This is regarding welding of 7mm web where it is suggested that a 10 or 11mm weld can be used for 7mm web . My concern is that the point in codes to keep the weld thickness smaller than the thinner plate is due to the heat generated might harm the metal . If it's true then the weld thickness should be smaller than 7mm . Pls elaborate .
