The thing that they're forgeting in this conversation is that Jesus played second fiddle to Aguero for years! And wasn't even a regular starter when Aguero was injured. It's one thing to be extremely tactically astute, but if you have a very good striker who is fit and you keep playing a false 9 and worse a false 9 with a LB who did not train for it, that situation is rather humiliating. And frankly, it left people like me feeling like he was less than average. His move toArsenal made me realize how good he is.
He is great around below great players and looks average around great players. racing a bmw against a ford will make the bmw looks great but when placed against a mercedes then bmw doesnt look all that great anymore and in this case, jesus was a bmw racing against ferraris !!!
Bernado was a false 9 in that game. The manager holds ultimate rights to squad selection. That's Pep style, but I hate him when he drops the players after playing well in the previous game. Mahrez dropped from the team after a solid FA Cup game. I'll give benefits of doubts to Pep at this point because he knows how to bring the best out of any player. Man City is Juggernaut, and everybody in this squad fights for a place. The more versatile you play, the more chances get game time.
The point of the story is not that Jesus got dropped for a big game (or that he cried and called his mother) but that Pep was unpredictable in strange ways that made it difficult for some players and that’s why he wanted to leave.
That is your take? Interesting. Have you ever coached at an elite level? NBA? NFL? Premier League? MLB? Just, curious? Jesus basically said he would rather go somewhere where it's easier to find playing time than compete at the highest level. We were bringing in Julian Alvarez, we signed him in the winter for 14.1 and it was looking like we were getting Haaland. Jesus saw the writing on the wall. This is kinda sad on his end and shows his character.
Doesn’t matter, theirs a reason why he’s called the best manager in the world. It’s not up to the players to judge whether he made the right decision or not, you play how the coach wants you to play whether you think he’s right or not. It’s not difficult for the players to play under pep, their just not good enough to play under pep. If it was the other way around imagine how many others would’ve left if they felt the same way, instead they played better, performed much better in training so they could gain peps favor it’s just how it is. Tons of coaches are like that. Pep does what he does and wins and that’s all that matters is winning. If your gonna cry about playing time then go to the other divisions were your guaranteed to start if that’s what you really care about. The reason he was dropped was because he didn’t play the way pep wanted and that’s always been the case in all the teams he’s coached.
Gabriel Jesus: I left cause Pep dropped me because of squad rotation and testing (technically) ESPN:Gabriel Jesus left Man City cause Guardiola made him cry
Y’all being sensitive asl. Bro was clearly not pleased with Guardiola’s coaching style and that’s OK. I get it, you fanboy the great pep but not everyone will like him.
Yep you're living on a different planet if you think you're guaranteed a spot in the starting IX in a pep team after scoring or assisting in the previous game you played in. Squad rotation is one of the pieces to his success, Mahrez dropped a hattrick in the FA cup semis and was on the bench in the Final 💀. I guess Mahrez cried an entire lake after that game
The match was played in November 21. What Jesus doesn't say is he got more minutes in the league in the first half of the 21/22 season than KDB, Grealish, Sterling, Foden, Mahrez and Gundogan and started all the Big 6 games. Only Bernardo had more minutes and simply Jesus was bang in favour at that time but rotated for the PSG game. Something about nothing although obviously upset him at the time.
Pep has dropped KDB, Gundo, Walker, Stones etc in big matches and strangely. A squad has over 20 players and only 11 can start. A manager wants to always win a match and he goes with the best tactic he can think of. If you want to go to a team with starting 11 guaranteed, that’s a bad move.
Bro, if your team doesn't have striker, you're the only one there, and your manager decides to play a left back in your position is a lot deeper than kdb resting and barnardo Silva playing instead 😂 Stop trying to make it like its the same thing.
@@J040PL7Yeah but that's false. A left back never played in that striker position. Bernardo Silva played in the false 9 role whilst zinchenko played in midfield (his original position) Jesus as a striker is somewhat unreliable as he isn't clinical.
@@J040PL7 Lol, has Zinchenko ever played as a false 9? Walker and Gomes are the only fullbacks in the team but none of them started in the CL final. He went with CB’s. Mahrez a winger is dropped for Bernado. Last CL final they played, both CDM’s dropped for Gundo and Bernado. We’ve even seen Bernado played LB this season. And what Jesus is talking about, it was Bernado playing as false 9 and Zinchenko in midfield. So i understand players want to start these big matches, but we’ve seen it many times with Pep. He always goes for the unexpected, hence his success. So many could’ve given up like Jesus, e.g Stones, Walker, Gundo , Mahrez etc. Mahrez was dropped after a hattrick. But those who persevered especially Stones, ripped the benefits. Look at his performances this season and how he’s loved by the fans. Players should learn to respect each other more. When ever you start, someone else is dropped. I understand the wanting to always start attitude, but express that when you’re on the pitch not outside. Make yourself un droppable. Rodric did this season, Haaland, even Akanji and Ake to an extend.
I honestly dont remember who played as a false 9. It is funny how you guys claim to remember better than the guy who was there. However, That is not the point. It does not matter. The point is Jesus was not replaced by a striker, and he was the only one available. More importantly those changes were improvised (not trained the week before). At the Second half, he replaced ZINCHENKO, because that crazy idea did not work and won Man city the game. He was amazing. After ALL that, he was still benched the next game. Pep is a Clown in Man management.
@@FredEPLk What are you on about lol. Man city absolutely dominated PSG in that game when jesus wasn't on the field. Yes they were unable to score because they missed a lot of chances. That was litereally City's best performance in a champions league game up till they thrashed madrid this year.
Pep guardiola is not the type of manager who want to win, he want to win with the way he want to see, maybe that is the reason he is the best manager in modern era
Ask Zlatan and Etoo what they feel about Pep too. 😅 To be fair there arent many if any elite managers that keep every single player happy. Also players cry all the time. If thats the topic for Don or anyone else, its a silly idea to insist that they shouldnt. For winning, for feeling mistreated, for retiring...it happens regularly.
@@J040PL7Yeah cause pep likes to have that extra body in midfield. That works well in a false 9 system. Haaland wouldn't have to worry as since his introduction, the false 9 system hasn't been used (when he plays)
Mentality of elite coaches! Doesn't matter what the public sees but as long as you dont fit their plans, you get dropped. The best example Mata under Mou who was the best player at chelsea the previous season before Mourinho came in a dropped on the bench.
Right! It’s ridiculous that people are taking the side of a player to pep who just won the treble…. Every loss arsenal had this past season it looked like he wanted to cry
@@Citycityyy But one big factor in last seasons success is Guardiolas CONSISTENCY. We could have won 2 other CLs had it not been for his tinkering. I would never blame GJ for our previous CL losses....its all on Pep.

