    Nice and healthy Faustrime, Dom.
I have a soft spot for Named fingerlimes and Named fingerlime hybrids.
I sampled one of the fruits of mine, which are virtually ripe. Wow, the oils from the rind have a lime aroma, but with an added 'spiciness'. The flesh of the fruit is pleasant and a little acidic, and I reckon it would go well in a salad or to counteract the earthiness or amine flavours of some types of fish. The vesicles are quite firm compared to those found in, say, an orange or a regular lime.

That's so cool, Gary ... Yes, I tried a small unripe one a while back and concur with your assesment of the spicy flavour.
There's actually a posh, artisan-like, UK based online store that sells produce for 5-star 'gastronomy' chef's ... It's called 'Terra Firma Foods'. They sell a tiny 75g jar of Faustrime vesicles. LOL. They also see Pink fingerlime vesicles.
I'm going to wait until early autumn for these fruit before I pick them, or until they naturally drop.

A lovely weeping form to that specimen Dom, love to see its healthy appearance. My only fingerlime took a bit of a hit recently as due to the other things I've got going on, i haven't been checking the plants much and i missed the fact that it had dried out until i saw branches shrivelling up and dying back 🙄. Seems to have picked up quite well after i saturated it 🤞

Lovely specimen, Dom! It appears to be growing really well! Those fruits are developing really nicely as well 👍

Yes, it's growing nicely. The thorns are a bit of a pain in my small garden so when I get an allotment it'll be probably moved there and put in-ground. The thorns will deter human and vulpine trespassers on the plot also.
The fruits look amazing though, really pleased with their progress.

It's such a beautiful tree and I love how the more weeping branches don't turn into a jumble of thorns as easily as mine😆 Pruning out the centre of my tree really seemed to help - at one point it was so thick with thorny growth that I didn't notice when the ripe fruit had detached. They just sat there😆😆

Thanks, Dani ... I think some of the central branches were pruned when I got it but yes, the Faustrime has thicker branches that don't get knotted up.
Your tree is lovely, do you know the variety? A 'Sanguinea' maybe?

My finger lime sadly died. Before it did it fruited well but the fruits never ripened to the point that you would get the caviar-esque vesicles. Interested to see how these go for you.

Ahh, sorry to hear your fingerlime didn't make it. I hate losing plants but sadly it happens from time-to-time. 🙁
This particular hybrid seems easier to grow that many fingerlimes and is extremely vigourous. I'm really looking forward to the fruit ripening.

I dont like the shape of my red champagne fingerlime.... Want to graft it on to a trifoliata I have but not good at grafting might have to buy that grafting tool that basically does all the hard work lol

Thank you. Yes, this is a less common citrus but I think quite interesting. It's cold hardy, has robust limbs, it's grows quickly and has nice sized fruits.
Citrus hybrids fascinate me. There seems to be endless variations.

Great to see your faustrime fingerlime both flowering and fruiting. Unfortunately my fingerlime was covered in flowers and embryo fruit, but for some reason they all dropped off 🙄
Maybe you might have an idea why?

    • @MoebiusUK
      @MoebiusUK  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Ah that's such a shame, Joe ... Your plant looked amazing with all the flowers on, I was sure it was going to produce for you.
I'm pretty new myself to these plants so wouldn't know why this would happen. I would only be speculating so probably incorrect.
      Do you ever feed it?
