Being a novice in the watch world as well defining my taste in watches, I find it so refreshing to see folks with some wealth still enjoy the affordable things in life like the average Joe. I recently added a Swatch to my collection and love it.
Great content on all three channels!

I have a Swatch that I got at Expo 86 in Vancouver. It had the sphere that is now Science World on it. I need to see if I can dig it up. I might still have it

Tim I’m sure it’s twice now that you’ve referred to the movement inside the Swatch as “automatic”? As I know you know they are most definitely a quartz movement.

Great to see your Swatch collection Tim. Swatch also, as you may know have a link to cars. They developed the Swatchmobile car. I used to see the prototypes racing around the Biel offices carpark without a body when I worked for Swatch in the 80/90s. Later after working with VW it went on to become the Smart car we have today with Mercedes.

I really enjoy these chilled out watch videos👍. Destination watches are a cool souvenir to remind you of the time you spent there. When I was in Tokyo , I bought a super cheap retro Casio digital watch for about 15€ . I enjoy wearing it a lot, and it reminds me of that evening in Shinjuku every time.

  • @kana4114

Much better on your presentation. The stories behind each piece, you're enthusiasm about how you acquired them and its meaning to you are all excellent. If you would just take a wee bit more time on each piece to pause a moment longer and hold the face of the watch up close to the camera (or bring the camera down to the watch) it would make it perfect. The angle you had the second camera set was good but if you would bring the watch up to the camera so we could enjoy the full affect of the design would be great.
Thanks Tim! This is a fun and interesting side of your collections!

I wonder if you can get a sapphire crystal for it. I wish it was an automatic, considering it is an Omega collaboration. For $250-300, I wish it was an automatic instead of a quartz. Any watch I get with mineral glass or plastic crystals, I swap out to sapphire. All my Hamiltons and Seikos have been switched to sapphire crystals. No matter how careful you are, you get scratches on non-sapphire crystals. It's just aggravating. I've had one Hamilton khaki break the mineral glass crystal 4 times. I switched it out to sapphire and it's been great. Maybe there's some justification for some $5k-10k Rolexes and Omegas having plastic crystals, to keep consistent with the original design. Maybe you can make the argument that you'll be more careful with a watch that costs thousands of dollars and you wouldn't be doing anything where you would scratch it anyways. Maybe you can say that it's easy to polish the scratches out. But I just can't see the sense in any of those arguments. I want sapphire whether it's a watch that costs a few hundred bucks, and especially on a watch that costs a few thousand.
