In theaters May 16, 2014.
In Summer 2014, the world's most revered monster is reborn as Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures unleash the epic action adventure "Godzilla." From visionary new director Gareth Edwards ("Monsters") comes a powerful story of human courage and reconciliation in the face of titanic forces of nature, when the awe-inspiring Godzilla rises to restore balance as humanity stands defenseless.
Gareth Edwards directs "Godzilla," which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Kick-Ass"), Oscar® nominee Ken Watanabe ("The Last Samurai," "Inception"), Elizabeth Olsen ("Martha Marcy May Marlene"), Oscar® winner Juliette Binoche ("The English Patient," "Cosmopolis"), and Sally Hawkins ("Blue Jasmine"), with Oscar® nominee David Strathairn ("Good Night, and Good Luck.," "The Bourne Legacy") and Bryan Cranston ("Argo," TV's "Breaking Bad"). - บันเทิง
Godzilla 2014 trailer: *creepy music*
Godzilla vs Kong trailer: *rap music*
True 😂
Godzilla King Of The Monster: More like Clash Of the Titans with beautiful music
Warner Bros is most likely just trying to hype and appeal the audience more by giving rap music because this is a movie of two pop culture icon facing off after more than 50 years.
@@zed6740 agreed. The trailer songs were chosen to fit the tone more. 2014 is a darker movie about the return of Godzilla and the unleashing of other Kaiju. Kong vs Zilla is more about an all out fight between like you said 2 pop culture icon's so it makes sense to pick a song the gets you pumped up
@@caseymiller8410 Exactly my dude, couldn't put it better myself.
As much as I love this movie, this trailer was something else, you’d think it was a horror movie
Godzilla 2014 aims for a serious and grim take so yes. It's a horror movie.
It is a horror movie
Indeed, as much as I loved the end product I really wish Gareth was able to keep his original vision without WB’s interference with the final product
I wish the movie had this tone to it, enstead of a PG-13 rating, I wanted a rated R.
@@johncarlofernandez2698 it's not a horror movie it's just a natural disaster movie but with kaiju. There's nothing scary about it when it specifically aims for the action genre of cinema. Compare this to a quiet place. One movie is a action movie. The other is a legitimate thriller/horror
Probably one of the most effective trailers in film history. Keeps the audience on their toes, never reveals anything about the plot, and saves the best reveal for the last split-second. Oh and the sound design, and music choice were also top choice!
i'd put Man of Steel and the Halloween 2018 trailer up with this as the best. fantastic
Same choir from 2001 a space odyssey
I feel like this movie would've been immensely better if the tone was more like Shin and the original in that Humanity was solely fighting him instead of involving the MUTO's and making him a "hero" as he crushes and kills people.
The Trailer certainly oozes this.
@@Armageist 100% agree with you. One of my biggest and only problems with Godzilla 2014 is that the MUTOs received too much screentime. They probably had more than Godzilla himself. If they took them out of the movie and brought Godzilla back to his original roots as a giant, unstoppable, rampaging monster, then the 2014 film would probably be one of the greatest in the entire franchise.
@@mach7te I feel you homies on that, but I don't wanna see a copy of Gojira--it's a deeply-moving film about a family as well as the secrets that are tearing it apart. Shin Godzilla worked because it wasn't that, it was a scathing political satire. Besides, Godzilla was giant & unstoppable in this movie, they just made him more of an animal than a monster, which hadn't been done that much at the time.
THAT is how you do a teaser trailer. You reveal zero spoilers, keep the big shots hidden and do just enough to peak your interest. Absolute gem of a trailer.
I’m going to take a wild guess and assume that you didn’t like the actual movie itself, right?

One of the best trailers of all time. Actually gives you chills.
This and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Best of 2014. A teaser trailer is perfection when there's a slow build-up to the ICONIC element of the franchise (Godzilla's roar, the apes attacking, etc.). *CHILLS*
This trailer and Avengers: Age of ultron are the bests for me.
This teaser and the Watchmen trailer are probably my two favorite trailers of all time.
No kidding eh
while the trailer is masterclass amazing, the actual movie was kind of disappointing :( they could've done so much better
Happy 10 year anniversary of this trailer!!

