@@fredscheerle7592 I get by with it because I have to for the time being, have made several repairs and improvements, for most things it's ok, having only 4 voltage settings is a problem, one is too high, next one too low. When the time is right I'll be getting the Cigweld 185 arc, mig,Tig. When learning to mig weld with a cheap rig I don't have the skills to know if it's me or the limitations of the rig, lesson learnt.
@@SegoMan DRO on my press brake, now that would be something, $50 is affordable, guess would still have to buy magnetic scale, hmm something to think about
Thanks, I'm pretty happy with it, beats bashing the crap out pieces in the vice. I left plenty of gap between the jack beam and the post, so it moves freely, if anything, to minimise movement might try felt slides, maybe. Cheers
Do you think this would bend a 1 inch inside radius, 90 degree's, offset 2 inches from back of plate to tip of angle out of 1/8" thick x 24" x 6" inch plate? I need a plate like that bent down the full length of one side.
I think it would, let's see 1/8 = 3mm no worries, you could make a punch with 1 inch round stock so you can do the bend in one go, you will have to come up with a suitable die, or using my setup the bend will be done in several goes I think, cheers
@@RC-Heli835 you can give it a go, or you might have to get it rolled, if I had a golden goose I would have bought a slip roller from day one, but I don't, cheers
try changing the polarity of the rods. its not the rod that is the problem - its either you or the welder. they are also much better performers if they come out of an oven
Thanks, the welder is good, must be the rods, and a bit of me, the welder is AC, so changing leads around I don't think will make any difference, next time I'll try my new 3 in 1 mig Tig stick with DC rods, cheers
@@whathappensintheshed actually yes it will make a difference. 2/3 of the heat is generated with the positive lead and 1/3 for the earth. A low hydrogen rod can run better with a -ve polarity. Also if the rods have a bit of moisture they will stick hence the oven

Sorry to be a pain in the arse - welding gal is really bad ju ju - it gives off a shitfully toxic by product which Is nerve damaging - for future reference - need to be masked up and outside with stiff breeze - otherwise it is a fantastic bit of work.
Thanks mate, I did grind/sand the gal away where welding, might be a bit hard to see in places, I probably could have taken a bit more off on the end guides, I try not to weld gal as a rule, but,,, sometimes,,,

got the same but older model stick welder! It's great to use after15 years of Mig Welding it's so much easier than I remember.
Yep so basic nothing to go wrong, only dodgy rods, cheers
@@whathappensintheshed I noticed we have same mig as well, hope you're having better run than me, decently over priced for what it is

Nice job mate.
You could install some depth stops for consistent bends when doing repeat breaks like on your cylinder.
That's not a bad idea, next time I will put in adjustable stops both ends, thanks mate.
