so Thailand is not that different. I suggest that for holiday travelers they should stick to the 1-3 day rule and have fun with several ladies. As they say if something looks too good to be true it usually is.

Actually the participation of women at work in Thailand is 58 percent and in USA 55 percent so essentially identical. And even if the woman is working and husband loses his job marriage hits the rocks. I work in a hospital in USA and when I hear the young nurses talk they all with for a rich boyfriend or husband. This woman was most likely a freelancer. She's hustling on her own and what she's offering is sex. In order to find her own custommers she uses dating sites. Obviously she can't do this forever (because she gets old and unatractive or even sick) and eventually needs to find a long term partner. I guess some custommers have the potential to be this long term partner for her. She banging him on the first day is the way she runs her business and when she realizes that this guy might be a good guy for her she might not charge him and plans to get into a relation ship with him. If the guy would not be a good potential partner she would charge him for the sex.
The fact that she spends money on him is kinda silly for him to believe because it's really not a lot of money that she's spending on him... Personally I think it's because of Catholicism/Christianity. Filipinas, by and large, are brought up to believe that there are spiritual consequences for wrongdoing. I also recall from cultural training in the US Military while stationed in the Philippines that very often ' bar girls' are past victims of rape at the hands of relatives or local neighbors and in their culture that makes them 'tainted' (Almost untouchable) so no local guys would consider marriage with them.
A sad but real situation.
The bottom line is that each Asian Country is unique. Go visit the Philippines and bring us your best 'review' Dan.

I find Filipinos comparatively easy to read, they are like an open book by comparison to most. I find Thai like Chinese, inscrutable.

Forty years ago, I was completely played by my now ex-wife who is a native born Colombian. Emotionally, I never really recovered. I don't go to bars, I forced myself to get used to zero alcohol beer, I don't have any problems with these low quality woman. I don't look for woman in bars and I don't date woman in Thailand who have tattoos all over them. I won't ever get married as there is no need but more importantly foreigners are often cheated with having to hand over money for the bride and though this is a traditional thing most Thai's don't give much, girls who aren't virgins don't get hardly anything. If you find girls in bars, or meet a girl who wants to go to bars then she is no good.

In Thailand, like any other country. There's no such thing as "unconditional love". We should have healthy boundaries, healthy expectations and reasonable conditions in how we want to be treated in a relationship dynamic. In Thailand, it's crucial to be honest and set the conditions early on. However, it's her choice when it comes to complying or not. Guarding our wallets to begin with, will weed out a lot of the women we DON'T want to deal with long term.
Unconditional love is more of a blood family thing. But even blood has its limits.

I dont really understand the "long game". If you want a relationship with a Thai woman then it's clear that you are going to support her financally (becasue you earn 10x or 100x more than her) and she's taking care of her family too so you also indirectly support her whole family. Finding a wealthy husband/boifriend is basically securing their future because the Thai goverment does nothing for those women. Out of date perspective or one which only applies to village life. The girls pulling tricks are not making 10x less than the average mug trawling Pattaya, the experts make very good money. Do the math, a top class bargirl can pull a bunch of ladies drinks & a barfine plus free food of course, at least through dry season most nights- call that the retainer. The real money ALL comes from remittances & 20-40k is normal ballpark EACH LDR. It's not unusual for these girls to successfully juggle 3 at a time while always keeping an opening for the inevitable eventual required replacements. That's before any are stupid enough to throw a few million on a house.
Another point is that the only reason to be keeping a woman financially is she's mothering your children, actively. Too few details to really offer any advice. We don't know how old he is, how old she is, where in Thailand she is from etc etc. I'll say this to the author though; you can talk all you like about how you'll react if she moves in for the kill on you, but until it happens, you don't know how you are going to react in the heat of battle. Like Mike Tyson says "Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the face". It's no different to getting into a fight, witnessing a crime in progress, being at an accident scene etc, you don't really know how you'll react 'til it happens. Bear in mind, if she has got evil intent (which we don't know yet), she's not going to spring the trap until she sees signs she's got you on the hook. You can try all you like to hide the signs that you've lost your nuts for her, but when it happens, she'll know. The you who hasn't yet fallen for her will react very differently to how you'll react if there's deeper emotions involved. Like I've often said in my comments, once emotions become involved, seemingly simple things like saying the word "no" or just walking away become the hardest things you'll ever have to do in your life. Prepare yourself for that. Best thing to do is watch for red flags and hit the 'eject' button immediately, because by letting things slide you're only letting yourself sink deeper into the quicksand. But, I'm not hearing anything in this story that worries me yet (apart from her being Thai) although I'd like to know ages and where she's from originally. Above all, just remember this; these women eat 'Players' for breakfast.

The majority of all relationships are "monetised" in some way and it's the guy who provides. It's the same with most Thai guy/girl relationships.
IMO there is nothing wrong with it to a certain extent, as a man you should work hard to provide, and expect things in return, but of course you obviously don't want to be squeezed for everything and played like a sucker.
Sounds like Thai women is not worth it for a relationship unless she has own solid fiances, else Filipinas are less risky, still risky, but less.