I remember sitting in theaters and this trailer came on and I had no clue a new Godzilla was in the works, and this trailer was so interesting from the start, and then at the end when it shows Godzilla with that iconic roar, instant chills.
That's how I felt with a random TH-cam ad. I was like what is this.. and then the reveal sent me flying smh 🤦🏽♂️🔥

I remember being so against a new American Godzilla movie because I was so in love with the original Japanese movies. Then this trailer came out and the roar at the end sent the biggest chill down my spine ever. I have never had a movie trailer come close to making me feel the way this did.
Agreed. Too bad the movie sucked so hard. Americans just can’t do Godzilla right.
@@paulmercury5182 bro it was great how did it suck? It showed how the world reacted to Godzilla
@@paulmercury5182 objectively this movie was far from awful. It was fucking great
Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End trailer made me feel that way lol when you see Captain Jack and Davy Jones fighting on the mast with the swords lining up with the music.
@@paulmercury5182bro the original Japanese movies made Godzilla so goofy, he had a whole family and was dancing

SpeedOverMe the trailer was better than the film
2014 had a suspense vibe.
2019 is straight up apocalyptic
Trust dat.
Also 2014 had a realistic tone to it. Yes it's a giant monster movie so there's not much room for realism, but hear me out 2014 has a more realistic vibe whereas 2019 with alien Ghidorah, underwater basses and whatnot it makes it feel more like a straight up sci-fi kaiju movie. you know what I mean?
@@JurassicYeti I see what you mean.
JurassicYeti 2019 definitely went all out far too soon. Coming off of its relatively grounded predecessor, it was kind of jarring how Showa-esque it was. If they wanted it to be so much more outlandish, they should have built up to it a bit more.
Nick To be fair 2014 was directed GT Gareth Edwards. He was also known for Monsters(2010) which was a phenomenal film!
I’m not over exaggerating or fanboying, but this is what be of the most beautiful and amazing teasers of all time. This has to be on the top 10
I see ya
This trailer literally had me kinda scared and nervous watching it. It felt like true horror. The music, the suspenseful jump in, the beginning when he’s telling them they’re going in on a halo jump. This trailer was amazing
Godzilla Minus One and Shin Godzilla were the types of movie I thought this trailer was going to be.
@gmwarriorx I mean it was by far the best mv movie so it was close
Parachutist : "I knew I should have listen to my father and became a librarian"

Doesn't matter, the library will get stomped on by Godzilla anyway

Americans attacked by Godzilla: The horror! The horror!
People in Tokyo: Bitch, please.
That actually wouldn't surprise me. They get attack by Godzilla and bunch of other monsters on a daily basis but America has only been attacked once by some cheap imitation and even the babies only lasted for like an hour and Godzilla(1998) got taken down by two or four rockets when earlier he survived two submarine missiles.
This makes me wanna watch the movie again.

