    I’m really appreciative of drugstore/lower cost suggestions/recommendations!
    EDIT TO ADD: your tip about gel application is a great help - I tried it and saw a noticeable reduction in frizz and better curl definition! 😀

    I love UFD. I don't use curl cream or leave in with it, just UFD. I have super fine closed cuticle hair, and UFD is my most favorite styling product that I have used yet. I have a lightweight cast after using it and it does fall out later on It also makes my hair very shiny. No glycerin either, which is perfect for the low dew point where I live.

    I have the best curls ever with this gel. I’ve been CG since 2014 and have tried hundreds of products. This is by far the best. I get super defined ringlets that I don’t usually have when I use this.

    I guess products work different for everyone. I find just the opposite works for my very fine hair. Heavier creams and leave-ins work much better for my fine, hi po, med to thick hair. Lighter products just disappear into my hair like I have nothing in it. I love the Curls cream you used but I have not yet tried the UFD gel yet.

    • @NatalieTheRican

      I tried this gel and it did not work for my 3a / 3b hair!! It made my hair greasy and limp!! And my curls fell out the next day!! I was so excited to use this gel, and was so disappointed. :( I’m still trying to make it work!! And I really want to see if I can make it work!! For now I’m just using curly magic and layering it with a strong hold gel, and that’s been working pretty good!!! But I think that’s just because the second gel I’m using is great!!

    I ❤️the UFD! I recently have been practicing with the Denman brush when I have time (weekend wash days) but I can’t use it after applying gel. I apply it with praying hands and scrunching after using the brush - and to get better hold, I mix the UFD with a harder hold gel (Aussie Instant Freeze) 50/50, mixing them in my hands before applying. I then scrunch in a mousse and diffuse before the weight pulls my hair straight - but I’m getting more days out of my washes. Oh! I am also able to leave in a bit of crunch this way so that also helps extend the wash days. I hope this is helpful to someone and I’m not just talking to myself! LOL 😳

  • @annaburns5382
    @annaburns5382 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Usually for my baby fine hair, most products really weight my hair down, but UFD curl stimulator did not do that at all. I was pretty heavy handed with it and as it was drying I had a light cast, but after the cast was scrunched out, my hair felt almost too soft. I think I might need a light gel on top of this. I consider UFD curl stimulator more of a curl custard than a gel. I like it better for my hair than any other product that I have tried.

    • @GenaMarie

    Do you know by chance how the Uncle Funky's compares to Orange Marmalade from Ecoslay? I love OM but since it takes a while to ship, I wouldn't mind having something similar on hand so that when I'm running low I have a back up

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried the Orange Marmalade and it didn't work for me. It was in the summer when I used it, and it evaporated out of my hair as soon as I stepped outside and it frizzed up. It looked like I didn't have anything in my hair. I think the flaxseed is just too strong a humectant for my high porosity hair.
      The Uncle Funky's Daughter is way better in my opinion, but I haven't tried it in the humidity yet. it contains aloe which tends to work better for me since it's a film-forming humectant.

    Hello, new to curly hair. Mine is more wavy than curly but my hair felt super dry and felt like straw. I tried the smoothie cream from Shea moisture and I felt like it did clump my hair up unlike others. I did the curl smith mask and now my hair feels super hydrated I loved it. Now my clumps don’t really form so does that mean I need protein because I haven’t been using anything with protein?

    • @GenaMarie
      @GenaMarie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Shea Moisture smoothie is likely too heavy for your wavy hair unless you’re using a tiny tiny bit diluted with water. Also are you using something for hold on top? A mousse or gel would help hold the curls in place. You can incorporate protein especially if your hair is damaged.
