You run like ONE screen all game. Looked like he was using Rocket as a backup during several sequences of the game. McDowell is clearly an explosive player. USE HIM in the offense. Run a slant every now & then. Design rollout plays so Lanorris can have time. I mean he's doing NONE of this. Sorry 2 rant away from your point, but our offense loses 2 the offense of a now fired OC if not 4 our defense.
In fairness to Littrell, he didn't have a lot of options. Our DT's are beasts too. He had to double somebody and use his tight ends to have any chance of protecting the QB for long passes. Do you think the tight ends would have been better used against Tonka Hemingway or Boogie Huntley? Even our back ups on the line are stout. Credit Coach Beamer and Clayton White and the rest of the defensive staff for recruiting and coaching up the best defensive unit that we have had in 40 years, maybe ever.

It’s painful to see the close losses to LSU and Bama, because they came so close. Our guys exercised some demons on OU and if our offense wasn’t so shaky, we could be 6-1, looking at some serious bowl opportunities or a dark horse playoff run. With our defense we’ll have a fighting chance to win out the season. It’s up to our offense to get better, and do their part.
Even if we win out, we’re never making the playoffs. Simply because we’re called South Carolina and not Georgia or Alabama. So that’s off the table. But yeah a good bowl we have a decent shot at

The only game that drove us nuts was Ole Miss. Otherwise we’ve shown we can play with anybody. LSU and Alabama sucked because we made a few bad plays or mistakes that cost the games, but we still looked good in them. Fan base is really high on this team right now.
Looking at the rest of the Gamecocks schedule, it's a brutal run to the end but our defense is good enough to keep us in all of them. Time to finish strong!

The SEC chewed one another up back then and attrition took its toll. I’m seeing the same markers as before except social media is likely to accelerate to notion. Sure there will be good football played in the SEC. Same as before. NIL and social media will hold consequences like never before. Recruiting will change as a result and I don’t think for a second it will benefit any of the SEC teams. As for the Sooners. The Sooner they can remove themselves from this conference the better. The SEC consumes its own offspring with pride and joy.
Except almost all the injuries were during fall camp and/or non-conference play. In fact i think only 1 serious injury has been incurred by conference play. So its' not (necessarily) that the SEC is the issue, at least for the moment.
I'm sure the OU donors and alum won't allow this to happen much longer. I don't expect them to be in this kind of position for very long. I don't know how much you can correct in one off-season, but OU is too historic to just collapse and take years to get back. I'm sure you guys will use this as fuel in the near future. Will be a good game next year in Williams-Brice!

Josh, would love to see a hiring/firing segment given new environmental (NIL, realignment, playoff calendar) and competitive dynamics (loaded B10 and SEC schedules). I just don’t see how schools can continue to shuffle through coaches as it has been. Makes zero sense to me. Who do these places think they’re going to go get? You’re exactly right - the long and short of it is a setback from not backfilling well. A guy like Lebby is hard to replace.
This offense is indiscernible from what you’d see happen if a high school team tried to play D1 teams. No words for how something like this is allowed to happen at this program.
All you need to do is look at Litrell’s time at North Texas as head coach and his play calling there. He had exactly the same struggles with qb’s, one dimensional plays, etc. He was not a good hire for OU from the start, and yes, Venables needs to go out and get someone who is highly competent and creative for their next OC.

Our offense still outscored theirs. Take away the pic six and scoop and score and we still beat OU. When you’re up 21 points why start taking shots? Our offense is nothing to write home about but the only thing it had to do was play conservatively and they still outscored you.

We have devolved into vandy. Honestly Bv should be on the chopping block this year. Yes, the defense has improved and is at least average but he was not here to be DC. I keep hearing excuses from the fans but it’s ultimately his job to make sure this never happens at a place like OU. We have turned into a mockery because he can’t manage the program. Whether it’s NIL, player retention, recruiting, hiring, game management, it all sums up to a failure more often than not. No one wants another rebuild but I’m afraid another season of the same BS will only do more damage.

Brent is gonna get a pass this year. Hes got no involvement with the offense and i think that is ultimately what you would want. OU has an elite defense that has taken years to mold. The offense just needs someone to come in and retool. If they can find themselves with a good offense, you know youll always have one of the best defenses, which is what you need to win. Weve made the mistake of taking brent for granted once before. Dont think theyll make that mistake twice unless it becomes far too gone.

Bill Bedenbaugh and Joe John Finley will hopefully be next. This is the absolute worst Oklahoma Oline i have ever seen. Its as bad as Colorados was last year. Bedenbaugh has to be 100% fired after the End of the Season. The Tight Ends are completley abysmal, unreliable, scared, and the run from guys instead of blocking them. You are a TE you are supposed to be a dawg and want to block someone off the edge. Joe John i hope is let go at seasons end too. Seth Littrell was problem #1 Bill Bedenbaugh and his sorry recruitng are issue #2 Joe john and his sorry recruting and inability to develop is issue #3 If they Portal in some good OL with PROVEN PRODUCTION (norlt 3rd stringers) and at the very minimum 2 explosive receivers that can and WILL go make a play, along with a decent TE. This offense will do a 360

Your QBs were hurrying their throws, and your receivers were scared to catch the ones that hit them in the hands. Arnold threw a lot of short quick passes in the second half to avoid the pass rush. I get that SC has a bad offense, but it still managed to outscore your offense. Hell, ODU scored more on us. Your defense is stout though. Good luck the rest of the season.

Our offense still outscored theirs. Take away the pic six and scoop and score and we still beat OU. When you’re up 21 points why start taking shots? Our offense is nothing to write home about but the only thing it had to do was play conservatively and they still outscored you.
You’re not wrong, but our offense executed well. 21 points on offense with zero turnovers. You can’t ask for much more than that when it’s not necessary.

We have devolved into vandy. Honestly Bv should be on the chopping block this year. Yes, the defense has improved and is at least average but he was not here to be DC. I keep hearing excuses from the fans but it’s ultimately his job to make sure this never happens at a place like OU. We have turned into a mockery because he can’t manage the program. Whether it’s NIL, player retention, recruiting, hiring, game management, it all sums up to a failure more often than not. No one wants another rebuild but I’m afraid another season of the same BS will only do more damage.

Brent is gonna get a pass this year. Hes got no involvement with the offense and i think that is ultimately what you would want. OU has an elite defense that has taken years to mold. The offense just needs someone to come in and retool. If they can find themselves with a good offense, you know youll always have one of the best defenses, which is what you need to win. Weve made the mistake of taking brent for granted once before. Dont think theyll make that mistake twice unless it becomes far too gone.

This is the absolute worst Oklahoma Oline i have ever seen. Its as bad as Colorados was last year. Bedenbaugh has to be 100% fired after the End of the Season.
The Tight Ends are completley abysmal, unreliable, scared, and the run from guys instead of blocking them. You are a TE you are supposed to be a dawg and want to block someone off the edge. Joe John i hope is let go at seasons end too.

Did you watch the game or just take a lot of copium since the game? SC sacked your QB nine times and had 13 TFL's. Your QBs were hurrying their throws, and your receivers were scared to catch the ones that hit them in the hands. Arnold threw a lot of short quick passes in the second half to avoid the pass rush. I get that SC has a bad offense, but it still managed to outscore your offense. Hell, ODU scored more on us. Your defense is stout though. Good luck the rest of the season.