Him and Sterling were very wasteful numbers say otherwise they should both have way more goals than they already have bar Kevin de bruyne most players that walk from pep get exposed
first thought that came to mind. like this isn't some obscure match we all didnt watch, no way Zinny ever played false nine at city and certainly not in a high profile match against psg in the champions. i think that would have been talked about ad nauseam at the time.

I love Pep Guardiola and he’s the second greatest manager in the world for me but I am with Craig here. As good as he is, he’s a human being and bound to mistakes and we can agree that Manchester City have been knocked out of champions league in recent years because of Pep changing formations and tactics. He won a treble because he was consistent with his starting line up and tactics last season.
Why did u add "2nd greatest manager"?? I bet u add that in every comment and tell urself that everytime when you are alone just not to admit that he's THE GOAT and sentimentally think SAF is the goat 😂
@@eL--RaLHaha it’s funny you mentioned Sir Alex Ferguson and I had a feeling that many people will be thinking that I am referring to SAF as the greatest manager 😂. SAF is not even on my top 4. For me there would never be any manager whose impact on football will be greater than Johan Cruyff. Johan Cruyff is my Goat in managers and Pep agrees with me 😅
Zinchenko isn’t really a LB though… he only was because Pep turned him into that… he played the majority of his life as an attacking midfielder It wasn’t THAT radical tbf
but how was he right though? not starting an argument yeah, just discussion. He gambled on putting a LB as ST, backfired, and he lost the finals to Chelsea as well that year. This year they're magnificent, he's got Haaland as the focal point, but the goals and cups just keeps coming, he didn't chop and change too much

