- The Ion Mk 20 is a great looking flying wing from 1957, designed by O.F.W. Fisher and English designer and owner of Performance Kits. He was often known as Peter Fisher. The Ion has a 33" wingspan and was originally a free flight model powered by a Frog 80 diesel engine, however in this build it will be converted to 2 channel RC. The original design had elevons, used to give some reflex to the wing and they could be used to adjust the trim. In this build series these elevons will be servor controlled.
The plans for this build are available from Derick Scott at www.model-plan...
The link will takes you directly to where the plan listed, but you need to email the owner of the website, see details on the homepage, to get the plan. He provides a very good service.

I would hide the crease by painting on a window frame, looks great - fab job, well done Mark 👍
Thanks very much, pleased you like it, appreciate the comment
Great job Mark, coming along well, 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks very much appreciate the comment 😀
Nice job mark.👍. I wouldn’t worry about the crease line as it looks to me like a panel line…. 👍
Thanks very much, appreciate the comment, pleased you liked it 😀
Hi Mark. I think the fold line looks OK. 😉👍
Thanks Terry, appreciated 😀
Use black tissue or pin stripping around the frame prior to installation...inside or outside is your call...sweet build❤
Thanks for the comment, pleased you like the build, thanks for the suggestion
Very nice. I struggle with windows. Thanks for the tips. I'll try some of your techniques. Mike
Thanks for the comment, pleased you found it helpful 😀
I agree with the marker since the cockpit is black just run a marker over the seem. It might make it a bit invisible
perhaps a sharpie mark behind the crease Mark?
Invariably, "acetate" sheet is actually PVC (anyone lasercutting beware!).
To get rid of the stress line, just hit it with a small blowtorch from the inside - sounds drastic, but it works - heatgun is too slow. You can mask the line off with tape if you're scared 😊
Thanks for the suggestion, I am keen to try that and see how it goes 😀
Actually they are usually made from PET Polyethylene Terephthalate.
@@DavidHill-so2do Sorry, PVC, I've purchased loads from various vendors on fleabay and the majority are PVC - hence the laser warning (gives off chlorine) - yellow/green flame on burn test 😊
Well, all I can say is that those I have handled were PET, so maybe both are out there. One thing for sure is that they aren't acetate. More is the pity as it was the easiest to use in this application.
I have the answer. I would always buy those so called acetate sheets labelled as laser jet printable and heat resistant, mainly because I would expect the adhesion properties to be better - these sheets are made from PET. If you buy acetate sheets not labelled in this way, they are invariably PVC.
Looks amazing ive just bought the same power plant that you will be using in this but mine is the P.A.W .55 rc version . Just looking for ideas on what rc kit i can put it in 😊
Thanks very much, really pleased you like it. Yes, fantastic engines, run so well
Drawing a line down the crease on the inside with a sharpie would probably look okay but it’s fine as it is really, lovely work.
Thanks very much for the comment, appreciated, really pleased you enjoyed it
I might hace bern tempted to do the canopy in two halves with a thin balsa strut running from top to bottom on tye center line to make it essentialy a left and a right panel, providing a little more front end wright to further aide with the C of G. But lovely wotk and the way you approached this coveting and the canopy has provided plenty of food for thought.
I'm off to vidit Leeds Modrl Shop next week for some clsmps and tools in preparation for my ridiculous Lsncaster plans.and i might just add one of those civering irons to my increasingly long list, but i really need a shed first lol.
I would very much love to know what camera setup you are using? Your audio quality is superb and you serm to be able to get zoomed in and out with conplete focus and ease.
Obviously a skilled craftsman makes any tools look easy and I can imagine how much hard work these videos actually take to produce.
Thank you again for your, frankly first class content.
Cheers
James
Thank you very much for your comment and suggestion greatly appreciated 😀
Did you try using a hot air gun on the acetate crease marks? It's a fine line between removing the crease and burning the plastic though!
Hi, no not something I have tried, thanks for the suggestion, I will have a go on some scrap, for next time 😜
boa tarde, lindo aero, como faço para conseguir esta planta
Thanks for the comment, pleased you like it. Sorry I don't understand the question you are asking
