Auto Focus | Head to Head: Mitsubishi Xpander GLS AT Vs. Suzuki Ertiga GLX AT

- In this week’s Head-to-Head, two new MPVs in the market will battle it out on which one is better in every aspect. One of them takes pride in its design and engineering, while the other one boasts its company’s advanced technology features. We’re talking about the Mitsubishi Xpander and the Suzuki Ertiga. Watch this.
We have here the Xpander GLS AT and the Ertiga GLX AT variants.
Let’s start by checking what’s under the hood of our two featured MPVs.
Both the Xpander and the Ertiga are powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC inline-4 diesel engine, which is new with the Ertiga. The difference is in the power and torque figures. While the Xpander gives out a generous 105 PS of power and 141 Nm of torque, the Ertiga produces 103hp and 138 Nm of torque. There’s not much difference.
In addition, both of our two MPVs’ engines here are mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Top it with a suspension setup made of MacPherson with Coil Spring at the front and Torsion Beam at the rear-which goes for the both cars-and they’re ready to be taken on to some urban driving.
The overall look of the Xpander doesn’t come off as basic. The details in the exterior design are well-thought-of. The details that give away a sporty and modern vibes to the Xpander are these sharp lines that go around the vehicle, its Halogen headlamps, and the Dynamic Shield grille. The sides are further highlighted by these 16-inch alloy wheels.
On the other hand, the Ertiga’s exterior looks edgy and elegant at the same time. It features a taller nose and a wide and elegant front grille. The lower roof side extends the head room while providing a more stylish side view. The integrated lower grille and fog lamps add a sense of stability and make the car look edgy. Unlike the Xpander, the Ertiga has 15-inch alloy wheels.
Let’s have a tour inside our two MPVs.
Inside the Xpander, the dashboard would instantly catch your attention. It’s simple yet everything the driver needs is within reach, and it looks elegant. It is further highlighted by the 7-inch touchscreen display that comes with 6 speakers and is available with AM/FM, MP3, AUX, USB, iPOD, Bluetooth and Navigation. As for the seats, they are wrapped in fabric and the leg room is pretty generous as well for a seven-seater MPV.
Meanwhile, hopping inside the Ertiga, one would easily notice that the new steering wheel has a flat bottom for better leg clearance while the gauges are painted with metallic chrome for a sleeker look. The seats have a deep curb with the fabric showing a 3D effect. The third row has more headspace while the seats are designed with a reclining and tilt-down mechanism up to 16 degrees. For a seven-seater like the Xpander, the Ertiga also provides convenient seating.
For the infotainment system, the Ertiga comes a touchscreen display that’s available in AM/FM, MP3, AUX, USB, iPOD, Bluetooth and Navigation. Sound is enjoyable courtesy of four speakers.
Moreover, the Ertiga comes equipped with Suzuki’s new generation platform, the HEARTECT, which effectively disperses impact energy to improve safety while reducing noise and vibration. Another feature that highlights the Ertiga’s capabilities is Total Effective Control Technology, which scatters collision energy across the vehicle frame to mitigate damage to the car and passengers.
Both of these two MPVs provide comfort and convenience-design-wise. But the Ertiga has more advanced features that cater to your needs compared to the Xpander.
When it comes to safety and security, both the Xpander and the Ertiga are equipped with the needed features including Central Locking, Anti-Lock Braking System, and airbags, among others.
Two cars that don’t spell “newcomers” at all as both of them have proven that they have mastered the innovation game in the local auto industry. Those were the Mitsubishi Xpander and the Suzuki Ertiga. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
Just bought my 2020 glx ertiga 2 weeks ago , ganda talaga ng performance super silent sa loob ng sasakyan very smooth sa daan madaling lumamig ng aircon.
I am an Xpander owner and a first time A/T driver since I have always been driving Manual cars (Mitsubishi Lancer 97 and Hyundai Accent 2012). Owned my Lancer in 2005, Mom gave it as a gift, though 2nd hand, wala akong masabing pangit sa performance except this one time na kumatok na ang makina in 2011 and I had it fixed sa kilala naming mechanic and his cousin bought the Lancer that was the reason why I was able to buy a brand new Accent from Hyundai. Mabagal lumamig ang a/c ng Accent I should say pero once lumamig, okay naman sya. Lagi ko lang nagiging issue ang Freon ng Accent ko. Then late 2019 I was able to switch to Xpander. Sobrang cool ng style and ang daling imaneho but if only I was aware of this new design and looks of Ertiga, siguro itong 2020 Ertiga ang binili ko. Xpander's base variant is at P1,008,000.00 while the top of the line is almost at P1.2M. Yung top variant ng Ertiga would only cost P978,000.00 if I am not mistaken.
Ang saya ng 3rd row seat ng ertiga. Kahit cguro 8 hrs straight travel kaya ko mag stay very comfortable.

Ertiga looks better..simple but appealing also the price is lower than xpander. Very nice Suzuki

Expander sana boss kukunin ko pero marami nag sasabi na mas ok ang ertiga bukod sa mura same lang ng quality.

I owned Xpander Di ko ramdam maliban nalang sa crosswinds pero yung nginig diko ramdam lalo na sa tplex nlex. dipende rin kasi sa road condition yan

Sir, mine kasi.was bought cash. I suggest you visit banks muna and ask their prevailing rate then compare to inhouse car dealer. Please do not be inhurry check where you think could save your money and of course payment mode.
Maruti Suzuki yung ibinibenta dito sa PH. Maganda sya in terms of practicality at reliability kasi tested and proven na yung platform first sa India palang.

Kamustahin ko lang sama musta akyatan sa manual tranny ng suzuki ertiga like baguio.
Pang 80's ang tanong na yan. Kahit yun 1.0 liter engine nakakaakyat na ng baguio. Modern engine design na kasi ngayon - electronic fuel injections at hindi na carburetors, 24 or 16 valves from 8 valves, less kerb weight (better power to weight ratio), turbo injected, etc.
Thank you po.sa sagot, sensya na po kaya ko.lang naman natanong kahit kasi modern engine since may computer box na.minsan pag tinapakan mo lalo a.sa akyatan na na naka bitin ay delayed ng 1 to 2 seconds compared sa.carburador. Thank you ulit.
@@ryanbelmonte6624 mas may "kick" talaga ang carburator kesa sa fuel injection pero agad nawawala sa adjustment ang carburators.
I just bought 2019 ertiga- black edition and all.I can say she is the best. Drove it to baguio from pampangaand.didnt experience any problem even on top hill. Kudos to Suzuki club Ertiga!😄

We have a suzuki ertiga and it is soo comfortable and cheap and the ertiga has 8 seating capacity while the xpander is 7 so I think I prefer Ertiga just my opinion