Can we all just admire how flawless this teaser is?
It hits all the right notes keeping you enticed without spoiling anything, it always invokes a haunting feeling inside of you, it still sticks with you if you were lucky enough to see it back in 2013 - it's everything that makes a teaser an ACTUAL TEASER. The movie itself has some faults, but this teaser is the definition of perfection - and it doesn't leave anything out from the final product.
New Godzilla fans are currently living in an incredible time.
I was in high school at the time. The trailer dropped during lunch, and I spent the whole period at the library in a quiet corner watching this video on loop. The leadup to this movie was probably the most I've ever been hyped about a movie, more so than future movies like Infinity War and Endgame.
Looking back all these years later, this is still one of the best trailers ever. When I saw this trailer for the first time in the theater, I had no idea what it was and the feeling of realization as soon as I saw the spikes through the smoke was chilling
The halo jump has got to be the most brilliant reveal of a monster Ive ever seen. Pure genius
I still get shivers 10 years later. I will never forget this trailer.
I cannot believe Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and this film are in the same movie series
Fr the new ones look like kids movies😂
@@hehehehaw8346shut up you elitist
Godzilla vs Kong I can still enjoy minus a few details but yeah The New Empire just threw away any attempt at seeming even remotely realistic
Almost like Cloverfield, that's what I'm getting the sense for. But this movie seems so cool, can't wait to see this!
Godzilla has been around since 1954, good sir, so Cloverfield was a lot like Godzilla.
Think of this as a rebirth, like the new Star Trek franchise.
Jason Colbeck I know that but Godzilla never looked like THIS until this trailer came out. A lot more dramatic than the old Japanese movies.
***** That movie...it NEVER fucking happened...m'kay?
correct, that movie never fucking happened.
*****
That movie does not exist.
For those who don't know what a halo jump I'll explain. Ok usually when you are about to go into battle like a major battle if you saw the smoke that means that major is about to happen also High-altitude military parachuting (or military free fall (MFF)) is a method of delivering personnel, equipment, and supplies from a transport aircraft at a high altitude via free-fall parachute insertion. Two techniques are used: HALO (high altitude - low opening) and HAHO (high altitude - high opening).
In the HALO technique, the parachutist opens his parachute at a low altitude after free-falling for a period of time, while in the HAHO technique, the parachutist opens his parachute at a high altitude just a few seconds after jumping from the aircraft. HALO techniques date back to 1960 when the U.S. Air Force was conducting experiments that followed earlier work by Colonel John Stapp in the late 1940s[1] through early 1950s on survivability factors for high-flying pilots needing to eject at high altitudes. In recent years, the HALO technique has been practiced by civilians as a form of skydiving. HALO is used for delivering equipment, supplies, or personnel, while HAHO is generally used only for personnel.
In typical HALO/HAHO insertions, the troops are dispatched from altitudes between 15,000 feet (4,600 m) and 35,000 feet (11,000 m).[
Thank you for explaining these concepts and THANK YOU for the adequate grammar :-P Unless it was all copied & pasted :-O
It's crazy that we've now got the Godzilla Vs Kong trailer and it all started by this movie. Screw the critics, they don't know what a monster movie looks like!
Critics actually gave this movie good reviews. It was the audience that didn’t enjoy this one as much as they did the 2019 sequel.
@@SundevilRoadrunner is it weird when I actually enjoyed this movie more than Kotm?
@Bloody Pulp you want the movie about a giant ape and a giant lizard to be serious? 2014s Godzilla hid the star of the movie...GODZILLA.
Critics and fans did like this movie, it was good. It's the abhorrent sequel almost everybody disliked
@Bloody Pulp okay so why the hell are you here?? If you don't like MonsterVerse the best you can do is shut up
I remember watching this over and over when it first came out, trying to piece together what little info I could. Being awestruck by the sheer scale of Godzilla, being so huge the camera couldn't fit all of him on screen. 9 years later and this still holds up.
I can see why they chose this scene for the teaser, it remains one of the best in the movie (a reboot done right in my opinion). Not only does it use the "aria" from Kubrick's 2001 (used both times to signify humans being made to feel crushingly small in the face of the unknown) but the metaphorical imagery is amazing. Kick-Ass looks into the sun as if it were the eye of God itself, then willingly dives out of Heaven into the depths of Hell. They are Guardian Angels sent to do battle with Leviathan, and from the looks of Godzilla at the end, they are completely fucking outmatched...
I know that's pretty awesome. How do you pick up on all of that? Lol
You are amazing's.✈
Still one of the most beautiful trailers ever. That parachute scene is art.
Damn its hard to believe that it has now been seven years since this trailer came out.
My mom was a huge Godzilla fan. I was going to take her to see this but unfortunately she passed the month before. I know she was with me when I saw it on behalf of her
Sorry man, rip