They are geniuses - I hope you do see them as such - not because they never failed (they had more failures than successes) but rather because they were NEVER bound by dogma or limit themselves to what people believed to be the right way or the only way. It took John stones several seasons to get regular mins. he was getting started over insane names and was told to get out the club by many fans. he stayed and fought for his position. he didn’t cry or complain about it. fast forward a few years and he became a regular and key starter for a treble winning team. people don’t realize that they play for PEP. pep only wants the best on his team and would not hesitate to drop you if you don’t fit the plan.
True and city did better without Jesus. He should have scored 40 goals a season and he would have been starting every game. Jesus had every opportunity to be a UCL winner but he was too much of a baby
@@aldriquesjacobs892 the crazy thing is jesus had plenty of chances to prove himself and even a fit and legendary AGUERO was holding bench because of him. Jesus was given the keys and dropped it. Just because John Stones didn't cry about it doesn't make Jesus not entitled to. They come from different backgrounds and economic situations back home, so all of that to some degree factors in to the way they felt they got treated and their response to it. Pep is entitled to drop Jesus (although personally felt Pep could've handled it better) and Jesus is entitled to drop a transfer request and feel emotionally what he has to feel.
@@adisanil he can definitely feel a way but that’s how the club and any club works. if you aren’t reliable then you won’t be first choice. he had time to prove himself and didn’t deliver. joining city favored him a lot and he wouldn’t be half the player without pep’s coaching. he costed them in ucl games, wasted kdb’s passes, and was very inconsistent. haaland did more this season than Jesus’ whole city career and helped win the ucl for them
Jesus was wrong in his memory, Zinchenko played CM and Bernardo played CF. They went 1-0 down so Bernardo dropped back to CM and Zinchenko came off for Jesus. I think it was just the final straw though. He was clearly already fed up. He's given other interviews talking about how he wasn't happy at City because of Guardiola's rotation policy, that he could score 2 goals and still get dropped the next game. Pep's story is probably going to be that he didnt think Jesus wasn't good enough. There was also this feeling that when Jesus was on the pitch and City needed big goal, he was not a clinical enough finisher to score it. He never lived up to the potential of pushing Aguero out of that forward position and being City's next goal scorer, which is what City needed him to be. Hence why he is at Arsenal.

Jesus is right: Pep is a madman - a madman genius and there is always a method to his madness. Most of the time it works, sometimes it does not. I still bristle at the thought of dropping CDM in Chelsea game, but I’m sure he had a reason, it just didn’t work. Putting Stones in as a floating CB, CDM and even attacking mid was nuts when he first did it, but it worked and has worked overwhelmingly well. I’m still waiting for a game when Pep has Haaland I’m goal and Ederson as a 9. With Pep, it wouldn’t surprise. Gotta love the madman genius that is Pep
Except that using Stones in the midfield was not madness, It never was. Unexpected maybe. However, Stones has always showed great passing skills and good ball Control. Pep probably planned to use Philips there but for some reason has never given him a chance, not even when Stones was injured. Using Bernardo Silva or Zinchenko whoever It was as a false 9, that is pure madness.

If you watched city with gabby he was a upgrade to sterling in terms of chances wasted but he still missed clear cut chances that haaland put away with his eyes closed. City fans have nothing but love for Gabby, but, let's be real, Gabby was limited in terms of his ability to capitalize on chances. Mad respect for his intelligent pressing and movement, but, again, he was allowed to move because he didn't develop offensively, let alone become a lesser version of Aguero. Zinny's vision is what Pep was probably hoping to throw at PSG.
why do he care if the players like him and I bet the ones who win trophies and are playing loves him. Jesus wasnt good enough and that was evident. I think it's become pretty clear by now that Jesus will never develop into a consistent goal scorer. If I were Pep I would let him go too. As for Zinchenko playing attacking midfielder or a false 9, that's his preferred position after all. Pep made him a make-shift left back so he could invert into midfield when in possession, but he was and probably still is a natural midfielder.
This the same GJ who claimed he prefers right wing? Maybe the lack of assurance in front of goal played a part. Pep is odd but we love him! P.s bernado played the 9 role in that game not zinchenko
To be fair, one of the good things about Pep is that he is unpredictable. You thought as a coach you know how he's going to do the line-up and he comes up with something strange and your plans are screwed. It may or may not work, but that's part of being a manager because you have to try things out. Who knew Stones could play the CDM role well? Some coaches try ideas in training. Guardiola tries it against PSG. He wanted a reaction and he got one. Guardiola motivated him. Jesus started well at City but became average. Stirling the same.
Pep is an experimentalist. That season he wanted to try playing without a striker, so Jesus was the victim of that experiment. This season he wanted to play without fullbacks which made victims of Cancelo and Walker (though Walker resurged towards the end of the season)
Mourinho played Eto as a left back in a champions league semi finals against Barcelona! These elite coaches do strange things due to the immense pressure they face.

