it slaps.
anywho, I had a lot of fun dabbling in this medium and I wouldn't mind doing it again! I really got to hone my editing skills with this video, and I had a lot of practice with composition and such.
I apologize for how short all my recent videos have been, but I'll be able to work on my lengthier projects once architecture school frees me from its clutches for the summer.
and lemme tell you, folks. those projects are gonna be rad.

This video is absolutely great! Alex was my favourite character from Marble Hornets and this song really fits him in my opinion. The animation and clips are great too, so, since I don't see anybody doing this, I decided to compile a spoilery list of all the references seen in the video.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, now let's go:

Definitely Entry 56, when Alex attacks Tim from behind.

Entry 71, when Alex gives a good portion of the tapes to Jay and then leaves him unconscious.

I feel this is more of a reference to when Alex and Brian were good friends (before the Operator dramatically changed them both) than to a specific entry, but if I have to guess I'd say 12 or 54 or 84.

Unlike the previous one, this is a clear reference to that time that Alex was this close to wipe that stupid smile off Brian's face during Entry 68.

The pages match the ones Tim and Jay found during Entry 72, but the presence of the gun is new. More than a reference to a specific entry I think this is a great representation of Alex's unfortunate descent into madness.

Finally, as expected, the last scenes are from Alex's fight with Tim and the former's subsequent death during Entry 86.
Poor Alex, he only wanted to shoot a mediocre film and save the world from a paranormal plague at the same time, but he only ended up stabbed to the death, hated for being a villain and arguably being the character that suffered the most through all of this, even more than Tim in some cases in my opinion.

Well, just because he's a villain doesn't mean he can't be the most interesting character from the series. It's actually very common to have more interesting villains than heroes in fiction, even if I have nothing against the latters.
Almost all the characters in MH are tragic, but Alex takes the cake for me. One could say Tim was the most affected out of the bunch, but he wasn't really aware of it until season 3, and even then he had Jay's and Jessica's backs. Alex, on the other hand, picked up on it almost immediately and for the longest time he thought he was the cause of the Operator's arrival, blaming himself for bringing this virus into the world and bearing an aggravating guilt upon his shoulders.
Alex may have not worn a mask to indicate the unstable state of mind he was in, but throughout season 1 it is possible to see how that thing leeched on him, changing his personality from a sarcastic yet hopeful filmmaker to a paranoid and aggressive person.
It is speculated that the Operator causes one's key personality traits to overflow; his later killing tendencies came out of his extremized guilt, urging him to remedy to what he thought was on him, even at the cost of his friends', his fiance's and even his own lives; just like Brian's playful attitude led him to become the extreme puppeteer that is Totheark.
I'm not saying that Alex is a good person, not anymore at least, but sometimes I think people just don't see the full picture about him.
Everyone seem to love Tim and Brian, even when they act totally out of their minds, yet Alex is the only one to get bashed for it. He definitely did plenty of horrible things, like killing Jay, but Brian's as much responsible as Alex. In general, there are more similarities between Alex and Brian than people think, as they both tried to stop the Operator in a way that only worsened things, with the difference that Alex was less cryptic about it I guess.
I understand that, being one of the antagonists, it's normal to not root for him, from a storytelling point of view, but why everyone seem to love Brian then?
To conclude, what I'm trying to say with this wall of text is that Alex really gets the short end of the stick out of all the characters in MH, despite us watching during all of season 1 the nightmarish struggle that lead him where he ended up being. Yes, he was distorted (to quote Totheark), but so was basically everybody else.
He really is, in my opinion, a perfect example of a so-called "sympathetic villain", one you feel for but at the same time one you don't want to let your guard down next to.
Okay, but can we appreciate that they got all the outfits right? Like they didn’t just draw Tim in a red flannel, Jay in a brown hoodie, Alex in a striped hoodie and Brian in a yellow hoodie. They actually went through and drew the different outfits from each scene.
