  • My British list needed some better air defence, so I bought the Tracked Rapier SAM Section. Join me for a look inside the box as I build this resin and metal kit, and look at how effective this missile system is in Team Yankee.

Great video. It is always a lot of work with those resin/metal models. I don't understand why BF still make these.

i had a lot of the same problems with this kit, when i built and painted this kit for my cousin. the missiles i managed to bend them into being somewhat straight.

Good for you! I trimmed them a bit, but they started to lose their shape so I left them.

but yeah, generally this is properly the worst of all the resin and metal kits. i wish i had figured out, that the hulls where "bend" for a lack of a better term, a lot sooner than i did.

I don't know how many of those you' got or interetsed in getting more. But becase you are now equippted with a 3D-printer it would be interesting to see - from a YT-vier's point - a comparism between these and 3-d printed Tracked Rapier.

That would be an interesting comparison, but lots of things in the print queue before that! Bob Semple, for a start!

Thanks Fog of War, another exceptional video, I found the history particularly interesting as I use these a lot in a computer game I play, Wargame Red Dragon (I highly suggest you check it out, its just like Team Yankee!). I just have a question to the community. I bought a 1/100 Zvezda IS-2 and I was really enjoying building it, unfortunately there was an issue with the tracks coming out the sides of the tank really unevenly, and it was really noticeable and bothered me a lot. My question is whether anyone has experience with Zvezda customer service, and if they would so generously send a replacement to me like Battlefront did.

Hi Brody. Sorry to hear about your malformed track with your Zvezda IS-2. They are a patchy company to deal with - not unhelpful, just difficult to contact. So you should give it a try. It sounds like a short-shot in the injection moulding. It happens occasionally but quality control should catch it. Drop them a like to their customer service email on their website. If you don't have any luck, maybe try their Australian distributor. This contact details are on the Zvezda website too.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, its still been 3 days and no reply. May just have to put up with it or try the Australian distributor.

If only the japanese modelling community was big on wargaming pieces, id swear everything would be plastic !. Anyway good informative vid !

This is true, but all the commander figures would all be school girls and it would transform into a monster truck with wings. :-)

I experienced similar issues with this kit. Probably my least favorite miniature in terms of assembly in a long time and a real embarrassment for BF IMO.

It was a nightmare! This kit was always going to be a challenge in resin & metal, but the misshapen sculpts and other issues could have been avoided. Too bad, because it looks like a "must-have" for protection in a British list.

from my personal experience, and from talking with others. this kit is one of those kits, that if you don´t already dislike working with resin and metal, this kit will make you dread ever working with it again. and its such a shame, since all the other battlefront kits seems to be so high quality. one can only hope that they might re-release it, in a better version in the future. preferably plastic.

There's nothing wrong with resin and metal in general, Battlefront are just shit at casting it

alex kinchin I agree with you

I have had much better resin and metal experiences - even with BF kits. This one was more complex so that was always going to be a challenge, but the misshapen sculpts and at times silly amount of cleanup or metal parts required here could be avoided.

Oh yeah some of BFs resin and metal kits are beautiful and to be fair, their more recent kits have been getting a lot better. But the hit and miss nature of releases makes me think its more down to luck and that they dont really know how to do it properly