Dat roar at the end doh.
1:18 he's not running from the danger...he is the danger
In 2013, I was sitting on the third row of my theater. My dad, my two older brothers, and I were all waiting for the Man of Steel movie we'd gone out to see to start playing. We had arrived early to see the trailers...and that's when this masterpiece played. I was, and still am a huge Godzilla fan, but at the time, I had assumed the franchise was gone forever, with Final Wars being the last movie to be released...and I was okay with that. The series had gone out with a bang, so it was natural there wouldn't be anymore after that.
...And when I tell you that I was SHOOK when I saw this in the dark cinema for the first time, that would be an understatement. I will never forget the sheer and sudden amount of adrenaline induced hype and excitement I felt when I heard that roar at the end...
It felt like a king had returned.
I watched it when I was 8. Prob the best and worse decision I made for a movie. Had nightmares for several days but worth it
It's almost been 10 years but this teaser still gives me that very same thrilling vive, specially that Ending ROAR !!!
2:03 waiting for that moment 16 years ...
SO happy they used the classic roar! Also---I might be wrong---but right before Godzilla roars in this trailer, from 2:01-2:03 there is another original sound...was that...Mothra????? I am going off childhood memories, so I am not sure if I am assigning the right sound to the right memory.
No it's just the epic music or sounds they are using....I'm a die hard fan so I'm weird enough to tell lol
Mothra might be in ti from some of the pictures they put out show giant holes in the ground and i think one of them translated to giant worm hole so that might be a wink at it
I'm going to be honest...I think it may be. wadafefe is right.
I want Fire Rodan in this movie!!!
The classic roar had more 'oempf' to it, this one they changed a bit.. but it's close enough.. nothing like emmerich did to screw it up.. hope they are going to go with the indistructable Godzilla, like it suppost to be instead of one that can be traped it on a bridge, or can be blown up with nuclear missles... plus am i the only one that sees that movies have the same fibe / feel to it these days? like dark knight / that lates star trek movie, and now this .. one shot in this trailer had the star trek poster even in it! at 1:43
I am a life long Godzilla fan and this trailer gave me chills back when it was new. Even now it really does a good job of pulling you in. That music used from the Monolith in 2001 is always unnerving. And that long jump right at the start, then piercing the clouds into a ruined city, all while you think, "What could have done this?!" Then that final silhouette to really sinch the whole thing together. I mean we had no idea at this point if Godzilla was humanity's ally or enemy.
Man, it all started here...

Movie was perfect. I know this sounds crazy but glad they barely showed godzilla throughout the whole movie. Made him feel more mysterious and bad ass. Kinda like the jaws anticipation. Don't see how they could have made this any better. Not a bad reboot.
Same with the original. In 1954, he was a dark, shadowy predator, killing in the darkness and laying the entire city to waste. While 1954 did it better, this movie still follows the precedent.
Fuck who ever played the main lead, not Bryan Cranston, but that other bastard.

People are complaining that the trailer didn't represent the film very well... You sure you didn't watch a completely different movie? There were so many scenes in the movie which were full of awe or were terrifying since we got it from the point of view of the people. Do you not remember how eerie it was seeing Godzilla emerge from a cloud of smoke, and you see his silhouette when lighting strikes, or how about the scene where his foot crashes down in the airport which made everyone turn silent. I loved this movie, it became my favourite movie as soon as i saw it, and it still is today.
Amen my brother!
you are right! the cinematography was excellent!! BUT where I believe it failed was in the story telling. I really was looking forward to more of the discussions of the arrogance of man as was shown in one of the trailers. jurassic park handled those topics very well and added much depth to the story and action. a sense of uneasy realism that seeps into our minds despite dinosaurs or godzilla not existing.

The part from 1:46 to 2:05 always gives me chills; it makes Godzilla feel so much more like an overwhelming force of nature. The trailer gave a much different feel from the actual movie, though. I was expecting something vastly different. I suppose the point of a trailer is to ultimately get people into the theaters to watch it, but then doesn't that mean the studio didn't think people would be excited about the actual film and decided to feed them something else?