A manager can only choose 11 players plus 5 subs, there are always people going to be left out and it Guardiola’s job to make those difficult decisions. It’s hard to criticize Guardiola for me when he has done so much in football, you certainly can’t say that what he does, doesn’t work because his record speaks for itself.
what’s wrong w espnfc. espn needs to get a hold of this channel and control the content that’s being put out. almost everything about this show has a sloppy feel
Come off it. The suggestion that Pep didn’t recognize Jesus’ greatness just because he did well as a sub is ridiculous. Jesus was always inconsistent af. Also, where did the “he probably only scored because City’s that good” narrative go? Or is that kept for when we downplay City players? Zinny never played striker, that’s just absurd. Jesus is categorising it wrong, because Pep played a different lineup. The fact that City won a treble the season after he left, largely thanks to a very clinical striker, and Arsenal didn’t even struggle when Jesus was injured, pretty much says it all.
Winning 1 CL in 7 years plus a budget of over 1B dollars since he came to Man city is a poor poor record I’m sorry …any other manager would’ve done better

Gabriel Jesus. Nobody made you cry. You couldnt deal with not getting it your way and your reaction was to cry and to leave the club. That's all up to you and has nothing to do with Pep Guardiola or anyone else. When a player is putting himself above the team or the manager thats not a player I would have in my squad. It must be bitter for you to not be a part of the treble they won but it was your own choice to handle it the way you did. It's ALWAYS a reason to why Pep Guardiola or other coaches decide what they do in every moment. There are more than 20 players in a team and everybody wants to play every game. That is not happening, not in City or other clubs no matter the level. If you think you are irreplaceable or that your coach/coachingteam doesnt know what they are doing you don't trust them. Thats not a good place to be neither for you or the team. When that's said everybody is making mistakes, both players and coaching staff. Thats life. Its good you have moved on but if you are bitter its all on you to choose to be so. If I have understood a little of the project of Pep Guardiola he is looking for humble, down-to-earth and hungry players that puts the team above themself. Move on and be lojal to every team you are playing for. To go public the way you do now might not be a smart move for your career but I guess you will figure that out in the end. Wish you luck in football and in life and that you learn from this on a deeper level.
As a City fan, I never doubted Jesus's abilities and hardwork. My problem with him is I can't count how many times Kdb have whipped the ball into the box, and Jesus is not there. He's always out of position or offside. Arsenal fans are realising that now. Haaland coming in is a massive upgrade.
boy loves the wing , lol you get frustrated watching him always drifting to the wing, the wingers must get so irritated cuz hes taking up space when he is supposed to be in the box doing his job , not bad to drift to the sides, but cmon cant do it all the time like its not your job to be in the box scoring , so glad its Arsenals problem to deal with now
Zinchenko is actually an attacking midfielder. But he can’t get a game there so pep plays him at LB. So it isn’t super strange to see him play as a false 9. It would be like playing a left back at right wing… which is what happened with Gareth bale.
How did Phillips feel when PG put John Stones in midfield for the first time. How did the defenders feel when Pep had Bernardo Silva play left back. Pep had Yaya Toure playing CB, Phillip Lahm as a holding midfielder. Guardiola does this all the time nobody but Gabriel went crying to their mom.
None of those players speak highly of him today. That is saying alot. When no one goes to bat for you after their career. Look at how many players have left or wanting to leave after this run. It is telling.

Pep puts himself under immense pressure to produce results.....someday these players will be coaches or managers and have to deal with the pressure of performing week in week out and to get the best out of players & the team. Gabriel Jesus has much to learn in life. Even Yaya Toure had an issue with Pep but now understands as Yaya is a youth coach now. Look at how Kompany turned out....does it look as if he cried when Pep dropped him.

