- Looking at this deep rust, at first I thought there would be through holes. But I was wrong. The blade will still work for years to come. The handle, on the other hand, had to be replaced with maple burl wood. See what I did in the video!

Then it wouldn’t be a “restoration”. It would be a “replica” using parts from an old knife. It would be like taking the gear shift out of a 57’ Chevy, re-manufacturing all the parts and then calling it a “restoration” because of the old gearshift.
@@jakeeasterwood3204 Ну в таком случае нужно было и накладки рукояти реставрировать,они не были поломаны,а так получилась частичная замена,частичная реставрация.

I have to agree you should have cut a thin slice and you could get the length of both in one slice and not waste wood. That wasn’t smart…moving on but good luck.
Restoration would have meant to keep the original metal scales. Adding phantasy parts destroys the historic value.
If you want a new knife, make a new knife.

Дуже сумніваюся цього походження. Може якась назва є або джерело?
@@uniquethings6032 я в інсті був підписаний на турка. Він такі ножі робив тільки нові(в Турції). І я такий же маю з бронзовими накладками. Їх козаки перейняли в татар. А татари тюрки, у них всіх такі ручки на складних ножах були, ще з кістки бачив такі.

Mixed feelings, but I think this was a waste of time and a nice block of wood. That blade is too pitted to be useful, prone to break with even light use.
