Have you ever watched the haka at an All Blacks game and noticed the actions don't sync with the words? The ear piece might also have been to hear what the commentator for TV was saying to time the beginning of the piece.
I don't want to get in an argument but if you look at 2.24 the side drummer isn't hitting the skins of his drum! Also The Royal Marines dont have to wear ear pieces when they play! I play in a band and believe me the fingering on the cornets are out of sync.No doubt at the Edinburgh Tattoo they played for real
So why did they all need an ear piece in? That job is for the bloke with the mace! You can hear snare drums and the sticks are inches from the skins! It really isn't that difficult to see and work out. Honest