That’s ridiculous to say Jesus did so much good work for them with his years there. But they replaced him with better players and the competition wasn’t nearly as strong as previous years. Thats why they won the treble

Pep is there to make decisions and he should be happy to be a madam . Jesus is funny does he know the number of world class players pep has coached he is no level to them players
Common Shaka, you're talking about a starter forward on a Brazilian team to be left out for a left back ?????? I'm happy for him that he came and got assist and a goal. Again he is not the only player complaining about Pep. I'm 100% with Craig
But the problem is that the story isn't true. Zinchenko has never played as a 9. Bernardo played as the 9 in that game. And zinchenko isn't a lb. He's always been a n attacking midfielder. He was converted to lb for City because he's not good enough to play in midfield.
The funniest thing is that Jesus left and Man City won the Champions league, the treble and 3 peat. Besides, the match Jesus was referring to Zinchenko didn’t play as a false 9 rather he played in the CM, maybe Jesus needs to get his fact right.
Something else to factor is as much as Zinchenko plays LB he Acctually a CAM. And at the top level esspecially a team like city every player has qualities that allows them to play multiple positions. With the exception of Mabye goalkeeper
In high school I was the team captain. My coach was not happy with my play and substituted me in the first half. I was angry but when I came back in the second half, I played the best soccer of my life. Coach Pep knows what he is doing.
@motivationchannel3658 the rules of football are the same, no matter when or where you play it champ. You can't come back on after substitution... this ain't Americano Hockey 😝
WHAT POSITION HE PLAYED
He is great around below great players and looks average around great players. racing a bmw against a ford will make the bmw looks great but when placed against a mercedes then bmw doesnt look all that great anymore and in this case, jesus was a bmw racing against ferraris !!!
It's this, it's humiliating which is why he reacted the way he did. He's more happy at Arsenal.
I wonder why so many players have said pep is a racist.
The point of the story is not that Jesus got dropped for a big game (or that he cried and called his mother) but that Pep was unpredictable in strange ways that made it difficult for some players and that’s why he wanted to leave.
Not strange at all when he has done it his entire managerial career
That is your take? Interesting. Have you ever coached at an elite level? NBA? NFL? Premier League? MLB? Just, curious? Jesus basically said he would rather go somewhere where it's easier to find playing time than compete at the highest level. We were bringing in Julian Alvarez, we signed him in the winter for 14.1 and it was looking like we were getting Haaland. Jesus saw the writing on the wall. This is kinda sad on his end and shows his character.
@@kingdarwin8953 Keep in mind that Zinchenko is an attacking MF for his national team. So it’s not that far fetched.
@@kingdarwin8953 But that’s not what happened. He didn’t play false 9 and Jesus should look in the mirror he was not clinical enough

I like the fact that he speaks about how he felt. Love Gabby man! what a player .
Something about nothing although obviously upset him at the time.
why do u think he didnt talk about KDB Being used as a false 9 but he talked about the Zinchenko scenario
I like the fact that he speaks about how he felt
Pep has dropped KDB, Gundo, Walker, Stones etc in big matches and strangely. A squad has over 20 players and only 11 can start. A manager wants to always win a match and he goes with the best tactic he can think of. If you want to go to a team with starting 11 guaranteed, that’s a bad move.
That is not the point a d you know it, ll
Bro, if your team doesn't have striker, you're the only one there, and your manager decides to play a left back in your position is a lot deeper than kdb resting and barnardo Silva playing instead 😂

@@J040PL7Yeah but that's false. A left back never played in that striker position. Bernardo Silva played in the false 9 role whilst zinchenko played in midfield (his original position)

To Shak’s point, I don’t know many forwards who have to see a left back play in your place in a big champions league game

I think it's become pretty clear by now that Jesus will never develop into a consistent goal scorer. If I were Pep I would let him go too. As for Zinchenko playing attacking midfielder or a false 9, that's his preferred position after all. Jesus' emotions are understandable but unfortunately to succeed in Pep's squad, you have to prove yourself a lot more, otherwise, players are always free to leave.
