  • A DETAILED Video Review of the Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas Hotel. This former Mandarin Oriental property was rebranded as the Waldorf Astoria in August 2018, part of the Hilton family of hotels. The Waldorf Astoria Las Vegas has 389 Guest Rooms -- all of them with a soaking tub. Floors 2 - 22 of the hotel are the guest rooms. Floors 24 to 47 are the condos. Room rates vary wildly as is typical for Las Vegas hotels -- you’ll find them for as low as $200, but upwards of $600 on busy weekends or when conventions are in town, or $800 on New Years Eve. We stayed on Dec 29 -- paid rates were $700+ -- we used 80,000 Hilton Points. It's a non-gaming, non-smoking property -- a breathe of fresh air in Vegas.

    I was able to go to the restaurant and Tea Room at the Mandarin. Both great experiences! I might have to stay at the hotel proper sometime. I'm hoping the mattress is as comfortable as the ones at the Aria. Those were the most comfortable I ever slept on, EVER! Vdara is a close second :)

      Not sure about the rooms. The suites have a Ploh down mattress topper which is amazingly supple. I would say the mattress feel is best on strip, even comparing to the high end options (Skylofts, old Hotel32, Nobu, etc). The sheets are nice, but maybe a little scratchier?
      Tea room for afternoon tea is fantastic, we always spend time there. Wish they sold the loose leaf tea from there as gifts...

    Being that this was the Mandarin Oriental just a few months ago, they still have everything Mandarin Oriental in there except the name/logo. That's why there is a Chinese foot spa. Stayed at The Mandarin in Vegas 3 times, and it will be missed, but will try the new rebranded hotel next time I stay in Vegas.

    • @ChamorroZorro
      @ChamorroZorro 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @bl4ckmt4l The Mandarin got everything right. Especially the little things. From the moment you interfaced with the doormen with coats and top hats and they remembered your name the rest of your stay, to the front desk and concierge who went out their way to accommodate you, that hotel was amazing. Even when I had laundry done, the clothes were carefully folded, put in an ornate box, and even the socks had ribbon around them holding the pair together. I passed by the new Waldorf in late November 2018 and I didn't even see doormen.

    • @ShaunyP26

      bl4ckmt4l Yes. I agree. All I meant was that they didn’t change any of the decor or remodel it.

    • @ChamorroZorro
      @ChamorroZorro 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ShaunyP26 One of the highlights that made The Mandarin was the front door crew in long coats and top hats. When I passed by since the change, I didn't even see any staff standing outside to greet cars as they arrived. Those guys even remembered your name if you were a guest there. My wife and I always marveled at how they were able to keep names straight. Our theory was that they had someone watching cameras with the doormen wearing earpieces being told who was there.

We were there and up in the bar, which was empty, enjoying the view, and some Pinkberry Yogurt, followed by a venture to the pool on the eighth floor, where we dipped our feet into the running Jacuzzi, and looked out onto the sights surrounding that area. I always said I wanted to go back and actually stay there after that. I was very impressed. It was so calm and serene. Who knew that only a few hours later, a massive shooting would take place?! @@YellowProductions I for sure thought it was that. A pillow in a box? Maybe if it was laying on top of a shelf in the closet. The box would have been a great way to present the guests with a robe.

    Did you get charged for the bottle of champagne you picked up? Don't they have sensors under those items?

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This minibar had a RFID proximity sensor.. not a weight sensor.. so no.. I didn't

    You do realize that when you picked up the champagne bottle....you just bought it. Hahahahaha

      Turns out this mini-bar was a "proximity sensor" minibar instead of a "pressure sensor" minibar.. I didn't take it out far enough to trigger the purchase... lucky me :)

    $700 a night, are you out of your mind??? Never understood why people pay so much for a place to sleep. I wouldnt pay $200.00 a night. Im so glad i live here and dont have to rent a hotel room. Even when we didnt live here i was staying at flamingo or treasure for $60 a night i mean why do people pay so much to sleep??? Just doesnt make any sense

    • @remyd8767
      @remyd8767 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most people aren't paying $700 a night. You can normally get good deals on Vegas hotels. I normally only go to Vegas when rates are dirt cheap ( like $100 for Venetian)

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're there for New Years Even... even the Flamingo is probably $400 a night!

    Yellow Productions, I have not subscribed to your channel for a lack of professionalism. As much as I want to know about this $500/nt. room, it pains me to watch a guy and his beanie babies review it in their socks.