nerdsman567 What were you expecting? Godzilla destroying man kind? He doesn't do that, he fights other monsters...I loved it. I would have liked a little more screen time for Godzilla, but I understand why they didn't, less is more. They'll correct that mistake in the second movie. Honestly, it was weird they killed off Brian Cranston's character. I feel if he was the main human character and Godzilla had a little more screen time...this would have been considered the best Godzilla movie to date.
DaveyMurray1 You know what? I'm getting really goddamn tired of people defending this movie with the whole "Less is More" bullshit! I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but the fact that fans have to act so forgiving with this movie has been irritating me ever since this movie first came out! And every time I try to give the film the benefit of the doubt, I'm constantly reminded about its flaws and that it's not as good as it could have been. It's times like that that make me regret ever getting hyped for this movie in the first place.
I find it amazing how even though Godzilla 2014 addressed all the problems established with Godzilla 1998, it still manages to conjure up new problems for people to harp on. I feel as if the people who made G2014 only cared about planning for the future sequels rather than being concerned about the film right in front of their faces. All I can say is, "Godzilla 2018" better be worth the goddamn wait or else I will absolutely HATE Gareth Edwards and Legendary Pictures for the rest of my life; even more so than Roland Emmerich!
I'm so sorry for lashing out like this, but this movie has left me very frustrated for over a year now. I feel as if Hollywood doesn't give two shits about Godzilla franchise and that its fans are completely worthless. I have never had a movie make me feel so worthless and embarrassed to be a fan in my entire life. I keep wishing and praying that Legendary will come out with the "Extended Cut" for G2014 they supposedly announced shortly after the film's release, but no news has come up about it. It feels like they really don't care about catering to the Godzilla fan community. We're all completely worthless in Hollywood's eyes :(
nerdsman567 at least this Godzilla is better than the lizard one from 1998, it has some attacks from japanese Godzilla like Tail Attack and the athomic breath that 1998 Godzilla doesn't have, japanese Godzilla had less time in Terror of MechaGodzilla where he appeared just to face MechaGodzilla and Titanossaurus and leave after defeating them, the Godzilla 2014 was inspired on Terror of MechaGodzilla, I think
Judging by the leaked trailers Godzilla was meant too be a destroyer attacking a city and eventually fighting a monster this concept was obviously changed:
Finally someone did it right. The last Godzilla movie in 2000 was a flop
And yet I've seen it the 15 times that it's been on tv. Godzilla is Godzilla :D
***** Box office grossings doesn't mean that the movie was any good. Just means is marketed correctly and many people saw it before realizing, "Wait...this movie is shit."
I watched them all as a kid. **Its about time!!!!!**
I can't wait to see this..I watched all the movies in the past. This FU-*cking ROCKS!!! Great trailer!!! Thumbs up if you LOVE GODZILLA!!!!
Don't you mean 1998?
It still gives me chills after all these years. I wish that scene was in yet actual movie.
Agreed. The halo jump with the speech is the best.
This was the trailer that broke trailers for me. This trailer is so much more impactful and artistic than the actual movie, which is such a different tone than this presents. I never watch the film itself, but I'll watch this often and dream about what might have been.
Kong: Skull Island is a prequel to Godzilla (2014). We're getting a unified MonsterVerse with two movies in 2019 and 2020 with 2020 being Godzilla vs. Kong.
Yeah, it's such terrible bullshit. Hopefully it fails completely and we don't have to see any more of this automatically-bad "Godzilla vs." trash. All good Godzilla movies have one, and only one, giant monster in them: Godzilla. For every additional giant monster you add to a Godzilla movie, the movie gets worse.
Mega Zeta What the fuck are you talking about?
TF_ Pilot shut up
Hah! Too bad it's 2021 for Godzilla vs Kong cause of this pandemic
my god that roar at the end sent chills down my spine. From what little bit we see, it actually looks like Godzilla. they have nailed half of it. now as long as they don't kill off Godzilla, we have a successful movie. (i don't care about the story. it's a godzilla movie. he shows up, blows shit up, then leaves. story written.)
Well, they kill Godzilla in the original Japanese movie. I don't mind if he is killed, as long as it is not in the half-baked and dissapointing way that Zilla died. I mean, a bunch of jets firing at him is enough to snuff Godzilla, the same one that tanks such attacks all the time without so much as even tickling him in the Japanese films, really?
This trailer was the beginning of the MONSTER-VERSE. I am so glad to be part of it and can't wait to see the future of MVCU
One of the greatest teasers of all time. Still gives me chills 9 years later
